UK's mindless, hostile & aggressive local councils

Stoke-on-Trent couple fined £1,200 after clearing up rubbish

Their road had been blighted with “disgusting” #litter for years.

But after Mr Pinter cleaned up some of the rubbish and left it out in a cardboard box by the full bins, the pair each received £600 fines.

The city council said all fly-tippers would be punished with fixed penalty notices and considered the matter resolved.

Ms Mike, 41, said people would often dump waste around the bins on their street which she claimed would not get collected and would attract animals.

I’m actually afraid to walk past it in the street because I’ve seen a lot of #rats and what looks like stray cats

Mr Pinter, 46, collected the rubbish into the box, which had his name printed on it, on 29 April after seeing the litter blowing around.

He said the bins on the street were full so he had to leave the box next to them in the hope it would be collected.

Reform UK accused of using ‘AI generated candidates’ in election

The party has been hit by a series of revelations about the online activities of some of its would-be MPs, from links to a British fascist leader to suggestions the UK should have remained neutral in the fight against the #Nazis and admiration of #Hitler’s “brilliant” ability to inspire action.

But now, there is speculation as to whether some of them even exist, with social media users pointing out that some of their pictures on leaflets appear to be #AI generated.

“We might be on the verge of a HUGE SCANDAL. Suspicions have been raised that #ReformUK have fielded election candidates that aren’t real people. Is there any evidence that Mark Matlock (candidate for Clapham & Brixton Hill) actually exists? He looks AI generated,” said one userin a now viral post.

Largest #UK public sector trial of four-day week sees huge benefits, research finds

In the largest public sector trial of the four-day week in #Britain, fewer refuse collectors quit and there were faster planning decisions, more rapid benefits processing and quicker call answering, independent research has found.

South Cambridgeshire district council’s controversial experiment with a shorter working week resulted in improvements in performance in 11 out of 24 areas, little or no change in 11 areas and worsening of performance in two areas, according to analysis of productivity before and during the 15-month trial by academics at the universities of Cambridge and Salford.

The trial by the Liberal Democrat-controlled authority drew a furious reaction from the Conservative government, with a minister telling the borough leader, Bridget Smith, to “end your experiment immediately”, complaining that it would not give value for money for local taxpayers.

The Tory former local MP, Anthony Browne, who was defeated by a Liberal Democrat in last week’s general election, had attacked the trial as “an ideological crusade”.
