In 'Miss Merkel,' Germany's former chancellor is a crime-solving amateur detective

https://text.npr.org/g-s1-19962

As the title suggests, Miss Merkel is a whodunnit that imagines the former chancellor as an Agatha Christie-style detective who starts solving crimes out of sheer boredom. For want of a G7 or European Union summit, Merkel is desperate to put down the garden shears and get back to solving something, anything! This time, it’s a village murder. Move over, Miss Marple!

Just finished watching all of Deadwood show and movie for the first time. The TV show was pretty solid throughout. The movie, however, wasn't bad but wasn't great. If I were to rank it as an episode I'd say it would be in the bottom half of episodes. #deadwood #tv

Working graveyard shift, it's either that or soaps.

Soap operas suck.

Emmy-winning daytime talk-show host Phil Donahue has died after a long battle with an illness. He was 88. If you were at home during the day in the 1980s, it was hard not to get sucked into an episode of “Donahue,” watch for a bit, and maybe become a devoted viewer. The show gained popularity while touching on social issues that could be difficult for some to address, such as child abuse, feminism, and race relations. His success also paved the way for an array of other talk shows. Few knew this better than Oprah Winfrey. “There wouldn’t have been an 'Oprah Show' without Phil Donahue being the first to prove that daytime talk and women watching should be taken seriously,” Winfrey posted on Instagram. #1997 #TV #movie - #Cloned. A Second Chance Is A Deadly Option

Presented for educational purposes only.
Story line:
In the year 2008, a married couple is distraught over losing their 8 year old son in a boating accident. However, when the mother suddenly sees another child who looks identical to her dead child, the Mother investigates the fertility clinic who aided her with her pregnancy and discovers that they cloned her child in an experiment dubbed "Baby 2000". She also discovers that they still have the genes to develop another child for them and faces the question of whether the couple wants another identical child.

So can we clone people or not? I believe we can and have been doing so for many years. But for what purpose? (The way this is done is supposedly revealed in the movie "Boys From Brazil"). I also don't think we should be messing around with the work of our creator. Just because we can do something does not mean we should. I wonder what they can do now in 2024 that they could not do in 1997?

Keep in mind Dolly the sheep was cloned in 1996 and was introduced to the world. Then they came out with this highly publicized in your face movie in 1997. Was this predictive programming? Since it came from Hollywood I would say yes.
