Photographer Joseph Ford and knitter Nina Dodd have for the last several years worked on their collaborative project called Invisible Jumpers, in which Dodd would knit a garment that blends in with a chosen environment and then Ford would photograph the wearer.  The book was published in 2019 ... but the project continues adding animals, arists, musicians to the project.  As Ford explains:

"The locations have to be eye-catching but simple enough to be able to be knitted. They also have to be places that aren’t going to change too fast, as the knitting takes a few weeks...

Once I’ve found the location, I photograph someone standing where I would like the model to be in the final picture. I draw over this scouting photograph and annotate the picture with different colors and patterns so Nina can plan how to knit. Often there are 10 or 12 different shades of yarn in a single picture, and up to 24 balls of wool at any one time for the more complicated designs. The choice of yarn has varied according to the background."

Ein kreativer Tag gibt viele Bilder.
Was also machen?
Kleine Thema-Serien?
Einzelnen Bilder einen Titel geben?

Ich poste also mal alles - eine gute Mischung ist ja auch Abwechslungsreich.😉

:: 46-022 Some Plantation ::

Was walking at a park, saw some plantation...? Decided to draw it. They have mini palm trees which I have forgotten the name of.

That's all, nothing special. >_>

Le burnout autistique : définition, caractéristiques et impact

https://comprendrelautisme.com/le-burnout-autistique-definition-caracteristiques-et-impact/

Artificial camouflage for robots. By "artificial camouflage" here, they are talking about imitating the camouflage of animals that can dynamically change their camouflage as the move about their environment, for example cephalopods.

The system developed here uses something called thermochromic liquid crystal. "Thermochromic" just means something changes color depending on temperature. So the key is controlling temperature which is done by stacking multilayer silver nanowire heaters. Being able to accurately control all of the nanowires allows fine patterns to be expressed.

It occurred to me that while this might be good for visible light camouflage, a military enemy with night vision equipment is easily going to see the heat due to the infrared light it produces, which far from providing camouflage will make the thing you're trying to hide pop out.

Photographer Spots Owl Perfectly Blending Into a Tree

image

A photographer was hunting for a great grey owl to photograph in a Canadian forest when he happened to come across one that was perfectly blending into the bark of a tree with impressive camouflage.

James S. Batuigas, a 45-year-old amateur photographer based in Burnaby, Canada, was driving 5 hours to his favorite wildlife photography area in a British Columbia forest back in May when he encountered the owl.

"I was planning to look for the great grey owl that day," Batuigas tells the UK newspaper Daily Mail. "I was driving on a forest road searching for the great grey owls, scanning every tree hoping to find one during noontime, where they're usually resting.

"Then suddenly in the corner of my eye I noticed something moving in the tree trunk, that's when I realized it was the owl cunningly blended with the bark of the tree."

The color and pattern of the owl's plumage matched the tree it was sitting on so well that the photographer says he would have completely missed seeing the owl there if it hadn't turned its head to look at him.

The great grey owl ( Strix nebulosa ) is the world's largest owl species in terms of length, which can reach 33 inches (84cm). Found across the Northern Hemisphere, the owl can be recognized by the white collar (often called its "bow tie") found under its face.

"The colors of an owl’s feathers help it blend in with the natural environment and, of course, keep it warm," the Owl Research Institute writes. "Feather colors are not the only things that help camouflage owls. They have other tricks to conceal themselves.

"Many stand tall and pull their feathers in tightly, making the owls skinnier and harder to see. When trying to conceal themselves, owls raise the whitish feathers surrounding the bill."

Owls' impressive powers of camouflaging allow it to stay hidden from both prey and eager wildlife photographers.
