Nokia. In addition to attracting great bands, this town has a pretty cool central library.
I once had a social media series called "Tribute to Libraries". Basically the idea was to visit every single library in the Helmet (Finnish capital region) system, take some pictures and do a post. May resurrect it at some point.
Related to this, visited the Nokia central library. Open since 2020, the building also has spaces for arts exhibitions, plus meeting rooms and work spaces. Being a modern library, it only has 90K books available, with a lot of space dedicated to various services.

Da ging die Meldung um, dass die ein altes Logitech-Gamepad für die Steuerung verwenden. das finde ich OK, würde ich auch so machen. Das ist wahrscheinlich das stabilste und haltbarste Teil im ganzen Boot. Außer die haben auch noch ein Nokia 6210 verbaut.
Nein. Wichtiger ist für mich ein anderer Aspekt daran.
Man weiß ja bei so Tech Bros und Milliardären nie, ob die uns dreist ins Gesicht lügen, oder ob die ihren eigenen Bullshit selbst glauben. Diese Frage können wir jetzt als beantwortet betrachten. Die glauben ihren eigenen Bullshit.
Einer der Insassen von diesem Selbstbau-U-Boot ist der Firmengründer, so ein Disruptions-Fanboy, der fand, gesetzliche Regulierung und Sicherheitsstandards beträfen ihn nicht, weil einen sowas ja bloß bei der kreativen Erfindungsarbeit aufhält.
Da hätte ich erstmal zynisch angenommen, dass der bloß faselt und dann nicht selbst einsteigt. Aber er ist selbst eingestiegen.
Die glauben wirklich, dass ihr Furze nicht riechen.
[l] Die EU führt gerade Softwarepatente durch die Hintertür ein. Das Patentamt sieht sich als Profit Center und erlässt schon immer Softwarepatente, obwohl die per Gesetz explizit ausgeschlossen sind.
Und so sitzen im Moment hunderte von Firmen auf Softwarepatenten, für die sie eigentlich keine Lizenzgebühren kassieren können, und versuchen die Einklagbarkeit mit Tricks herbeizuführen.
Der aktuelle Trick ist, einen neuen Patentegerichtshof einzurichten, den Unified Patent Court. Dessen Richter können dann einfach Dinge beschließen und andere Gerichte können ihnen nicht mehr die Urteile wegballern.
Ja gut, denkt ihr euch jetzt vielleicht, da arbeiten ja Richter. Die Justiz ist ja unabhängig. Die werden sich schon an Recht und Gesetz halten.
Könnte man meinen. Bis man hört, dass das Gericht gerade "technische Richter" aus dem Pool der Patentanwälte von Nokia und Airbus rekrutiert hat. Die also einen regulären Bezahljob bei einer Firma haben, die auf ungültigen Softwarepatenten sitzt. Unabhängig, my ass!

What I really do like is the capacity of the battery. According to the manufacturer, the battery lasts for about 23 days in standby and 19.4 hours in continuous call... had to charge my old one only once a week!

- the problem is: Mozilla has become completely dependent on funding from Google… and everything that goes with it.
- while this (should) allow to pour a lot of money into “alternative” projects, Google can any time cut the funding, if Mozilla does something, Google does not like (like create alternative products and services).
- so complete loss of independence there
- via a donation system of $1 per year per user… this could have been easily avoided
The software quality will probably get worse and worse & maybe Firefox will disappear completely. Why? Two reasons. Mozilla (the company/foundation behind Firefox) had (now actually they still have) a contract with Google, Mozilla will participate in advertising revenues if Google becomes the default search engine in Firefox.
Probably Google also has/had infiltrated Mozilla to extract as much valuable info as possible to copy it into Chrome browser.
