Sometimes you find exactly what you are looking for....

...and you are overwhelmed by the profundity of the experience. I found a connection last night in a movie called The Giant Mechanical Man. [review echoing my thoughts]

I'm an introvert and a libertarian, ...which is just another way of saying that I don't fit in at all with mainstream society. I spend considerable amounts of time pondering my own solitude and direction in life, much like Janice in this film. The end of the work week is particularly somber for me, as this is when you're supposed to be free with your family and friends. Only, for some of us, it is also a potent reminder that there is no one to come home to. Last night I looked for a romantic comedy on Netflix that would give me hope on one of these lonely nights. Not a teen misadventure flick, not something to explore the pitfalls of married life, and not an empty-headed major studio production. What I found was well beyond expectations.

Yes, The Giant Mechanical Man is a low-budget indie film receiving very mixed reviews telling a well-worn story to a very narrow audience, but I am a member of that audience. The two main characters are not only strikingly sympathetic to my own personality but, in the case of Janice, ridiculously so: She's a fan of silent cinema, spends time at a theater screening these films and even proposes it as a date with her new love interest, Tim! She's the girl of my dreams! ;)

Janice:

Sometimes I just feel invisible. And I heard someone say something recently, that it just takes one person, you know. Just one person to make you feel like you belong. To make you feel special. And I think that that's true. I know that that's true because... because I felt it. The other night, I was out with this guy that I work with and... I work at the zoo and... and anyway, it was only for one night, but it just... it felt different, you know.
