A quick scan of a leaked EU priority list for the rest of the decade reveals a telling quirk: The only mention of โenvironmentโ is a promise to create a โbusiness-friendly #environment.โ
Instead, the document โ essentially a mood board EU leaders compile every five years to guide the incoming EU executive in Brussels โ is littered with references to defense, security and migration. Climate change is barely mentioned. Nature and biodiversity donโt feature at all.
The draft, still subject to change before EU leaders endorse it after the June European Parliament election, reflects months of talks between European Council President Charles Michel and the heads of state and government he represents. And it serves as a neat illustration of their shifting priorities
Itโs a marked difference from 2019, the last time EU leaders set out their vision. That โstrategic agendaโ put climate change front and center, calling it an โexistential threat.โ One of the #EUโs top four priorities was โbuilding a climate-neutral, green, fair and social #Europe.โ

CO2 is quite unimportant in controlling the Earth's climate, what is important is clouds.
A problem with these sort of conversations is that it become so polarized and the rhetoric tend to tilt toward absolutes. This movie have arguments that must be taken into account, but, that does not mean we should not continue reducing pollution, nor reducing fossil energy use or overall material consumption.
Do to human expansion, infrastructure, agriculture and our meddling in nature we have changed the consequence of normal weather and we feel the effect of this, its tempting to mistake that for climate change.

Tackling climate change, viewed from an economic angle. You will often hear people whining about how expensive it is to fight climate change. Those people usually not only ignore the costs that will arise if we don't do anything, they also ignore the economic reality, usually lobbying for certain economic interests.
Funnily, there are even solutions that come with negative costs. Others (like bicycle infrastructure) don't cost much, they only need to be done.
