👉 #CreedenceClearwaterRevival, également appelé Creedence ou #CCR, est un #groupe de #rock #américain formé à El Cerrito, en #Californie. Le groupe était initialement composé du #chanteur, #guitariste et #compositeur principal #JohnFogerty, de son frère, le guitariste rythmique #TomFogerty, du #bassiste #StuCook et du batteur #DougClifford. Ils ont joué ensemble depuis 1959, d'abord sous le nom de #BlueVelvets, puis de Golliwogs, avant d'adopter le nom de Creedence Clearwater Revival en 1967.
Le #style #musical de CCR englobe le #roots #rock, le #swamp rock, le #blues rock, le #Southern rock, le #country rock et la #soul. Contrairement à ce que ses #origines dans la baie de #SanFrancisco laissait penser, le groupe jouait souvent dans un style rock sudiste, avec des paroles sur les #bayous, les poissons-chats, le #Mississippi et d'autres éléments de l'iconographie du sud des #États-Unis. Les #chansons du groupe parlent rarement d'amour, se concentrant plutôt sur des textes #politiques et #sociaux, comme la #guerre du #Vietnam. Le groupe s'est produit au festival de #Woodstock en 1969, dans le nord de l'État de #NewYork, et a été le premier grand groupe signé à s'y produire.
