Aah, good old student days

Back when it was t'was a good, pro-social habit to have a pint or two with the professors and lecturers on Friday early afternoon in the Graffton Arms pub, off Oxford Rd.

You'd interrupt your library time in exchange for chat, smalltalk, crisps or even a light pub meal, and sound advice from old farts towering figures in the field, right at the kempt heart of the Manchester School of Ethnomethodology.

And productive at that, back at the library the next paragraphs practically wrote themselves. Oh dear, of course they did. 🍺😄

Thank you Wes, Dave, Dave, Rod, Dave and Liz et al for repeatedly expanding my horizon and, more than two decades later, for allowing me this #throwbackthursday mood.

Heute kurz nach dem Start von #Düsseldorf nach #Manchester. Eine angenehme Reise, alles reibungslos, auch weil ich genügend Puffer für Wartezeiten am Flughafen #DUS eingeplant hatte, von Ankunft im Taxi bis ans Gate habe ich ca. 1 ½ Stunden gebraucht.
Als erstes 35 Minuten am Checkin gewartet, dann 30 Minuten an der #Sicherheitskontrolle und zuletzt nochmal an der Passkontrolle.

Wenn ihr in den Ferien von Düsseldorf fliegt plant so 3 Stunden ein.

The #Manchester #airport is really crappy in so many ways, the seating areas are noisy and have only a few power outlets. The security takes a long time and is really not up-to-date safety wise. The information screens are not really helpful and not in the locations you'd need them, as is the website, or they do a good job in hiding which terminal/gate a flight is leaving from. I can go on if needed.

Manchester Mayor calls for jail time for those that spread “offensive lies and conspiracies”

The Mayor of the English city of Manchester, Andy Burnham, has called for a new law to prosecute those who spread “offensive lies and conspiracies.”

Mayor Burnam’s comments followed a man being sued for claiming that the Manchester Arena attack in 2017 was a hoax.

That Man is Richard D. Hall.

Come on #Brits, we need to take back our country from the corrupt & wicked élite and make #Britain #GreatBritain again!
