Wtf is wrong with my T43? This is driving me insane. It had been having weird crashes for a while and I determined the HD was just old and dying so I replaced it, and then tried to install the new OS. (LXLE)

I STILL had weird crashes while I was trying to install LXLE so I ran a memtest it showed a bunch of failures. So I bought new RAM, put it in, and then installed LXLE again. I STILL kept getting weird crashes. And now apparently whatever program starts the LXDE desktop became corrupt because all I get is a wallpaper and a cursor on startup, there's nothing to click or interact with.
So I ran another memtest and it says THE NEW RAM I JUST BOUGHT IS ALSO BAD. How is that possible?

I just don't understand what is going on anymore. I need to get work done, my X60 is dying and now I can't even get the T43 to run after bying new parts for it because I don't understand what is causing these corruptions.

So, I'm pretty sure the motherboard in my X60 is dying. It kept having weird crashes and now I'm afraid to use it at all because I don't want to kill it permanently. My X60 is important to me because it is a Libreboot machine and I don't own any other machines as free as it.

Because of that I went to get my old T43 running but when trying to install LXLE it kept crashing. I did a memetest to find that the RAM is pretty bad shape. Lots of errors.

My desktop is fine, but buried under a bunch of school stuff and annoying to unbury.

I have ordered new RAM for the T43 so that should be here in a couple weeks.

Meanwhile I'm using my partners Windows 10 tablet to take exams and holy mother of god do I hate windows. Lol.

Hopefully after the RAM gets here I will have a usable PC running again. I miss IRC and normal package repos.

-- un petit 12' ou 13' pour la taille d'écran (format feuille A4 au max), serait suffisant, car à transporter et pc d'appoint.

-- clavier AZERTY
-- DD pas d'exigence particulière
-- OS Windows et je suppose, le mieux serait Win 7 ? (pas Win 10 ou 11 en tout cas)
-- il me faudrait un lecteur CD ( Des 12 ou 13 pouces avec lecteur, ça existe ?... dois-je opter pour un lecteur externe par USB ?)
-- pas trop lourd, pour le porter en vélo et sac à dos..
-- 200€ c'est trop... (plutôt 100-150€)

Nutzt hier jemand zufällig ein #thinkpad (in meinem Fall ein #t440p) mit einem ThinkPad Pro Dock (40A1)? Ich kriege es einfach nicht hin, mehr als einen externen Monitor daran zu betreiben. Wenn ich 2 Monitore über DP und DVI anschließe, erkennt der Rechner zwar beide Monitore, aber einer der beiden bekommt partout kein Signal. Mit meinem alten x220 und dessen Dock klappt das ohne Schwierigkeiten. Irgendwie habe ich im Netz aber noch nichts hilfreiches zu dem Problem gefunden. :(

Ich spiele mit dem Gedanken, mir so einen Ultraweiten Monitor zuzulegen. Hat jemand hier Tipps? Einsatzbereich ist vor allem ‘Textarbeit’ → Coding, Paper schreiben, etc. Ab und an ein bisschen rudimentärer Videoschnitt für meine Online-Vorlesungen. Spiele jenseits von Minesweeper spielen keine Rolle. Abendfüllend Filme/Videos gucken ist auch nicht geplant. Dafür habe ich noch einen Fernseher. Bildbearbeitung/Grafik mache ich auch nicht wirklich. Wichtig ist mir, dass ich damit ermüdungsarm über längere Zeiträume arbeiten kann. Ergonomie - sowohl in Sachen Augen als auch Nacken sind mir wichtig. Lange Haltbarkeit wäre natürlich auch super und stromsparend auch nicht verkehrt.

Ich arbeite aktuell vor allem mit #opensuse und #kde #plasma. Ich bin auch an Workflow-Tipps interessiert. Aktuell verwende ich einen 24"-Monitor. Das interne Display meines #Thinkpad #t440p ist deaktiviert. Multi-Monitor-Setups habe ich immer mal wieder versucht, bin aber damit nie wirklich warm geworden.

Also Tipps/Empfehlung sowohl für Monitore, Erfahrungsberichte, Workflow-Tipps, Hinweise worauf man achten soll und auch Meinungsbeiträge bzgl. Monitor-Setups sind gerne gesehen. :)

#Laptop, #Netbook oder irgend so ein #Klappzuding!

Suche schon länger einen #Ersatz für meinen alten #Thinkpad.

Der ist robust und läuft und läuft und läuft, aber er muss auch jeden Tag mit auf's #Rad und ab in die #Schule und dies merkt man ihm an. Er fängt an zu schwächeln: an manchen Stellen ist das #Gehäuse schon ein wenig, wie soll ich es sagen? Transparent? Oder löchrig oder so. Manches habe ich mit netten #Aufklebern kaschiert, aber ich spreche ihm mein vollstes #Vertrauen aus und schicke ihn dann doch, über kurz oder lang, in den #Ruhestand. (In #Fachkreisen nennt man dies Merkeln!

Als Ersatz wäre schon ein gebrauchter Thinkpad nicht das Schlechteste, aber ich habe auch diese Seite gefunden und finde das Angebot interessant:
