Two prominent scientists are refusing to allow their work to be included in the Science Museum’s collection because of the institution’s links to Shell.

Steve and Dee Allen, who have carried out some of the most important research into global plastic pollution, say the museum’s sponsorship deal with the fossil fuel company – and a subsequent “gagging clause” – meant it was no longer a credible scientific institution.

“They have positioned themselves to fail in both of their primary tasks – to preserve and present the truth as best we know it,” said Steve Allen.

The decision by eminent scientists to boycott the museum is the latest blow to the institution, which has had several resignations and faced growing protests over its relationship with Shell – and a newly announced deal with the “green” arm of the global fossil fuel corporation Adani.

You realize #climateaction in #Finland is far away when the #science minister retweets a tweet from a far right party member slamming #ExtinctionRebellion for ... someone eating a pepperoni pizza in a road block action.

Seriously, do we not even require reading skills from science ministers these days? It's pretty clear if you even visit the Extinction Rebellion site that XR doesn't blame individuals but demands the whole toxic system to be changed. Climate change can't be fought by individual action, it needs governments to get involved!

Yet our science minister Antti Kurvinen (@kurvisentwiit) is rather retweeting a known far right member who doesn't even believe climate change is a thing, rather than creating policies that would help combat climate change.

The world, expect no help from Finland in the fight against climate change, even though we're a part of the wealthiest nations in the world very much responsible for it.
