Brian Hook, the former representative of the United States on Iran affairs during the first administration of Donald Trump, said in a conversation with #CNN on Thursday, November 17, that if the United States takes deterrent measures against the Islamic Republic, other countries threatened by Tehran will also do so with all their might. They join the United States in adopting these measures.

Hook said: "Donald #Trump, the President of the United States, knows that the main cause of instability in the #MiddleEast today is the Iranian regime. And in my opinion, the #PersianGulf region is the most economically and culturally active in the world today. And this kind of extremism and revolutionary ideology that the Iranian regime is exporting is one of the obstacles to continue this good path."

He added that the goal of Donald Trump's "maximum pressure" policy is diplomatic isolation and economic inability to finance proxy groups. The policy of "maximum support" for change in Iran by the Iranian people will take place inside #Iran.

For the last 18 months or so, Saudi Arabia and Iran have been engaging in a process of rapprochement. The two signed a Beijing-brokered roadmap to de-escalation in early 2023. The Kingdom reopened its embassy in #Tehran in autumn 2023. Since then, a series of symbolic steps, including state visits and the opening of consular services, have taken place. Not that you'd know from reading the prestige press in the UK and US. The #FT, #Bloomberg, the #WSJ, the #WaPo and the #NYT hardly report on this story. So, yesterday, Saudi Arabia and Iran conducted joint naval exercises in the Gulf of Oman. Given the situation in the Middle East, this would seem important. Who's reporting on it? Let's look at #Google News.

The United States and Israel stand on the verge of a direct attack on Iran, with the most far-reaching and catastrophic consequences for the Middle East and the whole world.

Using Iran’s attack on Israeli military infrastructure Tuesday as a pretext, the White House has effectively given Israel carte blanche to carry out an illegal attack against the second most populous country in the region (after Egypt).

“We’ll be discussing with the Israelis what they’re going to do, but all seven of us [referring to the G7 nations] agree that they have a right to respond,” Biden said Wednesday. Reuters commented in a news report, “[T]he US is not pressing Israel to refrain from retaliation.”

The Israel-UAE land corridor depends on naval traffic sailing through the Persian Gulf

Israel has been using this route, which runs from the UAE through Saudi Arabia and Jordan to Israel, as a way to circumvent the Red Sea blockade in its trade with the Asian continent.

If Iran systematically cuts off Israeli-linked shipping originating in Emirati ports, Israel will effectively be shut off from any trade with Asia and would have to import everything through its Mediterranean Sea ports of Haifa & Ashdod.

If Iran or Hezbollah then decides to strike these two ports, Israel will be completely cut off from the global trade network. This would have massive repercussions on its economy, which is heavily dependent on foreign trade.

Video shows the moment when IRGC Navy Helicopter landing on the Israeli-owned ship “MSC ARIES” in the Strait of Hormuz.

The vessel has been redirected into Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.
this is not the retaliation against Israel, but a signal that Israel declaration of war against Iran by destroying it's consulate in Damascus will mean no Israeli ship or israeli-linked ship will be allowed to pass the Strait of Hormoz,

Hebrew Media trying to get the Americans involved by saying: 'The Iranians with this action have sent a clear message to the US; if you intervene on behalf of Israel, we will close the Persian Gulf just like the Red Sea'

Iran is in negotiations with China to purchase a tram/bus system for Tehran worth $12-$13 billion.

It is another push by Reisi's government to cut the pollution in the city and help with the out of control congestion caused by over 12 million cars in the city, most of them over 30 years old.

Iran seem to be increasing it's sale of oil significantly and planning to reach 4M barrels per day in 2025.

There are also reports that Iran is planning to build a second nuclear power plant in Sirik city in Hormozgan province, by the Persian Gulf. The plan is to produce 5GW or energy that is significantly larger than the Bushehr plant that in theory can produce 1GW but hasn't been able to produce more than 30% of max capacity.

Right wing groups going bat shit crazy about their lifelong dream of getting US to engage Iran militarily on all fronts

This is a post from a right wing military centric group:

First map shows the Middle East conflict described by the Pentagon: contained in Gaza—no wider regional war.

The second shows what's played out as Iran + proxies drive a dangerous cycle of escalation, including a large attack today on U.S. forces.

In the past week, since the U.S. & U.K. launched retaliatory strikes against the Houthis in Yemen:
]
- On 11 Jan, U.S., U.K., & Allies conducted large-scale strikes against 60+ Houthi targets at 28 locations—for the first time since the conflict began
- Today: large attack on U.S. forces at an airbase in Iraq by Iranian-backed militants
- Iran attacked 3 countries in 48 hours (Pakistan, Iraq, Syria), hijacked a ship & took hostages, & caught sending ballistic missile components to Yemen
- In a proportional tit-for-tat response to Iran's attack, Pakistan struck multiple targets in Iran
- 140+ attacks now on U.S. forces in Iraq & Syria (confirmed by DOD), U.S. responded with precision strikes 10+ times (& gunship sorties)
- The U.S. followed up with an additional 6 rounds of strikes, targeting key Houthi infrastructure
- Houthis continue to attack commercial shipping & U.S. Navy ships, with at least 35 incidents recorded (more than 5 since the 11th)

Iranian military reports that USS Eisenhower has "quietly" left Persian Gulf for an unknown position.

Iran reported that helicopters and drones were flying over and around the American aircraft carrier at all time despite multiple warnings from the US navy.

US hasn't reported the departure of the aircraft carrier and the other ships from the #PersianGulf yet.

Iran Military Aerospace Command: We detected F-35s operating in the Persian Gulf

The Farsi report on IRGC telegram channels say that a group of US air force F-35s dying into an American base in UAE were occasionally visible on the domestically produced radar system.

There are no ways to verify this but if it's true, it means that the roumers about the faults in stealth functionalities of American most expensive fighter jet might be true.

US military may put armed troops on commercial ships in Strait of Hormuz to stop Iran seizures

— " The US military is considering putting armed personnel on commercial ships traveling through the Strait of #Hormuz, in what would be an unheard of action aimed at stopping Iran from seizing and harassing civilian vessels, four American officials told The Associated Press on Thursday.

America didn’t even take the step during the so-called “Tanker War,” which culminated with the US Navy and Iran fighting a one-day naval battle in 1988 that was the Navy’s largest since World War II.

While officials offered few details of the plan, it comes as thousands of Marines and sailors on both the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan and the USS Carter Hall, a landing ship, are on their way to the Persian Gulf. Those Marines and sailors could provide the backbone for any armed guard mission in the strait, through which 20 percent of all the world’s crude oil passes."
