@Kathryn Barr and I did a 30 km bike ride today to try out the very western end of the Prescott Russell Pathway, which used to be a #railway. We went to Mile Zero and found the old tracks still there.

The shots are all from the 4 km segment of the old #train track we biked on. I won't describe Kathryn's route to get to the start and home again...

This is an official video from #OCTranspo, our transit organization, and is an update on how the light #rail #railway construction is coming along. It is almost all just #drone video and nice music, no narration at all, which I think is good, as the photos speak for themselves. This line serves our end of #Ottawa, the south part and is supposed to be open in September, only 13 months behind schedule.

Wasserturm unter Renovierung im Abendlicht

Emådalens vattentorn är ett av de få vid Inlandsbanan som man har på bekvämt "spaningsavstånd" när man reser längs vägarna. Det ligger precis där banan korsar E45:an och är väl synligt när man närmar sig.

Byggnaden är av sammma utformning som vattentornen vid Tandsjöborg och Kropptjärn som ligger längre norrut på linjen.

Pumpen drivs, liksom på flera andra platser, av en varmluftsmaskin (Stirling) som är intakt i originalskick men den har stått i "malpåse" sedan 1940-talet. En liknande maskin som lär komma från Storstupets vattentorn som är rivet står vid Orsa järnvägsstation.

Orsa Järnvägsförening (OJF) har fått ett bidrag från Riksantikvarieämbetet för att rusta upp tornet och maskineriet. Under sommaren 2022 kunde man starta upp pumpen igen och tillfället blev dokumenterat med några videos. Länkar finns nedan.

Iran and Iraq just signed an agreement to build a railroad between Shalamche and Basra, for the price of 215 billion Iraqi dinar!

During the 8 years of Iraq-Iran war, 10s of thousands of Iranians died on the island when trying to "liberate" Basra. The island has been closed to public because it is filled with landmines left over since the end of 1980-88 war.

The contact is for an Iranian company to build a bridge as well as railroads connecting the island to the port city of Basra and then connect it to the Iranian railroad in Khorramshahr.
