Anyone else play Tropico 5? I've spent way too many hours on that, although I love Rimworld more because I get attached to the colonists. There's an updated version and games like Mars that I'd love but for some reason my box doesn't love them.
Been considering upgrading the graphics card but after hearing the Valve guy talking about how Linux uses ram to run graphics I invested in 32 gig of ram instead.
Now the build is almost ten years old and the main board is starting to glitch so all that has to be replaced before the graphics. I guess after the chip, board and ram have been replaced (with Ryzen LoL) I'll look for a 4 gig 3060.
I've been into two EB Games places recently hoping to run into another old gamer to geek out with about this stuff but no luck so far. Although the guy in Sunshine was wearing a pirate hat, so there is that.

TunnelVision, as the researchers have named their attack, largely negates the entire purpose and selling point of VPNs, which is to encapsulate incoming and outgoing Internet traffic in an encrypted tunnel and to cloak the user’s IP address. The researchers believe it affects all VPN applications when they’re connected to a hostile network and that there are no ways to prevent such attacks except when the user's VPN runs on Linux or Android. They also said their attack technique may have been possible since 2002 and may already have been discovered and used in the wild since then.

ALT Mobile — проект, цель которого предоставить на мобильном устройстве полноценный Линукс, точно тот же Альт, что есть и на других устройствах, но с оболочкой и приложениями, поддерживающими мобильный интерфейс. Это не какая-то отдельная операционная система, не клон Android или Линукс на ядре и низкоуровневых компонентах Android, а самый обычный Альт Линукс.

I don't have much luck with social networks, do I? I used to be mcv@nerdica.net, but nerdica seems to be quite thoroughly dead. Database is corrupt, and nothing can be recovered.
So that means I lost all my posts, comments, contacts, followers, and my place in the Fediverse. I'm trying to cobble things together, so if you recognise me, or even if you don't, please reach out and reconnect. I used to be on #Nerdica , #pluspora and I'm even a #googleplusrefugee.
So I'm not #newhere in the Fediverse, but I am new at this server. I run a #shadowrun #rpg #ttrpg campaign, occasionally post about a #boardgame I played, especially #18xx #railroad games, but also many others. I'm a #programmer , and I'm pretty sure I was also connected to a bunch of people in the #opensource #software world. I'm also interested in #tech, #science, and #computers in general.
I'm also occasionally interested in discussions of #politics, especially of the #leftwing #liberal #green and/or #libertariansocialism kind, though I'm not overly dogmatic on any of them. I #bicycle regularly, use #linux, and after all these social media servers I lost, I'm considering running my own #friendica server. I might even be nuts enough to try to write my own #fediverse software, which would probably end up much like Friendica (or #Diapora, or Google+), but not in PHP.
I'm probably forgetting a bunch of stuff, but I hope this post will help me reconstruct and reconnect what I lost.

I haven't tried this. The documentation (https://htmlpreview.github.io/?https://raw.githubusercontent.com/NickvisionApps/Parabolic/main/NickvisionTubeConverter.Shared/Docs/html/C/newDownload.html) hints that it may use yt-dlp. If so, I'd just go with MPV and/or yt-dllp instead. If you install MPV from the .deb file, you'll get yt-dlp along with it. I would advise installing yt-dlp into your ~/bin folder so you can set a crontab task to update it every day (yt-dlp -U). Distro repos don't keep stuff up to date well enough. yt.dlp needs to be up to date in order to continue working.

MPV is a media player that can use yt-dlp to stream YouTube videos without using a web browser at all. mpv --volume=30 --volume-max=200 --player-operation-mode=pseudo-gui -- <YouTube URL>
MPV fails on some YouTube videos that yt-dllp, used alone, can download.

1 мая вышла версия 9.4 дистрибутива RHEL. По утверждениям компании, упор в нём сделан на облегчение работы и управления облачными вычислениями, в т.ч. с вовлечением ИИ, и на автоматизацию различных процессов. По своей задумке, так они пытаются отвечать чаяниям большей части своих клиентов, 88% из которых отметили в последнее время резкий рост сложности своих вычислительных систем и управления ими.
