#Punarvasu (புனர்பூசம்): Principles
Placement: 20° 00’ of Gemini to 03° 20’ of Cancer

Element: #Water (Neer)

Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: 2nd and 4th Pada*/NA

Just like Ashwini #nakshatra, Punarvasu also has two aspects: one sattvic and the other tamasic. The balance of life is shown by equating sattva with tamas and vice versa. Punarvasu represents the cyclical nature of #time, where good times are followed by bad and vice versa. This teaches us the #philosophy of life. Punarvasu is paired with the next nakshatra, Pushya.

Ruler: #Jupiter, the planet of principles, dharma, and wisdom, governs this nakshatra. Additionally, Jupiter also governs Sagittarius, which is the natural ninth house of Dharma.

Symbol: The symbol of Punarvasu is a "quiver of arrows", which signifies the importance of being mentally and physically prepared for any upcoming situation. It also represents the concept of time, which constantly moves forward without stopping. The nakshatra's other symbol is a "house", which signifies the ability to remain steady and #unchanging amidst changing circumstances.

Deity: The deity associated with Punarvasu nakshatra is #Goddess #Aditi, who is known as the mother of the 12 Adityas, which are solar deities including Surya (the sun god). Aditi symbolizes the nurturing and nourishing motherly #nature, which is associated with this nakshatra.

The connection between Punarvasu and Sagittarius is apparent through the aforementioned characteristics.
Animal: #Female #cat.

Guna: This nakshatra is characterized as Rajasic, action-oriented, with a focus on stability and sustainability.

Power: Punarvasu represents the power of retrieval and restoration, known as "Vastuva Prapana Shakti".

Story of Lord #Ram: Lord Ram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born under the Punarvasu nakshatra. He was a virtuous prince who was supposed to become the king, but due to unforeseen events, he was banished from his kingdom just a day before his coronation. Despite this setback, he never lost hope and stayed true to his values and beliefs. He faced numerous challenges during his exile, but he persevered and eventually returned to his homeland after 14 years to claim his rightful place as the king. This story illustrates the significance of time, morality, duty, principles, hope, and resilience, which are all associated with this nakshatra. Additionally, the number 14 holds a special significance in this story.

General attributes: Individuals born under Punarvasu nakshatra are likely to have firm beliefs and principles, whether they are good or bad. They may dedicate their entire life to upholding these beliefs. As they age, they may become a source of inspiration and hope for others. Although they may appear to go with the flow, they are adaptable and have a deep understanding of the nature of events. They are calm, composed, and patient, waiting for the right moment to take action. They may frequently discuss topics related to time, karma, and the cyclical nature of things. These are general qualities, and reader's discretion is advised. The fourth pada of Punarvasu is considered to be doubly strong and auspicious because it is a vargottama pada.

#MountKailash, located in the remote western region of #Tibet, is one of the world's most revered and mysterious mountains.

Standing at an elevation of 6,638 meters (21,778 feet), this striking peak is uniquely shaped with four steep faces that resemble a pyramid, making it visually distinct from other mountains in the #Himalayas. What makes Mount #Kailash so special, however, isn’t just its dramatic appearance but its profound spiritual and cultural significance across multiple religions.

#Sacred Significance
Mount Kailash is considered a sacred site in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and the ancient Bon religion. In Hinduism, it is revered as the abode of Lord Shiva, where he resides with his consort, Parvati, in a state of perpetual meditation. Devotees believe that Mount Kailash is the center of the universe and a direct connection between heaven and earth.

In Buddhism, Mount Kailash is seen as the home of Demchok (or Chakrasamvara), a deity representing #supreme #bliss.

Pilgrims believe that completing a kora, or a circumambulation, of the mountain brings good karma and purifies the soul. Tibetan Buddhists undertake this kora in a clockwise direction, while Bon followers circle it counterclockwise.

For #Jains, Mount Kailash is known as Ashtapada, the place where their first Tirthankara, Rishabhadeva, achieved spiritual #liberation. In the #Bon religion, Mount Kailash is regarded as the seat of the #Sky #Goddess #Sipaimen and a place of immense power.

Pilgrimage and Kora
Every year, pilgrims from around the world travel to Mount Kailash for the challenging kora, a 52-kilometer (32-mile) circumambulation around the mountain. This journey, often done at an altitude of over 4,500 meters (14,764 feet), is believed to be a transformative spiritual experience. Completing just one kora is thought to cleanse negative karma, while completing 108 koras is believed to lead to enlightenment.

Geographical and Environmental Importance
Mount Kailash is the source of some of #Asia's most important #rivers, including the #Indus, #Sutlej, #Brahmaputra, and #Karnali (a major tributary of the #Ganges). These rivers are vital water sources for millions of people across South Asia. The region around Kailash is also rich in unique flora and fauna adapted to the harsh Tibetan Plateau environment.

Forbidden Peak
Climbing Mount Kailash is strictly forbidden out of respect for its spiritual sanctity. Over the years, climbers and explorers have requested permission to ascend, but the mountain remains off-limits. This restriction has preserved its natural state and mystique, as no human has set foot on its summit.

A Place of Mystery
Mount Kailash is shrouded in mystery and local legends, including tales of rapid aging for those who attempt to climb it, and reports of an unusual energy field around it. The mountain has a pyramidal shape, which some believe may be an ancient man-made structure or a center of #cosmic #energy.

Conclusion
Mount Kailash stands as a powerful symbol of #peace, reverence, and spiritual aspiration. Its allure lies not only in its beauty but in its status as an untouched spiritual beacon, attracting pilgrims, #mystics, and adventurers from around the world. For those who witness its grandeur, Mount Kailash is more than a mountain—it’s a deeply sacred place that inspires humility, awe, and spiritual reflection.

#EIRENE ( #Irene) was the #goddess of #peace and the season of #spring.

She was one of the three Horai (Horae), deities of the seasons and keepers of the gates of heaven. Her sisters were Eunomia (Good Order) and Dike (Justice).
enter image description here
Eirene's name is the Greek word for peace (eirênê) but it is also closely connected with the word for spring (eiar, eiarinos). In #ancient #Greece late spring was the traditional campaign season, the time when peace was most at risk.

Eirene was probably identified with the Hora Thallo (Green Shoots), whose name Hesiod uses as an epithet for Eirene in the Theogony. Her opposite number was Polemos (War).

In classical art the goddess usually appears in the company of her two sister Horai bearing the fruits of the seasons. Statues of the goddess often depict her as a maiden holding the infant Ploutos (Plutus) (Wealth) in her arms. In this guise she was identified with the Demeter and Tykhe (Tyche), the goddesses of agricultural bounty.

In the Lanka war, Brahmaji asked Shri Ram to worship Chandi Devi for slaughtering Ravana and to make Goddess happy, and according to the law, there was also a provision of 108 rare beans for Chandi Poojan and Havan. On the other hand, Ravan started Chandi lessons to achieve immortality. Indra Dev conveyed this to Shri Ram through Pawan Dev and consulted to Chandi lesson should be given as complete as possible.

Indra Dev conveyed this to Shri Ram through Pawan Dev and counselled that Chandi Lesson should be given as complete as possible. Here in the incense burner, a Nilkamal from the place of worship vanished from Ravan's elusive power, which would disrupt the worship of Shri Ram. Shri Ram's resolution was broken. There was a fear that the goddess-mother would not have become angry.

Arrangements of rare Nilkamal were impossible, only then Shri Ram remembered that he was also called Kamal-Nayan Nawkavang Lochan. So why not dedicate one eye to the worship of the mother. And when Lord Rama got ready to take out an eye after taking an arrow from her, then Goddess appeared, holding her hand and saying, "I am delighted and blessed by Vijayashree."

On the other side, while worshipping Ravana, Hanuman Ji took the form of a Brahmin child and joined Hanumanji in the service. And a verse from the Brahmins performing Puja, Jaya Devi, Bharati Harinani, Harini means that the devotee's suffering and Karani means pain and suffering. With this Durga became angry with Ravana and cursed him. And Ravana was destroyed.

The second story behind Navratri
According to another legend associated with this feast, Goddess Durga was the slaughter of a Buffalo Devils, i.e. Mahishasur. Delighted by Mahishasur's worship, the gods had given him the bridesmaid to be invincible. After receiving that blessing, Mahishasur started misusing him and extended hell to the door of heaven. Mahishasur took away the rights of the sun, moon, Indra, fire, air, yam, Varun and other deities and became the owner of the heavens. Goddesses had to walk on the earth with the fear of Mahishasura. Then, angry with Mahishasur's misery, the gods created the memory of Durga. To slaughter Mahishasura, the gods had dedicated all their weapons and weapons to Durga, which strengthened them. Nine days he had fought with Mahishasur and in the end, Mahishasura was slaughtered and called Mata Durga Mahishasurmardini.

#Mula #Nakshatra is the 19th Nakshatra as per Hindu #astrology in Scorpionis #constellation. The Mula constellation is at the center of the #MilkyWay #Galaxy ( #Galactic #Center). Mula (or Moola) Nakshatra is the #Vedic constellation which translates as “the #root.” It is that this location during winter solstice (Dec 23rd, 24th and 25th), the sun rises to its lowest point for people of northern hemisphere and appears as reborn from the darkness, symbolizing rebirth and the renewal of life. #Ancient Egyptians believed that the Sun God (RA) dies and is reborn during this time of winter solstice.

In Hindu mythology, Mula is ruled by #Nirriti, the #Goddess of #destruction. It has the power to ruin or destroy. Nirriti is the Hindu goddess of deathly hidden realms and sorrows, one of the dikpāla (“guardians of the directions”), representing the southwest. The name Nirriti has the meaning of “absence of ṛta”, meaning ‘disorder’, or ‘lawlessness’, specifically the absence of divine or cosmic order.

Nirṛtī is a #Ketu -ruled nakshatra in the #Vedicastrology, strongly associated with Kali in the form of Dhumavati. Nirṛtī is mentioned in a few hymns of the Rigveda, mostly to seek protection from her or imploring for her during a possible departure. In one hymn (X.59), she is mentioned several times. This hymn, after summing up her nature, also asks for her in departure from the sacrificial site.

In the #Atharvaveda (V.7.9), she is described as having golden locks.

In the Taittiriya Brahmana (I.6.1.4), Nirṛtī is described as dark, dressed in dark clothes and her sacrificial shares are dark husks.

In the sacred Shatapatha Brahmana (X.1.2.9), she is associated with the southwest quarter as her region. In the Vedas, Nirṛti represented the lightless realm of disorder that was held at bay by ṛta and the Vedic rituals. In later Hindu thought, this realm of non-existence was replaced with various hell realms, and Nirṛti was re-conceptualized as a deity- the daughter of Adharma (the embodiment of non-dharmic behavior) and mother of Naraka, a personification of the hell realms.

In Puranic story, Nirṛtī is known as Alakshmi and below is Srisukta mantra.

kṣhutpipāsāmalāṁ jyeṣṭhām alakṣmīṁ nāśayāmyaham,
abhūtimasamṛddhiṁ cha sarvāṁ nirṇuda me gṛihāt.

I shall venerate the elder sister of #Lakshmi, #Alakshmi, the embodiment of inauspiciousness and such evil as hunger, thirst, and the like for extinguishing such qualities from me. O Lakshmi! Drive out from my abode all misfortune and poverty.

#Rohini (रोहिणी) is a #goddess in Hinduism and the favorite consort of #Chandra, the #moon #god. She is a daughter of Daksha and sister of the 26 other #Nakshatras.

As per Shiva Purana, when Daksha gave away his 27 daughters, he got an undertaking that Chandra would not show favoritism towards any of his wives. However, Moon God (Chandra) is drawn to Rohini. Daksha comes to know of Chandra Deva spending more time with Rohini gets cursed by Daksha. However, Moon God (Chandra) prays to #Shiva and gets a boon with a compromise. During Krishnapaksha Chandra would wane and during Shuklapaksha, the bright part of the lunar fortnight, Chandra would wax. This explains the waning and waxing moon.

Moon is exactly exalted at 3 degree Krittika and it is considered in exaltation sign throughout Taurus but it is Rohini #nakshatra where Moon is happiest. In Vedic theology the moon is considered a manifestation of the mind of God.

Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated as birth of Lord Krishna when Sun is in own sign and Moon in Rohini Nakshatra.

In most of ancient Hindu Puranas, we have this famous word ‘Rohini Sakata Bhedanam’. This phenomenon was observed during the times of Ramayana when Ravana abducts Sita and also during Mahabharata War. Great wars and destruction happened every time this peculiar phenomenon appeared in the sky.

In 46th chapter in Aranya Kanda of Valmiki Ramayana, Rohini is mentioned as dear wife of the moon and compared with Sita. Here bad planet would be Saturn when he abducts Sita.

Taam apashyat tato baalaam raaja putriim yashasviniim || 3–46–5
rohiNiim shashinaa hiinaam grahavat bhR^isha daaruNaH |

Explanation: Rohini is the principle star and dear wife of the Moon will be in lunar asterism of the same name, and when she comes in the view of planets like Saturn and Mars astrology predicts earthly havocs. Hence, Ravana is compared with such a planet and Sita with Rohini.

In the Hindu epic Mahabharata, King Dhritarashtra is the King of the Kuru Kingdom and we can find similar comparison In Bhīṣmaparva 2, Vyāsa informs King Dhritarashtra on bad omens that happened during Mahabharata war and explains about Saturn in Rohini.

Rohiṇīṃ pīḍayanneṣa sthito rājañśanaiścaraḥ

vyāvṛttaṃ lakṣma somasya bhaviṣyati mahadbhayam

Explanation: Saturn stands tormenting Rohini, O king. The (hare) sign of the Moon has disappeared. There will be great danger/fear.

#PURVA ASHADA #NAKSHATRA
Watery Star of Hopeful Urge
“By the Power of the unstoppable urge
Now you can drink it or you can nurse it,
It don’t matter how you worship
As long as you’re
Down on your knees.
So I knelt there at the delta,
At the alpha and the omega,
At the cradle of the river and the seas.
And like a blessing come from heaven
For something like a second
I was healed and my heart
Was at ease.”

L. Cohen – Light as a Breeze

Purva Ashada Nakshatra is in the constellation of Sagittarius and brings clearing, cleansing purification. The deity of this Nakshatra is Apa, she is the cosmological river Goddess of fresh water and the lover of Varuna the god of the seas.

Losing one’s individuality and merging into the greater sea of being, is the energy that this Star brings to us. This is a Shukracharia (Venus) ruled Nakshatra and rules conception. The river wishing to rush to meet the ocean is relatable to the urge of the sperm moving to meet the ovum.

“Purva Ashada Nakshatra
brings fluidic transitions
just as the inherent symbolism
of the river Delta…
where one water body
loses its identity for another.”
Transition from individual states of being to awareness of more expansive states of being comes from a losing of established identities. By purification of the subconscious sediment that we carry, we rush into the vaster ocean of reality. It is interesting to note that a river delta is also a place where underwater sediment in most pronounced.

Our subconscious sediment colours and expresses itself in the rivers of our being. Transition to new states of being come as things are resolved and purified from the underground. This is the lesson that Purva Ashada Nakshatra brings to us – That we have to leave some things behind if we are to come into more fluid states of being. Figuratively speaking – surface skiing upon the water does nothing to really resolve ones Karmic themes, though it certainly gives the feeling of moving.

On the path of a Tantra, the Yogin is careful to not exchange superficial surface maneuvers for the introspective healing work of facing the deep dark depths.

Bhairav Astami
The science of lunar houses is very detailed and subtle because it is dependent upon which Moon phase transports the energy to earth. Uttara Ashada Nakshatra occurring upon

“The Bhairav Astami
of half descending Moon
brings a movement
of unconscious sediment
and offers a transition
out of individual unconscious patterns
into a new sea of being.”
Bhairav is the deity who makes us face that which we fear, that which we turn away from and do not wish to face becomes our unconscious shadow that lives in the depths, and just like the undercurrent, it informs all the maneuvers of our consciousness.

Bhairav Astami has been ritualized by Yogins since time immemorial as a Moon day for accessing the unseen and unconscious shadow elements of our reality.

The occurrence upon Bhairav Astami of Purva Ashada Nakshatra is a time of working ritualistically with water. There are many inner and outer practices in Tantra that work with the healing powers of water.

The Gurus of Creation
Purva Ashada is under the rule of the 2 Gurus. #Venus is #Shukracharia, the #Guru of the #Asuras, and #Brhaspati ( #Jupiter) is the Guru of the #Devas. The Asuras are the dualised creative energies of the egg that splits upon fertilisation. The spermatozoa is the Devic singular force. We see that Purva Ashada is ruled by the Venusian Guru Shukracharia and is in the constellation of Sagittarius.

The stories tell that Shukracharia has in his possession a magical power that puts him in the possession of abilities that make him superior. It is the power of Sanjeevani Vidya that he possesses. This is the wisdom and power of bringing the dead to life. Shukracharia it is who brings life to the soul in an eternal circle of life and death.

“The seed holds the spirit,
but the egg is the doorway
of Sanjeevani
that permits incarnation.”
#Purva-Ashada Nakshatra is an auspicious time for the conception of a child, as power is given to the ovum and the spermatozoa. This Nakshatra brings the energies of Venus and Jupiter together, these planets are dualistic forces that if brought together result in creation.

Mythology & the Watery World
When Venus and Water Meet we get the mermaid, hence the star of Purva Ashada being connected to the Yakshinis, who are the elemental spirits connected to the water element in the unconscious. The Yakshinis stir in their depths when this Nakshatra is present.

The Yakshinis are the sexual elemental spirits of the second water ruled Shakti Chakra.

“Some aspects of Tantra
work with summoning & evoking
these sexual beings.”
The picture above is called Hylas and the Nymphs by the British painter John William Waterhouse. The Naiads are the water nymphs of Greek mythology. This story presents many poignant themes of Purva Ashada Nakshatra. The story tells how Hylas was on a search for fresh drinking water when came to an enchanting pond where the Naidas lured him in with their beauty.

The Naidas are similar to the Yakshinis of the unconscious watery worlds. They are energies that can lure us in by the promise of something wonderful.

The Yakshinis in the Indian mysteries offer treasure, pleasures and powers untold by those who find them, but like the story of Hylas, they can submerge us in an elemental world and keep us from fulfilling our karmic tasks. Hylas was looking for fresh water for the team of Argonauts but he never returned. We see him holding a jug of water in his left hand, the pond abounds with water lillies which interestingly are called Nymphaeaceae in Latin.

The tree of Purva Ashada Nakshatra is called the #Sita-Askhoka #tree. The stories tell us that the Ashoka forest was where Sita was kept captive by Ravan when he kidnapped her. The Expansive urge of Ravan was enticed by the Venusian caverns of Sita. Sita literally means a cavernous incline and is suggestive of the female Yoni. The Venusian ovum draws the expanse Jupitarian force, Ravan was so overcome that he stole her away. This is the theme of the Epic Ramayana.

The Ashoka is the tree that is sacred to the sensual water nymphs known as the Yakshinis. The Yakshins dwell in the deep unconscious levels of the inner world. Tantrics who make the unconscious conscious are able to see into the world of the Yakshins. Some Tantric magicians work primarily through Siddhis (powers) they gain from these elemental beings. Tantrics consider it a dangerous practice to enter into union with the elemental world for magical powers. It carries many dangers and karmic consequences for the soul.

We see in many fairy stories that humans become submerged in the fairy realm to their detriment. The story of the Fisherman and his Soul by Oscar Wilde hi-lights this allure of the elemental world wonderfully. The occult novel of the Sea priestess by Dion Fortune also covers the theme of elemental possession. The well known story of the Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson reverses the polarities and tells of a Mermaid who comes to the human world as opposed to the other way round.

Shooting Off
This Star brings a strong sense of Tapasya – this is quality of ruthlessness and fearless voyage towards the unseen. A yogin is for this reason called a Tapasyin. The word Asha in Ashada means hope and urge. This watery lunar house brings a battle like rush of water. It is activates the urge of the spermatozoa to merge with the ovum.

“The Ovum is Shukracharia (Venus)
and the Spermatozoa is Brhaspati (Jupiter).”
The urge to rush into the realms of life can become dispersing to our Shakti if we are focused on barren pursuits. Whether physically or psychically… we become aware of the nourishing or vampiric quality of our pursuits as the unconscious becomes conscious. When we gain insight into the motivation behind our urges, we come to see the mechanism of how they express into the fabric of our lives and the resultant effect thereof upon the Shakti we carry.

Brhaspati (Jupiter) is the biggest planet in our solar system. He abounds with an abundance of boundless energy. Purva Ashada is a time to study the focus of our urges. As this star is in the Brhaspati (Jupiter) ruled constellation of Sagittarius, the tendency to shoot out is pronounced. Under this star in concentrated ritual – Tantrics make a pronounced focus upon reversing the outward tendency of motion known as Privritti to the inward energy known as Nirvritti.

Brhaspati (Jupiter) is the ruler of Sagittarius. Brhaspati is the expansive energy of subtle wisdom, that is why he is the Guru of the Deva’s. The energy of Brhaspati is to expand and subtlety penetrate things. But the state of the fields of life that we are penetrating is to be taken into account, they will produce either barren or fruitful produce. The Tantric honours Shakti by discerning whether they are watering the field of death, or the field of life.

“The merging of the river
with the sea symbolism of this Nakshatra
is very much about the unconscious
becoming conscious.”
Remember the deity of this #star is #Apa, the #goddess of the #river. In the symbolism, she merges with the lover #Varuna the god of the #ocean through the releasing of parts of her identity that are born of unconscious imprints.
