To people whom MSM and right wing media/politicians have convinced that the moral panic around trans people is a genuine concern, I'd ask you to do the following. For every story they put in your face about a "detransitioner" read 10 stories from trans people about their life experiences. I specify that ratio because the detransition rate is 5-10%. The overwhelming majority of that group isn't because they aren't "really" trans but because of things like: pressure from parents, the process being too difficult, too much harassement, unable to get a job. The rate of regret for people who have had gender affirming surgery is 1%, 1/10th that of general surgical procedures. All MSM and right wingers put in front of you are the scare stories as if people are being pressured to think they are trans when they are not. Not only is this nonsensical but it's not even in the data. It is excruciatingly hard for people to get access to care and jump through the hoops setup, and getting harder by the day thanks to Republican efforts. The notion that there is a cabal of teachers and trans people running around converting people is the same blood libel they've used against gay people. The notion that it is a social contagion is equally unfounded. I get the whole "protect the children" moral panic impulse. So does the right wing and MSM. That's why they are playing you like a fiddle with it almost identically to what they did with the topic of gay people and their acceptance in society 20-40 years ago. I know me saying "it's just a ginned up moral panic" won't mean anything so I ask you to again talk to actual trans people rather than just the cannon fodder "I wasn't really trans" detransitioners that MSM and the right wingers put in front of you. They far outnumber these types of cases. #lgbt #TransRightsAreHumanRights

Being born in the mid-70s I grew up when society was way more homophobic than now. I am familiar with all the scaremongering about gays in locker rooms/bathrooms if we were accepted as normal members of society instead of pariahs back then. Even though they saber rattled about gays needing separate bathrooms/locker rooms they never actually did it. The speed with which Republicans have pushed these anti-trans bathroom bills and the equivocation of everyone, including Democratic law makers, is deeply disappointing and disturbing. Bishop Niemöller's poem has never been more poignant than it is now. Gay people throwing trans people under the bus should already see the warning signs that we are going to be the next people put through the wringer. We can't let these bigoted assholes steamroll us on this stuff. #lgbt #uspoli #rant

Enfin!

I've been trying to explain this to Trump voting friends/family for years. I'm done with the explaining mode. I'm in holding grudges mode now. Since the ramifications will be felt for decades by me and my LGBT friends, you can assume the grudge against you will be as well. Forgive? Maybe, yes just maybe. Forget? Never. Fuck you. #uspoli #rant #lgbt

To the #leftists out there. You don't owe #liberals your vote, you don't owe them a damned thing, but you do owe #trans people, #disabled people, #LGBT people, #women, and disenfranchised people your vote. If you think Not #voting or voting #3rdparty will protect them then go ahead but if you have been paying attention to the election and the past presidency at all, you know that anything but a #Vote for #Harris will mean actively hurting all of these people. Both sides are complicit in genocide, but Trump will be even worse & everything I mentioned AND we will blow past 2C. this is not about voting FOR anyone. Its about making a chess move to protect as many people as possible. #Project2025 has people ready to hit the ground running to immediately start actively hurting these people. Also have fun losing all overtime pay, suckers.

Your Queer Friends Will Not Be Okay If You Sit This One Out

In the beginning, I wondered if he was flirting with me. Standing in line outside a row of single-occupancy bathrooms, this fella’s charming good-humor could reasonably have been read as a bit more than friendly if we had been in the libidinous gay bar I used to frequent across the street.

The success MAGA Republicans have had in pushing LGBT people back into the closet and reviving the "gays are grooming pedophiles" nonsense over the last few years is infuriating. They out-power and out-number us but they don't out number the normies. The normies have to be aware of the nonsense and actively push back. So far the MSM has done a horrible job of keeping people informed about this at best, taking the MAGA framing on it at worst, and too many normies seem content to let this all happen again. #rant #LGBT #uspoli

"Every day, it seems, anti-trans voices narrow who counts as a “real woman” in sports, in bathrooms and in life. Their fury and gender obsession come at the expense of women and girls who suddenly find themselves excluded from an increasingly restricted definition of womanhood." #lgbt

Banning puberty blockers is not a decision for politicians to make.

Informative piece from Aidan Kelly, a clinical psychologist who works in #gender services:

My colleagues and I know that puberty blockers can be helpful for a carefully selected minority of #transgender youth who have a clear and consistent understanding of their gender identity, demonstrated distress in relation to the initial stages of puberty, and are mature enough to consider – with the support of their parents or carers – the likely implications of this treatment pathway, balancing any potential side-effects with the potential benefits. This position is supported by the Endocrine Society’s 2017 guidelines, which it has reviewed and reaffirmed this year after the final Cass report.
