The #Wagner Group will likely no longer exist as a quasi-independent parallel military structure following Russian President Vladimir #Putin’s #almost certain assassination of Wagner financier Yevgeny #Prigozhin.

Can someone point out the source of this unfounded claim? Do you know of less biased information regarding this subject?

An Embraer Legacy 600 Business jet crashed in the Bologovsky district of the Tver region, Russia.

⚡️It’s registration number is number RA-02795, some suspect its tied to PMC Wagner, although no evidence has been provided for that claim.

Baza, citing the Russian Emergencies Ministry, reports that the plane on which Evgeny Prigozhin (the head of Wagner group)flew was flying from Moscow to #StPetersburg

Wagner linked telegram “Grey Zone” suggests that the plane that supposedly carried Prigozhin was shot down.

Russian telegram with ties to #Wagner claims that people close to #Prigozhin and Dimitri Utkin confirmed their deaths

An interesting thesis.

Short story: The author makes a case that Prigozhin's "coup" was a ruse/pretext designed to give Russia an excuse to use tactical nukes.

FTA: According to a Russian military doctrine stated in 2010, nuclear weapons could be used by Russia "in response to the use of nuclear and other types of weapons of mass destruction against it or its allies, and also in case of aggression against Russia with the use of conventional weapons when the very existence of the state is threatened". Most military analysts believe that, in this case, Russia would pursue an 'escalate to de-escalate' strategy, initiating limited nuclear exchange to bring adversaries to the negotiating table. Russia will also threaten nuclear conflict to discourage initial escalation of any major conventional conflict. [emphasis in original]

... One of [Putin's] biggest concerns right now is that the West doesn’t take his threats seriously anymore. Russia’s escalate to de-escalate strategy has been completely defanged because no one believes they will actually follow through on anything.

But what if Putin was to find a veritable madman with a criminal background, who is known for being ruthless and brazen, and who has shown some mettle on the battlefield?

... Russia needs a madman on their side who will scare the hell out of the West and make them take Russia’s nuclear threat more seriously. Yevgeny Prigozhin is the perfect stand-in for that.

What happened over the weekend was coordinated by the entire Russian Security apparatus, including the FSB. Putin and Prigozhin played their leading roles perfectly, with Lukashenko coming in at the right moment with his supporting all.

... _Watch carefully what happens in Belarus from here on out.

There is a reason why Putin transferred tactical nuclear weapons there; there is a reason for this Prigozhin-led stunt failed coup; there is a reason Lukashenko was the one to broker that “agreement” at the right moment and then offer Prigo that convenient opportunity to “exile” in Belarus.

Russia wants the West to take its nuclear threats seriously again. It wants to be able to effectively use its military doctrine of escalate to de-escalate. What better way to do that than to stealthily install an unhinged madman in a client state that you just armed with nuclear weapons? This allows Russia to keep its fingers on the nuclear trigger while employing plausible deniability. [emphasis mine]

There’s something to be said here about the analytic model that prevails in our time - there’s a machine that instantly springs to life, taking in rumors and partial information in an environment of extreme uncertainty and spitting out formulaic results that match #ideological presuppositions. #Information is not evaluated neutrally, but forced through a cognitive filter that assigns it meaning in light of predetermined conclusions. #Russia is supposed to collapse and undergo regime change (Fukuyama said so) - therefore, #Prigozhin’s actions had to be framed in reference to this assumed endgame.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, we saw some similar measure of aggressive model-fitting from “Trust the Plan” Russia supporters, who were confident that the #Wagner uprising was just an act - an elaborate ruse concocted in concert by Prigozhin and #Putin to fool Russia’s enemies and advance the plan. The analytic error here is the same - information is parsed only for the purpose of buttressing and advancing a pre-concluded endgame; except it is Russian omnicompetence which is assumed instead of Russian state collapse.

Interesting read on Prigozhin's life... (still present tense?)

The inside man who shook the Kremlin: Who is Yevgeny Prigozhin, and what’s next for him?

I've been disliking how many news story links lead to video-only stories; though some TV reports are excellent, the text from the original dynamic news-splash pages go away & all that's left is the vid. :(

/rant

So here's an actual in-writing article about 'who Prigozhin is' - which is interesting. And nobody can say for sure now, much about his present or future. A flash of light, a long-time tyrannical oligarch, hero & slayer of conscripts... But for sure an historical figure, #Prigozhin

Wow... "yesterday's news" now, but powerful and still fresh. Wagner, exit stage Russia.... Mostly uncut, 7 mins footage from the streets of Rostov-on-Don

'Putin has never been so humiliated and weak': Russia experts say strongman president has been reduced to a bystander after begging Lukashenko to negotiate truce with Wagner leader Prigozhin

Garry Kasparov, the former chess champion turned fierce Putin critic, said the 70-year-old had been 'humiliated'. Others noted how he was forced to rely on Belarus's president for support.

Yevgeny Prigozhin and Wagner fighters greeted with cheers as they leave Rostov-on-Don

"Today the world saw that the masters of Russia do not control anything. Nothing at all." - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

I'd not be surprised if state media in RU turns this into a story about Russia successfully defending Rostov from Ukraine.

Here is the envisioned picture of Putin riding naked away from the Kremlin.

Man, you could feel the disappointment and frustration emanating from the Washington establishment. The political equivalent of premature ejaculation. Last night (Friday) you could hear the popping of champagne corks and popcorn as media and intelligence officials huddled around computer screens awaiting images of a distraught Putin running naked away from the Kremlin. Biden and his team remind me of Wiley Coyote in terms of the despair they suffer as they watch their harebrained schemes to catch Putin crash and burn. I did not write that, he did!
