#Quote Researchers have discovered a two-foot-tall #Buddha statue in #Berenike, an #ancient #Egyptian port city.

The #artifact is the first Buddha ever found west of Afghanistan, according to the New York Review of Books’ William Dalrymple. Made from Mediterranean marble, it provides new evidence of trade between #ancient #Rome and #India.

Based on stylistic details, the researchers think it was made in Alexandria around the second century C.E.

Founded in the third century B.C.E., Berenike eventually became one of the largest ports in Roman-controlled #Egypt, according to the antiquities ministry. Goods such as ivory, textiles and semi-precious metals passed through the city for many years, until it was eventually abandoned around the sixth century C.E.

Recent excavations at Berenike have revealed other items that suggest a similar cultural blending. Among them is an inscription in Sanskrit dating to the reign of the emperor Marcus Julius Philippus, known as Phillip the Arab. Born in what is now Syria, he ruled the Roman Empire from 244 to 249 C.E.

Such finds are part of a growing body of evidence that shows just how interconnected the Roman Empire was to its ancient Indian counterpart. They also help shed light on the unique role played by Egypt, which was “centrally located on the trade route that connected the Roman Empire to many parts of the ancient world,” says the antiquities ministry.

Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef and later on by co-founder of the Daily Wire, Jeremy Boreing, for a heated and emotive debate on the historical treatment of Palestine during their conflict with Israel and whether Israel's decision to bomb Gaza in an attempt to get rid of Hamas is justified and proportionate after the attacks on October 7th.

Bassem condemns the terrorist organisation Hamas and tries to explain that people have been desensitised to accept that civilians dying is an inevitability of war.

Piers then suggests he doesn't know what the "proportionate response" to a terrorist attack of Hamas's scale would be. Bassem responds by referencing a graph that shows the total amount of deaths in the conflict prior to the attacks and questions the Palestinian killings in the West Bank, which has never been occupied by Hamas fighters.

Bassem then mocks Ben Shapiro for his public stance on Israel defending themselves, questioning how an occupier can be defending themselves. Shapiro's friend and colleague Jeremy is then invited by Piers to debate Bassem's criticisms. " -

This interview made me think(again) about Piers Morgan giving so much space to the opponents of the globalist narrative ,and this comment resonates with my suspicions;

"At this point I believe that Piers Morgan is actually a good man who is totally against Israel, but he fears getting cancelled or angering his show's sponsors if he makes his true stance clear. So he's intentionaly bringing in knowledgeable people to educate his viewers about the real situation."

Fourth day of the war, October 10th, status update and major events:

  • Israeli death toll surpasses 1000.

  • #Hamas is pushed out of most settlements around the Gaza strip, except Be'eri, Kisufim and Nahal Oz.

  • Hamas carries out sporadic marine landings on the beach of #Zikkim, and assaults the adjacent IDF outpost.

  • #Israel approves calling up to 360.000 reservists into the IDF.

  • Relentless bombing campaign of #Gaza continues as in the previous days, illegal #WhitePhosphorus #munitions are used.

  • Israel bombs the Gaza side of the #Rafah border crossing with Egypt, and threatens to target #Egyptian aid convoys.

  • Major rocket launches by Hamas towards the settlement of #Ashkelon.

  • Al-Qassam fires a salvo of rockets from #Lebanon into the #Galilee region, promting an Israeli response with artillery and white phosphorus on Southern Lebanon.

  • Hezbollah targets and destroys an Israeli #Zelda M-113 APC across the Lebanese border in #Salha (Avivim), and Israeli #Apache helicopters strike #Hezbollah observation posts in retaliation.

  • #IDF mistakes members of the Israeli police for Hamas members in #Ashdod, leading to a #FriendlyFire incident with several killed.

  • The Israeli occupied #GolanHeights are struck by mortar fire from #Syria, promting IDF artillery to fire at unidentified targets in the vincinity of the Syrian town of #Quneitra.

Isn't it funny that #AlQaeda and #ISIS that are supposed to be ultra radical Muslim fanatics are completely quiet about the current conflict (As always), and instead attacking Syrian targets just like Israel does?

TANOURA: The Egyptian Dervish Dance

TANOURA: The Egyptian Dervish Dance
Tanoura is associated with Sufism and is performed at Sufi festivals, but it is also performed by non-Sufis as a folk dance or concert dance. Although it is mainly used for visual effects, the dancers also augment their balance with the tanoura, through a dynamic centrifugal effect.

Tanoura is the Egyptian kind of the Sufi dervish dance. The origin of the word is most likely associated with the name of the skirt used by the Egyptian dervishes in the performance. Sufi dances, where the performer rotates without stopping in different poses, is a type of meditative practice during which the dervish enters a trance. And even if it does not look very believable, I am inclined to believe that it is so. After all, even I, as a spectator and listener, felt the euphoria of what I saw! Virtuoso playing on national instruments with an accelerating pace, the constant whirling of the performer dressed in bright coloured skirts, which also whirls, thereby creating a kaleidoscope or hypnotic circle effect and the energy coming from the scene produce a stunning effect!
I advise you to watch it with your own eyes and watch video from a dervish show that I saw, worthy of getting into the golden fund of world culture.

Hassan Fathy (1900 – 1989) حسن فتحي

Hassan Fathy, born in Alexandria, was a cosmopolitan trilingual professor-engineer-architect, musician, dramatist, and inventor. One of Egypt's most renowned architects. Fathy was recognized with the Aga Khan Award for Architecture Chairman’s Award in 1980.

He designed nearly 160 separate projects, from modest country retreats to fully planned communities with police, fire, and medical services, markets, schools, theatres, and places for worship and recreation. These communities included many functional buildings such as laundry facilities, ovens, and wells.

He utilized ancient design methods and materials, as well as knowledge of the rural Egyptian economic situation with a wide knowledge of ancient architectural and town design techniques. He trained local inhabitants to make their own materials and build their own buildings.

Hassan Fathy developed his own ideas, inculcating traditional Arab styles like the malkhaf (wind catcher), the shukshaykha (lantern dome) and the mashrabeya (wooden lattice screens). He designed complete communities including utilities and services, country retreats, special projects, and homes.

Hassan Fathy had already worked for decades in his beloved Egypt before he designed and built for the homeless community of Gourna, Upper Egypt,: which attracted international acclaim.

The old Gourna village was situated near archeological Pharaonic sites on the western shore of Upper Egypt. The Department of Antiquities commissioned Hassan Fathy to meet the challenge of providing a home for a poor community of 7,000 people. His solution differed drastically, not requiring the machinations of the established building industry of concrete and steel. For New Gourna he utilized natural resources using mud-brick, a signature of adobe architecture, and features of Egyptian architecture such as enclosed courtyards and domed vaulted roofing. He worked with the local people to develop the new village, training them to make the materials to construct their own buildings with. In this way, he was able to provide an environment specific to the inhabitants’ needs and revive decorative techniques that were quickly disappearing with the expansion of the Global Village.

Hassan Fathy's General Principles as Guidelines:

  1. Belief in the primary of human values in architecture.

  2. Importance of a universal rather than a limited approach.

  3. Use of appropriate technology.

  4. Need for socially oriented, cooperative construction techniques.

  5. Essential role of tradition.

  6. Re-establishment of national cultural pride through the act of building.

"How do we go from the architect/constructor system to the architect-owner/builder system? One man cannot build a house, but ten men can build ten houses very easily, even a hundred houses. We need a system that allows the traditional way of cooperation to work in our society. We must subject technology and science to the economy of the poor and penniless. We must add the the aesthetic factor because the cheaper we build the more beauty we should add to respect man." -Hassan Fathy

One of the most outstanding Arab architects of our time, a great inspiration ~
