End Private Healthcare Deaths: Invest in the NHS

BBC Panorama has revealed NHS patients have died following operations at private hospitals.

Over the past few years, the government has sent NHS patients to get operations in private hospitals, funded by taxpayers. Labour backs this policy.

The vast majority of private hospitals do not have intensive care units, meaning that if patients develop complications there, their lives are in danger.

Dear Wes Streeting and Victoria Atkins, stop putting NHS patients at risk. Instead of outsourcing operations to private hospitals, invest in the NHS so that it can treat all patients.

“Appalling clinical injuries, mostly upon children and women. Terrible burns, traumatic wounds, and no real room to deal with these tragic cases.”

Dr Nick Maynard, a volunteer consultant surgeon in Gaza, recalled a young girl with burns so bad on her face bone could be seen. “She clearly had no chance of survival and was going to die, but we had no pain relief to give her. She died in agony on the floor of the emergency department.”

..."The conservative-dominated 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled late Tuesday that Texas #hospitals and #physicians are not required by federal law to perform abortions under emergency circumstances.

The 25-page decision stems from a legal challenge that Texas filed in response to guidance issued in July 2022 by the U.S. Health and Human Services Department. The guidance states that the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) "protects providers when offering legally-mandated, life- or health-saving abortion services in emergency situations."

"If a state law prohibits abortion and does not include an exception for the health or life of the pregnant person—or draws the exception more narrowly than EMTALA's emergency medical condition definition—that state law is preempted," reads the guidance, which was published shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade.

Texas sued the federal government days after the guidance was released, arguing that the Biden administration was attempting to "compel healthcare providers to perform abortions." In August 2022, a federal judge blocked the guidance from taking effect in Texas, where state law allows private individuals to sue abortion providers and those who help people obtain abortions.

On Tuesday, a three-judge panel of the 5th Circuit—including two appointees of former President Donald Trump—affirmed the judge's decision. The U.S. Justice Department can appeal the ruling.

"We're seeing far-right judges working to deny women emergency abortion care even when their lives are in danger," said Murray, a lead sponsor of the Women's Health Protection Act. "Every American should be outraged at the never-ending crusade by Republicans to force women to stay pregnant no matter what—the bottom line is that we need a pro-choice majority in Congress that will restore Roe and every woman's right to abortion and stop politicians from interfering in private health care decisions that should be made by women and their doctors."

U.S. Sen. Patty Murray called the 5th Circuit's ruling "a horrifying and astonishingly dangerous decision from a court that has shown repeatedly they have absolutely no regard for women's lives."

There are barely any functioning healthcare facilities in Gaza, and the ones that are still functioning, despite the lack of electricity, medicine and supplies have to handle injured civilians, including many children at up to 400% their capacity.

This is just one image of many such hospital beds, many are not lucky to have a bed and being placed on the floors or in tents outside of the "hospitals".

We are not receiving updates from Gaza as we used to because of the almost total blackout of internet coverage enforced by Israeli forces, but the rare and few images and videos that comes out show the horror of desperate, overworked and exhausted heroes doing what ever they can with what little they have to help the victims of IDF ongoing bombings of civilians in various parts of Gaza.

Dozens hurt, children’s hospital damaged, in Russian missile attack on Kyiv

At least 53 people have been injured and a children’s hospital as well as homes damaged after Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

People were woken by a series of loud explosions as air defence systems brought down 10 ballistic missiles aimed at the capital, with the debris falling on the eastern side of the Dnipro river that flows through the city.

tens of thousands of deaths of innocent civilians, including MANY doctors, nurses, women and children, are a modern medieval horror that casts an indelible, lasting, terminal pile of shame on anyone in Netanyanu's government and (I'll say it clearly) anyone who supports Israel's actions.

But the deaths of tens of thousands of innocents is still a fraction of Gaza's population of over two million. What is actually FAR more damaging to Palestine's survival is the systematic and deliberate destruction of the entire infrastructure.

#Mosques, #churches, #schools, #libraries, #hospitals, hundreds if not thousands of residential apartment blocks, roads, gas stations, power systems, water supplies, and much much more. In fact, everything a civilization needs to function. If #Gaza is to be eradicated, that's what will do it unless there's a ceasefire VERY soon.

It is unbelievable that none of the western news agencies seems to be interested in saying that those tunnels and shelters were all built by Israel in the 1980s, and they have 0 intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the hostages, other than looking inside the bunkers they had built there.

Over 12000 Palestinians have been killed by IDF, and close to 200 in the occupied west bank, several refugee camps in the WB have been destroyed, health care centers, schools, administrative buildings and PLA/PLO members taken into indefinite detention.

It seems that there no ends to this madness and compliance of the media and world leaders accepting ever freaking lie from Israel without any critical questioning (some seems to slowly doing this, but with silk gloves).
