Black Friday
Am Black Friday wollen deutsche Käufer:innen im Schnitt 317 Euro ausgeben. Doch gefälschte Onlineshops locken dank KI immer überzeugender in Fallen.

I ordered something in #China from a big shopping portal and I know the portal is a completely different company and only doing the global logistics but I wonder how small a small company can really be if sending their goods globally?

They have the yogurt I love in 1kg and 5kg containers.
After almost 2 months, they have cut back in items available for sale, prices have gone up between 30 and 90%.
It's still cheaper than major shops, but it's kinda sad.
I guess they realized they wouldn't make enough money or the demand was so high they decided to increase the prices to increase profit.
But I'm happy for now. No more single pack yogurt or î Euro price for 1kt ones. Plus these are much tastier than those fake Greek yogurt they sell in the shops.
They don't have Bulgarian feta cheese so I still have to go to Nice or Cannes for those.

New features on Samsung’s AI-powered food and recipe app could make your meal planning and food management chores much easier. With Samsung Food, you can now add items to a Food List just by taking a picture. The app can then suggest recipes based on the food you have, automatically remove them when you cook a recipe using anything on the list, then add food items back to the list when you tick them off your shopping list.
Samsung says the service now creates meal plans based on your food list and prioritizes items “nearing use-by date” (this has to be set manually). Plus, a new “Search with Your Food List” feature lets you easily find a recipe based on what you have. All this should make meal planning and shopping much easier, as long as you’re willing to do it all in Samsung’s app.
Vision AI leverages your phone’s camera to identify items to add to your Food List. Just snap a picture of whatever is in your pantry or fridge, and the ingredients will be added to the list. Once you’ve cooked something, the app can automatically remove it from the food list and add it to the shopping list in the Samsung Food app. When you shop using the list, the app can automatically add items purchased to your food list.
This app really does seem to have achieved a level of perfection, if it really does what it promises. Quite a few of these features are already in the free and self-hosted Grocy app, but the work is a lot more manual in Grocy. I’d imagine though, this Samsung app may be really worth it for larger households, or where someone operates a household on a more professional basis.
And of course being cloud based means you need to continue paying, will struggle if you lose Internet access, or it will all die if Samsung loses interest in it.

So this seem to be a new concept, a sort of inconvenience store called Aisle 24, named because it is always open 24 hours a day.
On the surface it sounds good. It is a small grocery shop with no staff. It gets restocked intermittently, you just go there, take whatever you need, check it out yourself, pay for it with debit or credit card and then just go. It is open 24/7 too, which is convenient.
So what is there not to like?
The store is naturally always locked. You can only gain entry with a smartphone that is running their app. It accesses your Bluetooth and detects when you approach to unlock the door. Needless to say the shelves all have detection equipment to note what you take and the store is full of cameras and microphones.
It is only when you read their Terms & Conditions. Some excepts:
- You agree to be recorded by audio and video equipment while you are at our Store and your location and identity recorded. You consent to having the audio, video and location recording used by UMC for identification or any other purpose.

Umgang mit Verbraucher*innen: Warum duzen die mich?
I love Bulgarian feta. Was so happy to find them when I was living in Paris and I always had one pack in my refrigerator. The price was good too, 7.99, and later after pandemic it went up to 9.99, but here I could not find it anywhere until I found this shop in Nice that sells them with their online shop, I can order it, then just go there and pick them up.
But the price is much higher, 14.99, which is OK if didn't need to add the train+bus tickets to it. Maybe what I do, is to set up a big order, then plan a day out in Nice, visit the Tunisian butcher that sells meat and chicken in large packs at discount price, fill the shopping trolly and then have a Succa at my favorite shop in old town Nice and head home.
I may even add a stop at the Nice open market for some fruits and vegetables (if I do it on wednesday, when the market in norther part of town is open, not the tourist trap in the old town).
Amazon Fresh is moving away from a feature of its grocery stores where customers could skip checkout altogether.
Though it seemed completely automated, Just Walk Out relied on more than 1,000 people in India watching and labeling videos to ensure accurate checkouts. The cashiers were simply moved off-site, and they watched you as you shopped.
