"On July 17th, Abortion Access Front is hosting an Operation Save Abortion virtual training. An “onboarding into the movement” as Carwile called it, is a “supercharged all-day training experience that will be live-streamed” to each and every person who registers. Starting at 11 am, the trainings will be an educational house party of sorts, teaching attendees how to protect abortion rights through volunteering, talking to politicians, and connecting people to resources. “We want to have this day-long training as sort of an orientation to the movement. So people can use that as a time to figure out where they specifically can fit in, instead of trial and error…” Carwile said.

The training is for anyone who wants to get involved, and it’s free. There will be activities to do with friends, events to add to your calendar, and lots of information on how to best get involved. But that’s just the beginning. The main objective of the July 17th training is to educate people around the country and send them where their skills are most valuable. Anyone can get involved, as long as they have a computer and an internet connection. “After July 17, people have access to a whole sort of activism calendar of the ways they can plug in virtually or in-person in their community, and that’s where they kick off their work.” Through the Operation Save Abortion training, attendees will get access to a calendar of upcoming trainings, upcoming events, and a list of the exact groups that most need volunteers. Ultimately, the movement is most effective when everyone knows exactly what to do and the Operation Save Abortion Training allows for people to have direction and be more effective.

As the Supreme Court prepares to reverse Roe v. Wade under a Democratic president, house, and senate, it is clear that action at the ballot box is insufficient to protect #abortion. #Reproductiverights were not won by electoral means, and that is not how we will defend them.
Anarcha-feminist traditions of grassroots struggle and autonomous abortion infrastructure offer alternative strategies. As the anarcha-feminist Liz Highleyman put it in 1992, “the day when abortion is again made illegal may come sooner than we like to think. We must be ready to take our bodies and our lives into our own hands.”
Anarcha-feminists were on the front lines of the struggle for abortion throughout the 1980s and ‘90s. They were convinced that Roe v. Wade would not last forever and that they could not depend on the #state and the legal system to protect reproductive #freedom. Anarcha-feminists took a three-pronged approach to abortion struggle: defense of abortion clinics, construction of grassroots reproductive #health infrastructure, and an anti-state approach to building feminist dual power.

A Salvadoran woman is jailed for 30 years following a miscarriage! Fast forward now to the USA, the state of Texas and Oklahoma.

This is not concern about life. This is punitive violence and hatred against women for one purpose. Power, control, and manipulation.
It is what Whitney Strieber calls evil, that is, *denial of the right to thrive. * If you can criminalize a women's body and make it a state function, you have successfully created state sanctioned slavery in this, the 21st century.

The authoritarians think they have the God Given right to enslave and criminalize women by claiming that even a miscarriage of an un-ensouled and unborn fetus is murder, no matter what the reason. This defies common sense and every form of compassion. Meanwhile there is no problem enabling 18 year olds to get assault weapons so they can murder the already born in schools and shopping malls. Talk about mentally ill.

When we think about Dirty Dancing, we often picture the bottom image. We forget that the whole reason Baby has to fill in for Penny is because Robby gets Penny pregnant and refuses to take responsibility.
We forget that the abortion is so expensive Penny cannot afford it, even from a questionable practitioner, and when Robby refuses to pay for it, Baby has to get the money for her.
We forget that Penny nearly dies because abortions are illegal. We forget the horrible conditions she is forced to endure in order to get the abortion and the incredible pain she was in afterwards.
We forget her tears.
We forget her shame.
We forget the judgment and condemnation towards her.
We forget Robby’s endorsement for college and smug attitude as his life remained unchanged.
While this is a movie, there have been real life Pennys. We must not return to the time where this is the norm.
Abortions have never been an issue for the wealthy. Money affords opportunity and secrecy.
The United States has the highest maternal mortality rate amongst industrialized countries. Banning abortions is not going to help that number.

New Fugitive Slave Act for Women

FTA ... "Lawmakers in Missouri weighed legislation early this year that would allow individuals to sue anyone helping a patient cross state lines for an abortion. The law was ultimately blocked in the state’s legislature, but experts expect such legislation to gain more support if Roe is weakened or overturned.” True. According to NPR, “Idaho prepares to ban most abortions in the state as governor signs Texas-style law”.

I think we should begin calling this what it is, a version of the Fugitive Slave Act, but for women. Most of the laws even gives cash incentives for private citizens to, “Hunt”, those trying to escape the oppression in their home states.

Here's an idea: Once Row v. Wade is overturned, most of the thinking people will flee from the states that model themselves after Russia. We must welcome those people, along with all the others who request asylum in the remaining sane states. We must assist them in their flight. A 21st Century Underground Railroad.

Then, once enough of the people capable of thinking have fled their Republican dictators, we should simply invade those states, imprisoning their leaders (as one does in war). If we can't civilize the rest of the people, then we can find something else for them to do. For those who persist in opposing a woman's right to choose, sterilization remains an option. Everyone's happy.

I'm not pro-murdering babies.
I'm pro-Becky who found out at her 20 week anatomy scan that the infant she had been so excited to bring into this world had developed without life sustaining organs.
I'm pro-Susan who was sexually assaulted on her way home from work, only to come to the horrific realization that her assailant planted his seed in her when she got a positive pregnancy test result a month later.
I'm pro-Theresa who hemorrhaged due to a placental abruption, causing her parents, spouse, and children to have to make the impossible decision on whether to save her or her unborn child.
I'm pro-little Cathy who had her innocence ripped away from her by someone she should have been able to trust and her 11 year old body isn't mature enough to bear the consequence of that betrayal.
I'm pro-Melissa who's working two jobs just to make ends meet and has to choose between bringing another child into poverty or feeding the children she already has because her spouse walked out on her.
I'm pro-Brittany who realizes that she is in no way financially, emotionally, or physically able to raise a child.
I'm pro-Emily who went through IVF, ending up with SIX viable implanted eggs requiring selective reduction in order to ensure the safety of her and a SAFE amount of fetuses.
I'm pro-Christina who doesn't want to be a mother, but birth control methods sometimes fail.
I'm pro-Jessica who is FINALLY getting the strength to get away from her physically abusive spouse only to find out that she is carrying the monster's child.
I'm pro-Vanessa who went into her confirmation appointment after YEARS of trying to conceive only to hear silence where there should be a heartbeat.
I'm pro-Lindsay who lost her virginity in her sophomore year with a broken condom and now has to choose whether to be a teenage mom or just a teenager.
I'm pro-Courtney who just found out she's already 13 weeks along, but the egg never made it out of her fallopian tube so either she terminates the pregnancy or risks dying from internal bleeding.
You can argue and say that I'm pro-choice all you want, but the truth is:
I'm pro-life.
Their lives.
Women's lives.
You don't get to pick and choose which scenarios should be accepted.
Women's rights are meant to protect ALL women, regardless of their situation!

The right-wing majority’s radical repurposing of the so-called shadow docket to set precedents and nullify constitutional rights rather than simply deal with time-sensitive matters foreshadowed this outcome. In the Court’s religious-freedom decisions related to the coronavirus pandemic, and in its choice last year to allow Texas to nullify the right to an abortion, you can see the outlines of this new legal regime: On the grounds that it constitutes a form of religious discrimination, conservatives will be able to claim an exemption from any generally applicable rule they do not wish to follow, while imposing their own religious and ideological views on those who do not share them. Although the right-wing justices present this rule in the language of constitutionalism, they are simply imposing their ideological and cultural preferences on the rest of the country. Roe itself left those opposed to abortion free not to have one; striking it down allows states to prevent those seeking abortions from obtaining them.

Majority of the court privately voted to strike down the landmark abortion rights decision, according to the document, obtained by Politico.

The Supreme Court privately voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade case that has guaranteed the right to abortion for nearly a half-century, according to a leaked draft opinion from February published online Monday night by Politico.

In the draft opinion, written by Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., a majority of the court voted to overturn Roe, according to Politico. Justice Alito called it wrongly decided and said the contentious issue, which has animated political debates in the United States for more than a generation, should be decided by politicians, not the courts.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Justice Alito writes in the document, labeled the “Opinion of the Court,” according to Politico. “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

The release of the 98-page document is unprecedented in modern times. In the court’s modern history, early drafts of opinions have never leaked before the final decision is announced. And early drafts of opinions often change by the time the decision from the court is announced. ...
