Falschbehauptungen wie in einer Dokumentation, zu sehen auf waidwerk, sind ärgerlich und vermeidbar. Konkret wird im off-Kommentar behauptet, das Land sei "bis heute von keinem Staat" anerkannt. In einer Nachvertonung ließe sich das fix beheben.

Taiwan - Fliegende Fische oder Atommüll? ist zu sehen auf waidwerk. Ich fand die Sendung inhaltlich durchaus erhellend; mir war nicht klar dass manche Landesteile (hier: Lanyu) quasi unter dem staatlichen Energieversorger leben. Die Lagerung von Atommüll macht, dass hier strukturell eng verzahnt ist was anders gelöst besser wäre. Eine aufrichtige Aufarbeitung (und Beseitigung der Altlasten) täte allen Beteiligten gut.

Bobo liked to poke his head out the window when driving through Taibei. Sylvia's family dog was the friendliest I ever met, he too accepted me, the Westerner, as family.

In the car every now and then he'd sneeze and was clearly enjoying every second of the ride, as you can see. This is an old photo from 2004.

EXIF may tell you an SP-2000 Fujifilm machine digitized the film; boy was I a frequent customer in that small photo shop when in Taiwan. Friendly staff was surprised and happy I came by often with new rolls of film. Getting a CD from each cost almost nothing extra (100NTD maybe? Less than 3€) and I got these early photos from my Canon SLR in acceptable quality.

Random holiday photo, a weekend of camping in the Lala mountain area. Many things were enjoyable and memorable about the trip, including the mountain's name and this view from a town on the ridge road, I think 巴陵 Baling: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/3489055339

The camping site itself is down in a valley nearby, kind of hidden from view. Camping with a tent in the damp, warm subtropics is quite something, and for me the European used to temperate climate, very different from other trips.

If you can travel to Taiwan, go visit Tainan, the former capital in Taiwan. The New York Times thinks you should. I wholeheartedly agree.

Immer mehr Taiwanesen wandern aus dem Norden der Insel zu, so dass man inzwischen von einer „Abwanderung in den Süden“ spricht. Darunter auch viele Kreative, was sich im Stadtbild durch Boutiquen, Bars und Restaurants zeigt. Die New York Times gibt mehrere Tipps, darunter die Restaurants Zyuu Tsubo und Jai Mi Ba sowie die Bar Swallow. Sehenswert seien auch das Tainan Art Museum sowie der Hayashi Department Store. Nicht zu vergessen bei der Lobpreisung Tainans sei aber auch die schöne Landschaft und das fast ganzjährige angenehme Klima.

I'll share some random pictures from Yilan, Taiwan, 礁溪鄉 Jiaoxi township, where hot springs uphill upstream e.g. at the 幽谷瀑布 waterfall make for various places downstream throughout the city that allow for resting your feet or immersing yourself in free public baths in one of the parks.

Here's a few pictures of a park close to the bus terminal, perfect for aahhhh extending the holiday those last few minutes before the bus really leaves.
