From 50 Summers Ago, still fun music, still good advice!
Here’s a song which can apply to almost any situation. Inspired. It sprung to mind as I was becoming saturated in some public officials’ lies and #disinformation… But it’s also good advice to self, to just ‘change the channel’ or take a walk, by ocean or garden.

Walk On

They don’t mention happy times
They do their thing, I’ll do mine
Ooh baby, that’s hard to change
I can’t tell them how to feel
Some get stoned, some get strange
Sooner or later, it all gets real

Walk On, Walk On 🦶
Walk On, Walk On 👣

"Rock & Roll"

I saw and heard him perform this song live at the NY Academy of Music a few eons ago.
I was reminded of Lou Reed by this lovely artwork I've just seen (thank you Joao)

I don't even remember so much of the show as I do the years of re-listening to this specific song, with a good set of speakers or phones, so it might sound like what I experienced in the great acoustical theater (where I worked for a long time). Anyway, like some of the Jimi Hendrix riffs which sent shivers down my spine (thinking Paligap, Red House - songs by request, miss you VTE ...

This rif in the middle just took my breath away, still does after all these dazel.... But listen to the whole thing first, maybe.

An all-time rock guitar riff, beginning 4:11

Karma express...

Sometimes a walk is heaven, sometimes things are not right, and it's a good time to walk..
This was a little blip of airplay in a fun time to be, mid-70's and Neil's walking the guitar in new directions,... Fun times for walks.

"Walk On" - Neil Young

I remember the good old days
Stayed up all night gettin' crazed
Then the money was not so good
But we still did the best we could
Ooh baby, that's hard to change
I can't tell them how to feel
Some get stoned, some get strange
Sooner or later it all gets real
Walk on, walk on

Farewell to Gary Rossington...

He was the last of the original Lynard Skynard.
As the band of today (non-original members all) pay tribute - and in real-time, the namesake band plays on in FL.

R.I.P., Gary Rossington .... now truly a free bird, with an enduring legacy. 🎶 🎸 🕊 🕯

This took me by surprise, listening first and thinking "Genesis?" with a hint of Townsend guitar (a la "Tommy"/Pinball Wizard).

And then I saw: yes, New! From Peter Gabriel. Master and legend, in fine fettle here. [Merci, Sylvie!]

Panopticom (Bright Side Mix)

From Vulture, describing this song and Gabriel's intention of releasing new material on full moons...

It took about 20 years, but we’re finally getting a taste of Peter Gabriel’s magnum opus … on the full moon … on the Sabbath? Never mind, it’s just a regular weekday. Gabriel has announced his long-gestating album i/o will be released in 2023, which will be guided by the lunar phases for its remaining rollout. Astrologers could tell you that lead track, “Panopticom” — a word that’s already an adversary to spell-check — was unveiled on the first full moon of the year, and Gabriel says that each subsequent song will follow the same ritual. “Panopticom,” which features electronics from ambient king Brian Eno, was inspired by Gabriel’s idea “to initiate the creation of an infinitely expandable accessible data globe.” i/o will further explore those themes. “Some of what I’m writing about this time,” he adds, “is the idea that we seem incredibly capable of destroying the planet that gave us birth and that unless we find ways to reconnect ourselves to nature and to the natural world we are going to lose a lot.” The last full moon is December 26, so …

Feels like the right time! Happy Christmas! (Give Peace a Chance!)

Christmas is arriving from East to West in the next hours, and it has been a while since sharing this classic song by John Lennon.

Meanwhile I found my favorite vid is now removed by YouTube for "violent content" (images of tanks and war in the background of the official Lennon video?!) And.... many versions also removed ('copyright'). Here's one - with English/French subtitles too.

Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

So here's the song - because after all, "so this is Christmas"...

In 1st comment below, a link to story about the song (per Lennon) and its vids are (to my US eyes) also deleted. With trolls and flamers...

"It is what it is", really - a Happy Christmas wish, and parallel wish for peace, end to war. Once upon a time these were not so controversial! Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, Happy (happier) New Year!
