On clear #Mornings, just before #Sunrise, you can often see the #EarthShadow receding in the #West, as the #Sun rises in the #East. Here, you can see the dark band just above the #Horizon, while the rest of the #Sky is already lighter.

#Post-office #Horizon inquiry GS George Thomson decided #Fujitsu and franchise holders of any kind were his responsibility: not the union members. Keeps having to be told to keep his answers direct rather than showboating his opinion.
Threats as “incentives” from the #Post-Office after a sub-postmaster committed suicide due to false data from the #Fujitsu #Horizon software caused his family to repay thousands of pounds they’d never stolen. Then, when the post office he ran was robbed and he was injured, the Post Office decided he was partly responsible and forced him to pay some of the losses due to the robbery.
One of the disadvantages of a fine day is that the #HighPressure keeps #dust and #pollution trapped at lower levels of the #atmosphere. This makes #visibility poor. Not far off sunset and you can see a layering effect in the mid and #background with the #horizon barely visible in the #haze.

Earlier today, I used a #MacroLens to #photograph a subject close up. Now I switched to a #telephoto lens with a #FocalLength of 400 mm to capture objects effectively at #infinity.
You may have seen some of my #sunset #photographs before and, yes, it's the same #horizon and the same old #Sun but this one caught my eye because of its sharpness. There wasn't a cloud in the vicinity of the Sun when it was setting. You can see the bright, smoothly varying #yellow, #gold and #orange of the #sky contrasting the dark, sharp #silhouettes of the #trees in the #foreground. Also there's that mobile phone mast too.
#Cropping the image around our local #star, you see the #trees in what I'm calling #ExtremeSilhouette as the blinding light of the Sun seem to flow around solid wood and renders it invisible with only the ends of branches seemingly suspended in mid air disconnected to the trunk and giving the Sun the appearance of having spiky hair.
A little after #sunset and the #NewMoon at #dusk is approaching the #western #horizon, with #Earthshine illuminating the "dark" side. There's also #Venus there and, if you look very closely, you can also see #Saturn to the bottom right of the #planet. Add in a wisp of #cloud, an #aeroplane and its #contrail in the mid distance, #trees and a #house nearby and finish it off with a #sky turning from smoothly from deep #orange to a dark #blue and you end up with rather a nice collage. I used a #tripod to get a good #photograph here.
Post #sunset, the sky cleared up somewhat and the #gold on the #horizon merged into the deep #blue of approaching night. (Apologies about the slightly blurred images as I didn't have time to set up my #tripod.)
The #fog had dissipated from the #neighbourhood but lingered as #mist on lower ground like a #translucent #shroud of #water #vapour.
Two #photographs taken at #dusk. The first is just before #sunset with a #house and #trees in the #foreground in #silhouette. I like the #LensFlare in this #image.
The next was taken about a quarter of an hour later when the #Sun had passed over the #horizon. This illuminates to #clouds nicely. You can also see an #aeroplane and its short #contrail too.
Earlier, I posted an #overcast #sky but the #clouds are clearing along the western #horizon. Here the #sunset is approaching but I would call this a #sunsink, as the #Sun emerges from its erstwhile #occlusion but the #Earth is about to rotate it over the edge into #night. The #orange light cast into this room was beautiful for a few moments.
Today was again a #sunny end to the #day and I decided to take #portrait #photographs of the #sunset. This shows a greater portion of #sky away from the #horizon and so you can gauge the #colour gradients better.
This first one gives a wider (taller) field of view without the window frame encroaching into the #image.
The second one is slightly more zoomed in.
