"- #Muñoa’s #Pampas cat, a small wild feline, is endemic to the Pampas grasslands that sprawl over southern Brazil, #Uruguay and northeastern #Argentina.

"- With fewer than 100 individuals left in the wild, experts call Muñoa’s pampas cat one of the most endangered felines in the world and warn it go extinct within 10 years as its natural habitat is cleared for #cropland.

- #Conservation plans to save the species include switching from #monocultures to extensive ranching that preserves the natural #grasslands, creating a #captivebreeding program, and developing a trinational conservation agreement.

"- Recent #floods in the Brazilian state of #RioGrandeDoSul, where many Muñoa’s Pampas cat sightings have been recorded, have currently halted all local #conservation efforts, putting the future of this feline at risk."

#Persian #Leopard. The biggest subspecies of Leopard in the world that can be found in Southern #Russia to Northern #Iran and #Afghanistan. As well as #Armenia and #Turkmenistan.

They used to occupy the whole of Turkey, as well as Middle Eastern Nations, like the whole of Syria and Irak.

Today he is in the situation of #Endangered due to poaching, habitat and prey loss, as well as animal trafficing.

This large #feline hunts boars, deers, brids and other small animals and competes with wolves, lynxes and bears. They used to compete with the extinct Caspian Tiger and the Asiatic Lion for prey in their former distribution range.

Today, this Leopard is on a slow recovery. But only time will tell about his fate.

Monarch population overwintering in Mexico declined by 59%

Every winter, when monarchs are huddled together in Mexico to ride out the winter, a density assessment is made in an attempt to determine a head count of the Monarchs roosting there. The trend has been downward with just a couple of years showing a moderate increase, and the trajectory of decline has been steep.

Nonetheless, this one guy from the U. of Georgia waves around his doctorate degree in front of the USDA to proclaim that Monarchs aren't endangered. Mainstream press still takes this pinhead seriously, too. As if Monarchs haven't suffered enough from habitat loss, this particular un-named pinhead is on the war path to eradicate a particular milkweed because, he claims, it isn't native even though it has been in the Americas longer than Europeans have.

While home-rearing Monarchs won't put the brakes on such a steep decline, home rearing makes a difference between dying by predator and parasite early or living another day to lay more eggs. If you decide to make that kind of difference to your local Monarchs, don't let any Georgian pinhead or his army stop you.

An endangered species that only lives in the mountains between Iran, #Azerbaijan and eastern @Iraq.

There are less than a 1000 of them alive in the wild and they are target of poachera and hunters who sell their horns and hoofs to highest bidders.

Their beauty is unique and their amazing lifestyle in the harsh and hard to reach mountains of #Zagross where they live is just too sad for the world to lose.

The last po’ouli died in an unusual nest. Too weak to perch, the brownish-greyish songbird rested in a small towel twisted into a ring. He was the last of his species, the last in fact of an entire group of finches, and occurred nowhere on Earth outside its native Hawaii. For weeks, as scientists tried to find him a mate, he had been getting sicker. The only remaining po’ouli had just one eye. Alone in the towel, alone in all the world, he closed it.
