My OC, Jayden Lazarus. Also known as 'Ducky' and 'Ducko', and rarely ever his actual name.

After a successful Remigration from Sigma back to Nexus, our pretty little ESFJ ducky, Jayden has been working tirelessly to ensure that the Remigrants are adapting well to their homeworld once more. So much so that he has been indirectly elected as their leader. Everything would go through him (and he can't deny that he somewhat enjoys this).

One of the first things he did was to make sure everyone knew their history. He was a Royal Historian before all this, after all. He would teach them history by telling it like a story. Kids love him, and sometimes even the adults sit and listen.

Upon recently obtaining the technology of writing, Jayden is slowly having a small library. Most of the existing publications were written by him before the realm was hit by catastrophe, and he managed to save some. He is working towards making more written pieces, slowly but surely.

:: 46-031 [TJH] SU Maddox ::

The grumpy army medic Maddox has come to a decision to accept the offer to join the Special Unit/SU.
(Maddox: "There goes my access to a legal... substance... lab." -_-)

Maddox has always loved his realm/country, so it was rather expected that he'd join the SU and enforce the Special Laws of the realm that basically keeps local gang activities in check and limiting outside influence (for now, there is only Nexus).

The latter is Maddox's focus. He wants to make sure that Sigma remains as Sigma. He wasn't bothered about local gangs, but he is very sensitive when Nexus lifestyle tries to seep into Sigma. He believes that Sigma and Nexus are two different cultures and lifestyle, so it was unnatural for one to behave like the other. This is also why he gave his 110% during the Remigration Project.

Now that all the Nexus Immigrants have gone home, only a handful of Sigma-born ones are left. Although most of them have been assimilated, Maddox wants to make sure they remain monitored and kept in line.

He will miss being a medic. He won't be wearing this outfit all the time though, since SUs usually do undercover work. So, he might be wearing a medic get-up once again some day...

It's been months since my story, The Journey Home/TJH ended.

It makes me wonder what has become of the Nexus Immigrants who could finally return home. I have a few possible scenarios of what has happened after, but it's all just ideas for fun. I don't think I am continuing the story (you can read the summary at its website btw, link in my profile).

For the Nexus folks, I imagine Jayden to be unofficially elected as village leader, lol. Officer Annie would be in charge of security along with Matsuri. Jayden's hair should have grown longer since they first came, so I made Officer Annie braid it while he wonders how to improve their little settlement. Although this is like a 'girly scene' getting hair braided, braids were actually a symbol of status in Nexus...and Jayden's going to make sure it remains as such.

And yes, generic landscape as background, lol. If you see ocean, it's Vista. If like this where you see some sort of ruin, it's Silverya. Yet to draw a scene in other regions like the thick jungle hills and the desert.

Hello, everyone! Yes, this is the Artfol Challenge that managed to convince my hand to finally draw something after 2 months of artist block. [ Artfol link]

It features Vic, with Tsumura at the back there with a non-ergonomic workstation. As for the person standing by Vic's legs, I hope you guys can guess who it is, haha~

Remove yourself, Vic; you're in the way.
Huh, Vic's not budging. He wants to lie down on the couch, no matter what.
Someone stops right next to his jutting-out legs, saying, "Your salary for the month is reducing with every passing second you block my path, at a rate of n-minus-1 per second."
Vic doesn't react. He's going to show he's not scared of trivial pay cut threats. He wants to lie down on the couch, no matter what.
Seconds later, Vic opens his eyes and realises no one is there anymore, except Tsumura at the back.
His phone beeps a moment after. He flips it open and sees a text message that reads, "I will discipline you after this."
He closes his phone and continues lying down. 'You don't scare me, Suit,' he thinks.

It is already night time. Manel must hurry before his dad starts worrying.

Manel walks on to see the final buddy in his social circle: Aoi Shintaro, his best bud. Since Shin's girlfriend, Rocío is out on her own, Manel has an idea of where Shintaro is most likely at... He heads over to the ATC Art Gallery where the Aois live. He takes a peek through the window on the side. He sees Shintaro.

Shintaro sees him and went to greet him.
"Hey, Shin," says Manel.
"Hey, Manel," Shin replies with a smile. "What are you doing here?"
"Just checking up on you... and everyone else..."
"Haha, what a thing to do!"
"What are you doing?" asks Manel, seeing Shin's dad at the back, cleaning the frame of a painting with a cloth.
"I'm helping my dad clean the frames. It's gotten a bit too dusty recently," says Shintaro.
Manel nods, satisfied. "OK, I'm going to go now. Have to be home quick before my father worries."
Shin nods. "Bye then, Manel."
"Bye, Shin."

Manel walks on. All that is left now is to see what his best friend Shintaro is up to, and maybe Rocío is there with him, since they're always together nowadays.

The couple is nowhere in sight-- wait, there's Rocío right now.

(Rocío is the middle character.)

She is taking a selfie with a fan. Ah yes, Rocío is trying to become a content creator and influencer on the social media. She wants to make her page focus on beauty and skincare (and she features Rosa's products as well!).

Since a fan wishes to take selfie with her, Manel assumes everything is going fine; and he walks on without disturbing them. If Rocío is out here on her own, then Manel has an idea of where Shintaro is most likely at...

:: 46-020 [AL] Surpassing Sindri ::

Before seeing Rosa & Piht previously, Manel stumbles upon Thiazi the bully.

Thiazi doesn't bully as much anymore. He manages to finish school, enter the military school, and gets enlisted. All that just so he could surpass Sindri (in what exactly, no one is sure). So, now that he is a soldier, he doesn't care anymore about what Sindri does or excels in because Sindri's not a soldier like him.

Manel is impressed that Thiazi has actually accomplished this.
This is definitely worth writing about; how rivalry, envy, and jealousy can bring such positive results.

Trivia:
In TJH3, Thiazi does become a soldier and remains standing guard at the Nexus Camp. He simply wishes to have greater reputation than Sindri, though at the same time, he is viewed as noble by the returning Nexus citizens at the camp.

Manel walks on, wondering who he will see next.

What is that in the sky? A witch and a bird! It is Rosa Peace the apprentice potion brewer, and Piht the Piht.

What are they doing? They seem to be returning home after gathering ingredients. It must be for Rosa's potions. It's good to see Rosa is still spirited in potion-brewing and that Piht has something enjoyable to do.

"Hmm," Manel wonders. "Carrying ingredients by flight... Is this air freight?? Interesting! But since when do our brooms have the power of flight??"

Hmm~ what are the kiddos up to these days? Haven't seen 'em in a while. They were last spotted drinking unknown potions.

Manel says, "I shall do a check-in on my friends!"
He grabs his tablet computer and stylus, and out he goes~

Let's follow Manel around... Aha, Sindri and Idun!

"Come, Manel," says Sindri. "Hear me recite!"
Manel walks over and finds a place to sit.
Sindri begins reciting a poem he had just written ten minutes ago.

Manel can now understand Sindri's recital as the Aquila can now speak fluently and write properly after attending school. Sindri has come a long way since then.

Manel attempts to draw Sindri instead of writing about him.
Sindri's little sister, Idun looks on, finding Manel's sketch funny.

Trivia:
In this 'AU' called Another Life/AL, all my OCs coexist in this one world.
In the TJH trilogy, Sindri and his family have returned home to Nexus.

:: 46-016 Tsumura's Room ::

So, decided to give you a glimpse of Tsumura's room back in his 'natural habitat'.
Don't take the room's width and interior too seriously.
The idea of this is too ambitious for me. T_T

Basically...

His place is usually dimly-lit, most of the light coming from his monitors and the few interior lighting he has. As a Nocturnal, he can see in the dark, but his eyes are sensitive to strong lights. That is why he doesn't have much lighting and that he has goggles with him. When he is on the computer for intense stuff, he'll put 'em on.

Tsumura's habitat must-haves: at least two desktop computers, one laptop, three servers, cyan neon lights, a box fort to sleep in. Anything else can come in later, haha.

:: 46-015 Don't Worry For Now ::

Vic is concerned.

He hasn't seen his boss, Aaron a lot lately and there has been no talk of work from that ESTJ -- and that is highly suspicious. Worse, their team is down to four people now: him, Aaron, Tsumura, and a yet-to-report-in physician. :') The rest have been transferred elsewhere. (Vic wouldn't admit it, but having Maddox and Silas on the team would be great.)

Vic can see things are looking bleak.

Tsumura, although surprised at Vic's concern about a Suit and about work, tries to comfort him by saying it's alright, that Aaron's probably attending meetings and discussion on what their next expedition will be. "Aaron is the best boss," he says. "We can count on him."

Vic is not convinced.

Misc.:
My OCs, Tsumura the I.T. guy and Vic the inter-dimensional traveller. They're hanging out at Tsumura's place. His room is usually darker than this, but he knows Vic gets annoyed with dark environment, so he switched on an extra light. I wanted to do up the bg to show Tsumura's room, but I realised that Tsumura now lives in a unit within the government quarters, so this scene pales in comparison with his natural habitat. :') Lotsa restrictions on computer stuff; Government's keepin a close eye on this ex-convict.
And uhm... tbh, I'm not to happy with this piece. :/ And I think I will go back to my usual brushes.

"Where did you say you were from again...?" Thomas asks Vic.

What if Vic stepped through a rogue portal (a sudden portal with random destinations) and ended up in Midgard (that of Ragnarök Online)? o_O And for the heck of it, he meets my RO priest, Thomas Benedicta! xD I bet you he'd be in the midst of making holy water.

Thomas wouldn't be too weirded out at first because Vic's outfit is like that of a Mechanic’s (alternate version), or if he has a gun with him, he’s a Gunslinger. In terms of tech, Midgard’s like the Nexus in its glory days, so it should not be too hard for Vic to adapt. Besides, portals are such a norm there.

Still, some things will definitely be weird for Vic, like a priest having a pet ghost. Whispersio waves hi at Vic, but if it punches Vic, that's true friendship!

Misc:
I'm trying out a new brush set, 'Chalks for Children'. It's quite fun. I also avoided using ruler/line tool for the window for more squiggly-ness, haha.

Nexus version of Vic, back when Vic was the 'Sorcerer of the East' and not yet 'Project ViC'. He's trying to look more pleasant than evil here. He was described as 'the dark one with skin as pale as the moon and hair as red as blood'.

This is the outfit he wore after his genocide mission. He's wearing a traditional Nocturnal fashion to comemorate them (and as a sign of remorse, to make it feel as though they were still with him). After the mission, he spent his whole life rebuilding the Nocturnal colony.

The present colony in post-Catastrophe Nexus does not welcome him, no matter what version of a Vic he is (and currently, as Project ViC, he's totally fine with this).

It just occurred to me that no matter which life he was leading, Vic always had a Nocturnal by his side. Vic doesn't really have the Noc vibe, so he couldn't have been drawn to them. Were they drawn to him then?

When he was in LA, his best friend Matthew was a Nocturnal (not that any of them knew this at the time).
When in old Nexus as Sorcerer Vic (or 'Freaky Vic' as he calls it), he had Matsuri watching over him.
Now, when he's in Sigma, he's got Tsumura with him.

Makes me wonder if there was any of my OCs who always had an Aquila or a Místic with them.

After many months, RESET (Research and Special Expedition Team) sends a few people forth to go on a final trip to Nexus to check up on the Nexus camp of Remigrants. It wasn't compulsory, but Aaron wanted to make sure they were all doing well for just one more time before conclusively closing the book on Sigma's Migration chapters.

The team consists of our red chilli Vic, of course, curly-haired Thompson (a PMC), and one random medic. No, not Maddox. Maddox actually applied to be exempted from any future Nexus trips due to "health issues".

So here, under a tent, Vic gets the status report from Officer Annie (now known as just Miss Annie) and according to her, everything was going well. Their little settlement still has ways to go, but they will manage. After getting all the needed info and pictures, the team heads home. Vic reports to Aaron, Aaron likes what he sees, and Aaron will report to the DoD and make sure DoD also like what they see.

So... to conclude the trilogy: Vic has found a place to call home, Tsumura gets to remain in his homeworld, Aaron's hitting homerun with RESET and the Remigration Project, and the Nexus people (especially Jayden) that had to leave home have now returned to it.

The Journey Home trilogy has (finally) ended.

Vic sees two soldiers in the DoD hallway while waiting for Aaron.
This is from a time when the three of them didn't know each other yet, and when RESET was still not fully-established.

Was supposed to be a monochromatic semi-chibi, but I guess it became something else. x'D And uhhh I am aware that Maddox and Vic are too close to the edge... and that Maddox is too close to Silas, lol.

📖 Snippet:
After a few moments of leaning against the wall, Vic heard two men walking down the hallway. They were wearing military uniforms, talking. Vic stood straight now, curious.
One of them had an expressionless face, while the other had a face like he had been annoyed his entire life. They walked past him, but the expressionless one paused. Seeing a civilian made him curious, but being here must mean he's a government employee. He looked at Vic and asked, “Which department?”
Vic only looked at him.
“Which department are you from?” he asked again.
“Uh… RESET,” answered Vic, hoping that was it. The other guy looked at Vic like he was disgusted just by the sight of him.
“…Reset?” he paused to think. “Oh, RESET.” With that he nodded and carried on. Vic heard the other guy asking him what RESET was.
Once Aaron was done and the two were headed back, Vic asked “Saw some soldiers just now. Do people not know about RESET?”
“Not yet,” said Aaron. “Right now, only the relevant people would know… and maybe their direct subordinates. Once we make our first expedition, a revisit, then we’re official and they’ll know us.”

'Tis here, everybody. Me art summary for the 2022! I hope I will be as productive as this year for 2023, especially for my story illustrations. :>

I dub Maddox as OC of the year (the dude in Jan, Apr, and May). He is a medic in the army who did a good job leading an expedition that kickstarts the Remigration Project. This 'Mr Grumpy Gills' actually has a good future ahead of him, although he is a super side character.
