#JonStewart returns to host The #DailyShow — part-time
Getting ready for Biden vs. Trump Part II

By Michael McWhertor Jan 24, 2024,

..."Stewart will host episodes on Mondays and will executive produce the long-running news-comedy show through 2025. A rotating lineup of members of The Daily Show News Team will host the show the rest of the week (Tuesday through Thursday).

“Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season,” said Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, in a news release announcing Stewart’s return. “In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”

Stewart’s return to The Daily Show starts on Feb. 12, the day after Super Bowl LVIII."...

Jon Stewart's best moment wasn't on 'The Daily Show.' It was the day he eviscerated CNN.

..."On Oct. 19, 2004, #JonStewart broke "Crossfire." For good.

Stewart had a history of making fun of "Crossfire," as he did with all irresponsible television masquerading as journalism on every single TV network.

So when the guys at "Crossfire," Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala, invited him to be on their show, Stewart seized the opportunity.

Jon Stewart made me realize that the divide between most Americans is a false one.
Letting these pundits speak for us, allowing them to pigeonhole all of us as "left" or "right," should not be allowed to happen. All of us have shades of gray.

It's a media-created cartoon, meant to keep us fighting among ourselves while the folks upstairs get away with whatever they want.

We're better than that. And until we hold the media accountable, the media won't hold anyone else accountable."...

..." This petition is not just about electing a new president; it's about choosing someone who can bring us together in these divisive times.

#JonStewart is known for his tenure as host of The Daily Show where he used satire to shed light on important issues. He has shown time and again that he understands the complexities of our political landscape and isn't afraid to call out hypocrisy where he sees it. His commitment to truth-telling could bring a refreshing change to our political discourse.

Moreover, as someone who isn't an established politician, Jon Stewart brings a unique perspective that could challenge the status quo in Washington D.C., potentially leading to more innovative solutions to our nation's problems.

This petition aims at gauging interest in such a candidacy. If you believe like me that Jon Stewart would be an excellent choice for president, please sign this petition and let your voice be heard!"...

Master and Disciple: Jon Stewart and Trevor Noah

This is from a few months back --- June 25, 2020 --- and is a great heart-to-heart, exchange, and mutual admiration between two of the greats of comedy.

Notable from comments:

[A]ll the people that Jon Stewart hired are now at the top of their game and have their own shows: John Oliver , Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee, Hasan Minhaj, Trevor Noah .. all of them can be traced back to Jon Stewart . He has an amazing eye for talented people.

Not just seeking out and attracting, but developing and motivating. Un underappreciated aspect of Stewart's greatness is that he's shaped the next generation of comics. Packing the court jesters, as it were.

A great insight into art, craft, politics, and respect.

This brings to mind Stewart's own interview with George Carlin, in 1997:
