This was at the end of my street about 50m from the house I grew up in.

Never got to go inside, and little did I know until today, it has the first cultivated #pear #tree in the world in the courtyard.
Planted in #1647 and it still bears #fruit #today.

The place was built in #1616, a charity project for old or #destitute #women ..
Single people over 45yo can apply to live there at the moment.
Not bad, not bad at all if you have to live in a city

The month of May 2022 registered 1,476 km² of cleared area, corresponding to 44% of the total area lost in the first five months of the year, which confirms the unbridled evolution of #deforestation. The state of #Amazonas leads the extraction of native #vegetation with 553 km², 38% of the total deforestation in #Brazil in the period. More than double the 264 km² registered in 2021.

The problem here is the tipping point. At a certain point, the forest can no longer regenerate and the whole area inevitably becomes a desert.

Cet après-midi, à l'Île-de-la-Visitation, j'ai vu le Cardinal dans mon arbre préféré de l'Île...

Notez que j'étais un peu loin et sans trépied, d'où la qualité douteuse de la photo...

English: :Singing just before dawn from 2m up in a lilac bush in an urban residential neighborhood. Same territory as XC121457. Another cardinal can be heard counter-singing in background.
Recorded from about 10m distance, using homemade parabolic reflector and Olympus LS-10S.
