Charges Dropped Against Deaf Black Man Who Was Brutalized by Arizona Police

In Arizona, charges have been dropped against a deaf Black man with
cerebral palsy who was beaten and tasered by police officers in August
after being falsely accused of stealing a cellphone. Newly released
video of Tyron Mc Alpin's arrest showed officers violently confronting
the deaf man, who was unable to hear the officers' commands. Mc Alpin
was then jailed for 24 days because he could not afford bail.

Où l'auteur, #jamessallis prend à contre-courant l'idée d'un thriller. On est, je pense, happé par les circonvolutions techniques et donc dans la matérialité des corps en action, ici, un tueur se faisant doubler pour l'assasinat d'une cible. Si l'on aime la plume de James Sallis, ses subtiles et pointues, comment dirais-je ? Il a des entrées prononcées qui concernent la fuite du temps, la mort, la nostalgie et le tout imbibé d'une prose poétique et humaine qui rend ses récits, à mon sens, proches de ceux de Jim Harrison, tout en étant fondamentalement sur une autre ligne du temps. Les connections de Jimmie au monde réel, rendues possibles presque uniquement par les machines sont de petits éclats d'espoir dans une situation ou une seule personne verra l'isolement et la profonde solitude de Jimmie; à quoi se raccrocher quand on a presque plus de lien avec l'humanité des rencontres humaines ? En parallèle, au dessus, en dessous, on ne sait plus vraiment ou l'on est, dans un désert de l'Arizona ? On pourrait dire que James Sallis nous jette des éclats de lumière dans les yeux qui semble dire au regard des nuages du monde ou certains sont au paradis et d'autres en enfer : que faites-vous dans ce monde si grand ? A Democratic state senator needs an #abortion. She told her colleagues about #Arizona’s ‘cruel’ #laws.

The only reason I had to hear those things was a cruel and uninformed attempt by outside forces to shame and coerce and frighten me into making a different decision other than the one I knew was right for me. There’s no one-size-fits-all script for people seeking abortion care, and the #legislature doesn’t have any right to assign one.
