ActivityPub plugin for WordPress Adds Your WordPress Site to the Fediverse

Screen headed ActivityPub with a welcome message and a form for the author profile to be completed with a username and profile URL.
This plugin effectively turns your WordPress blog into a one-person Mastodon (or another microblog) instance on the Fediverse. You carry on doing your blogs as normal, but anyone from right across the Fediverse can find and follow you, and reply and like your posts.

What is really nifty is that replies from the Fediverse appear as comments on the WordPress blog post. So, you manage all the interactivity from inside WordPress.

This is ideal for those who are primarily focussed on their blog and would prefer to manage things there. Their Fediverse address will be that of their blog (with that domain name). In this way, you also own your Fediverse address and retain your blog’s branding.

This is perfect for businesses who run WordPress news blogs already, and who do not want to establish, and manage, a separate Fediverse account. Retaining their own branding is also the cherry on the top for them.

If you already have a Fediverse address, then that stays separate from your blog’s address.

Hey everyone, I’m #newhere. I’m interested in #blogging, #camping, #hiking, #school, and #sport-shooting.

Everyone I know is on #Facebook but God, it's awful! All ads, lots of political stuff, and lots of narcissistic "Ain't I cute? Here's another picture of me being cute!" I want to make a blog maybe, and talk about more interesting things. I'm not like most other kids I guess, and Facebook isn't a good place to blog or be taken seriously. I hope there are other kids here to make friends with.

I read about #Diaspora being the easiest platform for new people in the #Fediverse to learn so here I am trying out Diaspora.

Over the summer I was really ramping up my Friendica contributions so wrote some quick guides on how to set it up for serving or developing. Then other projects looked like it'd be a while before I'd get back to it so I crushed all my VMs. Now I'm contributing again so have my handy blog posts to help me bootstrap again. This is *exactly* why I put this stuff on my blog in the first place. Helps others and even makes it easier to help my future self. #blogging #friendica #friendicadev #fediverse #documentation https://nequalsonelifestyle.com/2022/07/30/creating-friendica-server-ubuntu/

I like #Naver's #blogging platform. Fast, simple, distraction free. #Google's #Blogger and #Automattic's #WordPress should learn from it and other Korean publishing platforms.

The language divide allowed them to develop better tools than the rest of the world.

What Korean pub platforms can learn from the world are meta tags, semantic web, and similar technologies which makes content easy to consume elsewhere, or at least display in other SNS services.

Twitter now lets all users ‘unmention’ themselves in tweets | TechCrunch

Twitter announced today that it’s rolling out its “Unmentioning” feature to all users on all devices. The new feature, which Twitter initially began testing in April, allows users to remove themselves from conversations they don’t want to be a part of.

katharsisdrill@datataffel.dk

Up until now, this Katharsisdrill profile has been reserved for finished artworks only, the ones that are published in high resolution and as Creative Commons -by 4.0. All the other stuff, the reshares, the ancient artworks, the jazz-tunes and the #dongday pictures are on my other profile, the Jakobu one and that also includes sketches, eveningdrawings and other artworks that I have been reluctant or unready to deem finished.

But now that I have The Katharsisdrill website with a complete catalogue of all the art I have published, there is really no need for me not to write more casual posts on this profile - and at least all the things that has to do with my art - sketches, inspiration, my feeble attempts to make people support the project, announcements when I make a Kickstarter (which I am planning to do soon) and other things that really are part of the Katharsisdrill work.

So here is the sketch for the artwork I posted three days ago - Norn the mechanic God. Many things start of as simple as that and many things start on paper. For all its fancy stuff, digital art still has a hard time competing with the freedom offered by a piece of paper.

Thousands of my tech posts are searchable at https://gadgeteer.co.za/blog

I blog daily about tech news, green tech, and open source software that is probably of interest to most people, and it is easy to search on my blog for any topics covered before. I also have a focus on tech news relating to South Africa specifically, but there are hashtags as well when the news relates to any other specific country or broad category of technology.

It's my hobby so there is no paid advertising or information sharing done by me, and my only criteria for selecting what I blog about is the news must catch my eye when I'm scanning feeds daily.

I finally managed to add a working "comment on Diaspora" button on my blog posts: it will ask to the user the domain of his pod and will open the post in that pod so the users of every pod that federate with mine will be able to comment! Note: it will work only with recent posts on my blog, I need to update the old ones.
