“I want to tell ... #Zelensky that he never again insults Poles as he did recently during his speech at the #UN. "The Poles will never allow it."

And Zelensky recently said in reference to the restrictions imposed on grain by #Warsaw:

It is "alarming to see how some in #Europe... are helping to set the stage for an actor from #Moscow."

#Russia has barred the export of #diesel and #petrol as crude oil prices rise towards $100 a barrel, marking a significant escalation that will raise fears #Moscow is weaponising oil supplies in retaliation for western sanctions.

The article make it sounds like Russia is the only supplier of oil and controls the oil market with their small share.

But hey, it is the season to blame everything on Russia and even a story about Russians problem with supplying gasoline and petrol for domestic use because of recent "accidents" in various parts of the country.

Ukrainian president, Vladimir #Zelenskyy accuses #Poland of "helping #Russia" in his #UN address at the Sustainable Development Goals Summit.

Russia has blocked our Black and #Azov sea ports and continues to target our Danube ports with missiles and drones. It tries to weaponize global food shortages in exchange for recognition of some, if not all, of the captured territories. Russia is launching food prices as weapons.

We opened a temporary sea export corridor. We’re working to preserve land routes. Alarmingly, some in #Europe play out solidarity in a political theater—turning grain into a thriller. They may seem to play their own roles. In fact they’re helping set the stage for a #Moscow actor.

#Georgia accuses Ukrainian official of plotting coup

Georgia on Monday accused a senior Ukrainian official of plotting to overthrow the Black Sea nation’s government by organising mass unrest, in the blatest episode of escalating tensions between the ex-Soviet countries.

#Kyiv said the claim was “untrue” and called it a Georgian attempt to “demonise” the war-torn country.

Tbilisi has been accused of cooperating with the #Kremlin even though Russian forces have deployed to separatist regions of #Abkhazia and South Ossetia since 2008, when #Moscow invaded the tiny #Caucasus country.

Georgian security services said the deputy chief of Ukraine’s military counterintelligence and Georgia’s former deputy interior minister, Giorgi Lortkipanidze, were plotting “destabilisation aimed at a violent overthrow of the government.”

It said Georgians fighting Russian forces in #Ukraine, including a bodyguard of Georgia’s jailed ex-president Mikhail Saakashvili, were among the conspirators being trained near Ukraine’s border with #Poland.

Ukraine has repeatedly called for Georgia to release #Saakashvili, who is now a Ukrainian national and a top advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr #Zelensky.

Kyiv has said that the Georgian authorities are “killing” the ailing politician on Kremlin orders and has demanded his transfer to a clinic abroad.

Georgia in turn has condemned what it said was “an extreme form of escalation in diplomatic relations”.

Georgia’s security service said anti-government protests “are being planned for October and December, when the European Commission is set to publish its decision on Georgia’s #EU membership application.”

It said the plot “is being carried out with the coordination and funding from a foreign country.”

Ukraine denied the allegations.

“This information is untrue,” Kyiv’s foreign ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said on Facebook.

“The current Georgian authorities are once again trying to demonise Ukraine in order to solve their internal political issues,” it said, adding:

“The Ukrainian state has not interfered, is not interfering and does not plan to interfere in Georgia’s internal affairs.”

The EU recognised Georgia’s “European perspective” last year, but deferred its membership application while granting candidacy to fellow ex-Soviet Ukraine and Moldova.

That has led to mass anti-government protests in Tbilisi, where the government is facing accusations of backsliding on its commitments to democracy and undermining Georgia’s EU membership bid.

Earlier in September, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said “there is still quite a bit of work to be done” by #Tbilisi to be granted formal candidate status.

#Moscow Times: Having Fled War, Russian Emigres in Israel Find Themselves Drafted to $IDF

— "Alice, a 17-year-old photographer, fled Russia for Israel shortly after the start of the war in #Ukraine. Months later, she was summoned to serve in the Israeli army.

“I left Russia because of the war, and I cannot imagine myself serving in any army, in any country,” Alice told The Moscow Times in a phone interview.

“I don't want to have anything to do with killing people at all. Even if I don’t do it myself, I don’t want to wear the same uniform as people who, for whatever reason, kill others.”

She is one of hundreds of Russian emigres who, after fleeing their country’s wartime crackdown or mobilization, now find themselves facing military service in Israel — and the moral dilemmas that come with it."

New York Times: Troop Deaths and Injuries in #Ukraine #War Near 500,000, U.S. Officials Say

— "The total number of Ukrainian and Russian troops killed or wounded since the war in Ukraine began 18 months ago is nearing 500,000, U.S. officials said, a staggering toll as #Russia assaults its next-door neighbor and tries to seize more territory.

The officials cautioned that casualty figures remained difficult to estimate because #Moscow is believed to routinely undercount its war dead and injured, and Kiev does not disclose official figures. But they said the slaughter intensified this year in eastern Ukraine and has continued at a steady clip as a nearly three-month-old counteroffensive drags on."

Russia deports another 450 Ukrainian children

Russia has deported another 450 children from areas of Ukraine under Russian occupation, the National Resistance Center reported on Aug. 17.

According to the center, 50 Ukrainian high school students were sent to #Yaroslavl, a city about 250 kilometers northeast of #Moscow. The center believes that once there, Russian teachers will try to convince the students to continue their higher education at Yaroslavl State University.

Another:

  • 200 children from occupied parts of Luhansk Oblast
  • 150 children from Kherson Oblast
  • 50 children from Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Were all sent to 'summer camps' in #Krasnodar region.

Ukrainian children are taught to believe Russian propaganda in these camps and attend activities like Russian patriotic concerts. At the end of the camp, #Ukrainian children are often not returned home.

Hundreds of pieces of heavy military equipment seized by Russian troops during the campaign against #Ukraine have been put on display as part of a massive open-air exhibition just outside of #Moscow. Visitors are able to view both Ukrainian-made weapons and those provided to Kiev by the West.

Videos published in Russian media showed dozens of trophy weapons lined up at the ‘Patriot Park’ venue located west of the Russian capital. The exhibition is part of the international military and technical forum ‘Army-2023’.

The Russian Defense Ministry, which organized the event, said the exhibition includes everything from American M-113 armored personnel carriers and Swedish CV90-40’s to French wheeled AMX-10RCR tanks and Australian Bushmaster armored vehicles.

According to the ministry, the event features a fair amount of British-made equipment such as Husky and Mastiff armored vehicles. Accompanying descriptions also relate how and where each weapon was captured by Russian troops.

Over 870 types of armaments seized by Russian forces were provided for the exhibition. Most examples are either Soviet-made or produced in Ukraine. The event features not only ground equipment, but also several patrol boats captured in the Black Sea port city of Mariupol.

The Russian Defense Ministry regularly reports on the destruction of Ukrainian systems in the ongoing conflict. According to the ministry, Kiev’s military has lost some 5,000 pieces of heavy equipment in largely unsuccessful attempts to break through Russian defenses since the start of their counteroffensive in early June.

Russia’s armed forces also regularly publish photos and videos of captured Ukrainian vehicles, including Western-made examples. One such clip featured a German-made Leopard tank.

Earlier this week, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said that there is “nothing unique or invulnerable to Russian weapons,” including Western-made arms. Some Soviet-era weapons have even proven to be superior in combat to their modern Western equivalents, he added.
