We've updated our TROM Videos too. Now Peertube has more cool features like the storyboard - you can hover with your mouse over the seekbar of a video and see thumbnails. Pretty nice!

We are currently generating the thumbnails for all of our videos (may take a while to finish), but any new video uploaded from now one will have this feature.

You can also add chapters to your videos and more. Awesome job @PeerTube !

Ukrainian journalist Mstyslav Chernov's documentary "20 Days in Mariupol" has been nominated for the 2024 Oscars in the Best Documentary Feature Film category, the U.S. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Jan. 23.

The documentary records the Russian siege of #Mariupol in #Donetsk Oblast from the perspective of #Chernov and his crew during the first weeks of the full-scale invasion. "20 Days in Mariupol" has become the first Ukrainian film made by a Ukrainian director to receive an Oscar nomination since the country gained independence in 1991.

Andreas Sofaer - what means "sofaer" ?

it's always annoying how self centered #Germans are about their life... impossible to read a printed paper any more in this country - if I want to know what is going on in the world I read papers online in foreign languages
(but not so many can do it ...)
it has improved - but some 20 years ago you could enter a castle, some touristic site without any panels also in English explaining the things... and in many cases still not available
the same for documentaries... quite a good #documentary of #Jewish people hiding away in Berlin during the #3rd-Reich...(about 7000 people managed to do it - but only 1500 survived)
AND no English subtitles (!!) ....what is so difficult about that ??
quite creepy ... what would I do today ? ...

#CurrentlyWatching “The 50 Year Argument”, a hard-to-find 2014 #MartinScorcese / #DavidTedeschi documentary covering a half-century of the #NewYorkReviewOfBooks. TBH It's not up to Scorcese's usual standards and often blurs the line between insightful intellectualism and mundane elitism. Or maybe that's the point, eh? The film was directed by Ukrainian photographer, photojournalist, and filmmaker Mstyslav Chernov, who was working for the Associated Press as Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The documentary records the Russian siege of Mariupol in Donetsk Oblast from the perspective of Chernov and his crew during the first weeks of the full-scale invasion. The film comprises 30 hours of footage they shot in Mariupol amid the siege.
