https://mastodon.social/@herissonrose/113381350807919641 herissonrose@mastodon.social - Monty Pythonicus presents: Polish Apple cake, or Szarlotka!

This is his human's favourite cake after walnut.

It's a traybake, a sandwich of dough that resembles shortbread in turns of crumblyness and texture.

In between is a cooked filling of grated apples and cinnamon.

This is very much a weigh with your heart cake. Go nuts, add nuts. Or blackberries, raspberries, whatever. Take one apple out, replace w fruit.

I saw this"Parmigiano Reggiano Cheesecake" recipe referenced in Laurie Woolever's "Wide World of Cheese" article on the Flaming Hydra and I'm honestly torn on whether I want to try it or not. I'd say 60/40 wanting to. #cooking #recipes
Parmigiano ReggianoĀ® Cheesecake

I just tried something new:
1 can Tomato soup
1 can of milk
1/2C sour cream
1/2 can of El Pato Spicy Tomato sauce
whisk gently while heating.
Serve with grilled cheese sandwiches.
Yum!

Half a can in the pot is enough to give it a little heat without scaring away my kids. I had the rest of the can in my bowl. :-D

Recipes are from Castle Glen, the solar-powered castle, who write
"This is our story of how our environmentally conscious practices, along with the Australian government putting a price on pollution is working for Castle Glen. It isn't always glamorous, but by making changes in lighting, improving equipment, installing solar panels and a wind turbine (coming this year), all with the support of grants that are made possible by Australia's price on pollution, our line-up of products are getting even better. All Castle Glen customers can drink with a clean green conscious - making a difference to our planet with every sip!"

27 #Flatbread #Recipes That Rise to Any Occasion

Thereā€™s plenty to be said for lofty, airy loaves of bread that dramatically puff up in their pans in the oven. But flatbreadsā€”despite being, you know, flatā€”are just as dramatic in flavor, texture, and visual appeal. Examine, if you will, Moroccan mlaoui, with all of its buttery, chewy layers, or a chile- and garlic-stuffed kulcha, beautifully burnished under the heat of a broiler and dusted with fiery red chile powder. (Sourdough boules, I love you, but youā€™re in an entirely different class.) Pizza is arguably the worldā€™s most beloved flatbreadā€”and its ancestor focaccia is also damn fine, if you ask us. Some flatbread recipes, such as scallion bing and naan, get a little rise out of yeast, which gives them a more bready quality too; others have no leavening at all, including Gujarati theplas, Turkish gƶzleme, and tortillas. The world abounds with flatbread, and your kitchen should too.
