Still wondering how/why one person (McCarthy) in Congress can give away potentially classified, certainly editable footage of the #Jan6 insurrection/ #sedition to the demonstrably biggest source of #disinformation ever seen, with the apparent goal of concocting an alternative to the extensive #Jan6 inquiry by Congress, and giving "equal time for conspiracy and fabricated alternative to reality". How could this happen? Should McCarthy be included in new indictments for treason, as Carlson, friend of Putin and false narrative, is given keys to our 'official history'? How did this actually happen? Is this the final nail in the coffin of #truth, #history, and rationality in the USC? Carlson's 'qualification' to be handed the keys to our country's official history, for him to re-write and present to the non-reality-affirming #TrumpVirus cultists?

Wow.... a lesson in bald-faced lying, from the speaker of the new US House of Ill Repute.

In the aftermath of the 'new McCarthyism' in the #GQP #House, as #McCarthy sold what for other might be a soul, and rewarded the most obvious #sedition, #lie, and crazy-drenched Q-world conspiracy lovers (like MTG & #GymJordan) with committee assignments (#Santos the chemeliion too).... What about #truth, _ ever_, from McCarthy? A short anecdote from one of our national leaders who has strived to represent #democracy, and We the People, now kicked off the committees where he devoted himself to public service.

OK, McCarthy has finally been elected as speaker of Congress and a lot of media reported about it and lots of things happening in the (lengthy) process, as did Politico. But the reason I linked this specific article is this one paragraph:

Throughout the whole evening, Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) was reading the “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” while waiting on votes.

Unable to corral his caucus for what is usually an easy vote, there is no chance McCarthy would be able to get them on board for hard ones, like keeping the government open or raising the debt ceiling to avoid plunging the country into default. His best-case scenario is that he’d be a fragile figurehead, a hostage to the hard right and constantly in danger of defenestration. And even that scenario looks increasingly out of reach.

McCarthy’s approach to the far right has always been one of indulgence. Kevin McCarthy proposed more key concessions in his push to get 218 votes – including agreeing to propose a rules change that would allow just one member to call for a vote to oust a sitting speaker.

Meaning, he desperately just wants to at least have held the gavel.
