Moldova's Foreign Minister: Russia attempting to overthrow democratic government in Chișinău

"The Russians are learning and adapting, and they’re trying to use the democratic process against us … to topple the democratic government in Moldova," noted Popșoi.

He said that Chișinău knows that the Kremlin plans to invest "a lot of energy and financial resources" into their efforts to achieve their goals, including through the bribery of Moldovan citizens, via their proxies.

Russia would continue its hybrid warfare in 2024 on the eve of the presidential elections and the referendum on the country's accession to the European Union.

The image released by the Server Killers features a central figure cloaked and masked, symbolizing these groups’ anonymity and secretive nature.

The figure is tearing apart a coat of arms, which appears to represent Moldova, indicating the target of their joint operation.

Below the image, a message confirms the alliance and expresses confidence in their success, stating, “We believe in our victory!!!” This bold declaration is accompanied by a series of logos representing each allied hacker group, further emphasizing the united front presented by these cyber adversaries.

Implications for Cybersecurity

The formation of this alliance poses a significant threat to Moldova and the international community, as it demonstrates the potential for collaboration among groups that can amplify the scale and impact of cyber attacks.

These groups’ collective expertise and resources could lead to sophisticated and potentially devastating cyber operations.

The announcement is a stark reminder of the evolving landscape of cyber warfare, in which national boundaries are blurred, and the battleground is the global network infrastructure.

Governments, corporations, and individuals must remain vigilant and invest in robust cybersecurity measures to protect against such coordinated threats.

As the situation develops, cybersecurity experts and law enforcement agencies must closely monitor these groups’ activities.

Sharing information and strengthening international cooperation will be vital to mitigating the risks posed by this and similar alliances.

The alliance of these hacker groups under the Server Killers banner is a testament to the evolving challenges that nations and organizations face in protecting their digital infrastructures.

I was just scrolling yesterday through my stared posts in looking for something and I found this - which just seems way too relevant today in light of the #TuckerCarlson interview with #Putin.

Always remember what #peace means for #Russia whenever that #Kremlin idiot says it wants #negotiations. Always remember what #concessions by #Ukraine in exchange for #peace actually means for #TerroRussia. The only #peace which is acceptable for #Putler is the one where Ukraine gives up all its territory. Then #Moscow can start its #ethniccleaning and the erasure of #Ukrainian identity, just like it did with all the people in its empire. And when that happens, other countries are endangered of following suite - #Moldova, #Georgia, #TheBaltics, even #Poland and #Romania.

At this point, you could comfortably say that Russia is the last classical style #colonialempire of Europe. The only way to #EndTheWarInUkraine is to #defeatrussia.

Russian proxy leader in occupied Moldovan territory calls for military preparedness

#Transnistria is a breakaway region internationally recognized as part of Moldova. Russian troops have occupied Transnistria since the early 1990s when Russia invaded the region under the pretext of protecting ethnic Russians.

There have been heightened tensions between #Moldova and Transnistria since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine when there were fears that armed conflict could erupt in Moldova.

Picture of 2 Ukrainian men captured by the border guards when they tried to flee the country to Moldova.

Ukraine have stepped up their mobilization of all military aged men across the country and many Ukrainians trying to flee the country instead of ending up as canon fooder in the war with Russia.

As a person who was in the same situation, I can relate to their sentiment and I'm lucky I was able to leave Iran for Dubai instead of ending up dead like 100s of thousands of Iranian soldiers back then.

The Washington Post highlights that many men continue to flee #Ukraine to avoid being mobilized.

In fact, several have died from frostbite trying to cross the border to the west on their own and about 25 drowned while crossing the Tysa River that separates Ukraine from #Moldova and #Romania.

In this sense, due to the need to recruit new combatants, "new ways of mobilizing the population and stronger measures against those who evade compulsory military service" are being carried out.

It is at the large border crossings where most Ukrainians have attempted to flee their country, some dressed as women or members of the clergy.

The MPs of the Shor Party will not lose their positions in the Moldovan Parliament and will continue as unaffiliated MPs, per the ruling of the Moldovan Constitutional Court.

Leaked document exposes Kremlin's 10-year plan to undermine Moldova

A Western intelligence source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Kremlin's Directorate for Cross-Border Cooperation had allegedly created the document, titled "Strategic goals of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova," in 2021.

According to the document, Russia’s key goals are to ensure that Moldovan policymakers and society, in general, have a negative attitude toward NATO and that the country has a strong presence of pro-Russian influence groups in politics and the economy.

The Kremlin appears to be setting conditions for false flag operations on the Chernihiv Oblast international border and in Moldova ahead of the one-year anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Ukrainian Northern Operational Command reported on February 23 that Russian forces are preparing possible false flag operations in the international border areas of Chernihiv Oblast. The Ukrainian Northern Operational Command stated that Ukrainian intelligence has already observed Russian convoys with unmarked military equipment and personnel dressed in uniforms resembling those worn by the Ukrainian military move to areas near the Chernihiv Oblast border. The Ukrainian Northern Operational Command stated that the purpose of these false flag operations would be to accuse Ukrainian forces of violating the territorial integrity of an unspecified country, very likely referring to Belarus. The Kremlin may be preparing false flag attacks to coerce Belarus into the war following Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's February 16 statement that Belarus would only enter the war if attacked by Ukraine. The Belarusian Ministry of Defense also notably claimed on February 21 that Belarusian forces observed a buildup of Ukrainian forces at its borders. ISW continues to assess that Belarusian or Russian attack on northern Ukrainian regions is highly unlikely, but Russia seeks to force Lukashenko’s hand or blame Ukraine for expanding the war to undermine support for Kyiv. Such a false flag operation could also aim to fix Ukrainian forces at the northern border in an effort to weaken Ukrainian defenses in eastern Ukraine and preparations for counter-offensive operations.

The Kremlin also appears to be setting information conditions to stage a false flag operation in occupied Transnistria, Moldova. The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) claimed on February 23 that Ukrainian forces are planning to conduct an armed provocation against Transnistria in the near future. The MoD claimed that Ukrainian forces would dress as Russian military personnel and stage an alleged Russian offensive from positions in Transnistria. The Moldovan government denied the Russian MoD’s allegations. The MoD likely sought to foster this false narrative to twist Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky‘s warning to Moldovan President Maia Sandu that the Kremlin was preparing provocations in Moldova and his offer to help Moldova if Russian forces in Transnistria threaten the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The MoD’s dissemination of this false narrative does not indicate that Putin intends to attack Moldova—an undertaking for which he lacks military capability—although it points toward an escalation in his ongoing efforts to undermine the Moldovan state.

"Is #Russia diplomatically being setup to unknowingly attack an #EU Member in order to get Nato involved? Yes, Nato…

Quote On 10 January 2023, the EU and NATO signed a joint declaration in Brussels.

The declaration also sets out a shared vision of how the EU and NATO will act together against common security threats. The EU and NATO will expand and deepen their cooperation on areas such as:

the growing geostrategic competition
resilience and the protection of critical infrastructure
emerging and disruptive technologies
space
the security implications of climate change
foreign information manipulation and interference
To be brief, I do not believe for a second that the events happening in Moldova in the past “Month” are a coincidence and do not have a larger purpose.
One could argue that despite the fact that Russia is physically not near any part of #Moldova (yet), it does violate the last “bullet” point namely, foreign information manipulation and interference, interference by having pro-Russian troops occupying Transnistria, now under the new Moldovan Law… illegal.

By fast tracking Moldova into the EU (they can just do that right away now) the EU could activate the EU-Nato Cooperation act and bypass the entire plan they had for Ukraine (becoming a Nato member etc) and go at Russia “legally”. Like these types always do, provoking, sneaking around and when someone reacts to it, well… play the victim, in this case to get Civilians on-board without too much effort." #quote from #pa
