Sunday in the Park
Central Park NYC 18 Aug 2024

Today the predicted rain and thunderstorms held off until nearly sunset, a gray and eerie light in the park meanwhile.

I revisited my 'power spot' (with the boat house) and saw music at the band shell (quite percussive) . Then I headed to the Bethesda Terrace promenade by the fountain, my goal being to revisit the Italian mosaic tiles, above this man from China, playing the erhu.

Yes, Donald Trump Is a Rapist

On July 24, 2004, Trump’s request for a new trial in the E. Jean Carroll case, after he was found liable for sexual abuse, battery, and defamation, was rejected.

In his desperate attempt to avoid accountability, the twice-impeached and twice-indicted former president may have unintentionally allowed himself to now be formally known as a #rapist

If everything goes well, I plan to spend a few days in New York in autumn. The last time I was there, CBGB was still open ;))
I'm especially curious to see what Jonny & Cindy up to at the Carmine Street Guitar Shop. I've already spent a lot of time with some extraordinary guitar builders. I have to see that.
The only thing is, I don't like saxophones. (only very rarely)

Wasn't expecting this to happen because of global warming

I remember having a discussion with a geologist professor back in Sweden in early 90s when she was saying that the consequences of global warming are not known at the moment and everything we know is based of the models they have created which can be very different than what nature will "chose" as the soil gets hotter and changes things into uncharted territories.

I'm sure she wasn't even expecting such problems caused so early in the process of the global heating we are just starting to see.

But hey, look, Russia is coming for you and Israel needs your support and China wants to take the world. Forget about global warming and climate change. Those are not money making problems for the elites.

Disco at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts?

Actually, for the past several years they've set up a dance floor of some type, both for shows and for audience dance lessons in various genres.
I'm not sure what's on the schedule this season, or if they've resumed the Lincoln Center Out of Doors concerts in Damrosch Park.

I'm still acclimating to being back in the concrete jungle after weeks in the swamps. Catching up on what's on offer.
It does seem odd to me, all the signage for "SUMMER FOR THE CITY". Just for us? Gee, thanks. I guess maybe the obvious was taken?

Change of perspective, from swamps and marshes to urban jungle. Mostly healed from the hiking with heavy equipment, and now having replaced some of the (camera) equipment which finally 'bit the dust' ... scaled down for streets. Inspired by a theme-based group photo event highlighting "street photography through the window", my first walk-about focused on that, and it seems I have MANY windows with reflections and street nearby. First batch "here".

Grateful for any feedback on which (if any) would be suitable for the "windows and street" exhibit.
These are all at or near Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, with its opera house (and Starbucks) windows, and the reflecting pond which features sculptures by Henry Moore and some newer glass-looking pieces. Not sure if they're permanent or part of some show for which they are setting up cameras and lights. In fact, the whole plaza area, with fountain, now looks like a disco, with blue dance floor (mat) and green 'grass' walls, with serious light scaffolding overhead, and signs everywhere declaring this "Summer For the City".

I guess... "SUMMER in the City" was taken??

The 'private market' for certain luxury items is busy.

[Real estate agent Ernie Carswell] currently has a billionaire client in New York who wants a special property in Los Angeles, so Carswell is looking at a mega-mansion owned by a Middle Eastern billionaire who is offering it only to select buyers. He’s also working on a deal in Palm Springs with a celebrity selling a home he didn’t want to be publicly shown to a billionaire buyer who doesn’t want any photos of his new home on the web.
