Lady Mary Wortley Montagu (1689 - 1762)

April 1717. To Lady Mary is usually credited chief credit for the introduction of inoculation (vaccination into Western Europe.
The disease killed her brother, and attacked her. She survived, but was left disfigured with smallpox scars for the rest of her life.
