So I finally got the raised bed planter filled with soil mix.
Went to my favorite local garden center and picked up some veggie plants.
I missed my usual pea planting date by a month, but they had some pre started sugar snap plants, so I picked up a couple.
Also got my lettuce mix, banana peppers, and a couple bush cherry tomato plants. One I had success with last year has clusters of small grape sized that kept going until first frost.
I also got a couple shishito peppers. I hope I have the same success with them this year. The last time I got almost 20kg of peppers from three plants.

They had a big selection of plants and I picked up a couple Geraniums for the front step. Jennifer liked to have plants on the steps.
I can't believe how sad I got planting them. They will be beautiful and well tended.

Walked around our local park and found a pile of gardening clean up and collected a lot of spider web runners from the pile.

They did a spring clean up yesterday but didn't remove the "rubbish", lucky me, I found a lot of cuttings to add to replant at home.

I am planning to restart the hydroponic tower I used to have back in Paris with 36 of those on a 1.5m PVC pipe.

I have cut back my purchase of bananas because they are not local and most brands are from questionable companies.

Went to our local shop and found a huge pack of "old bananas" at discount price. So I purchased them.

This gave me the opportunity to create banana juice for my plants. Cut the peels into small pieces, added water and let it sit for w days.

Going to use the water as #potassium boost for my plants and crush the peels in a high speed mixer with coffee grounds, egg shells and a small amount of baking soda to adjust the pH level to create my speed #compost mix.

It will go into the bottom of the container I'm preparing for a friend with cherry tomatoes. Hopefully she will be able to grow them as tall as I managed (3M+) and get a lot of #tomatoes from it.

Today I spent most of the afternoon working on my raised bed planter. The original cedar boards had decomposed and were very much like cardboard.
So I went to the local home improvement store and bought some boards to supplement what I had on hand.
I was able to reuse the stainless steel bolts and nuts, which was nice. 32 bolts. I did have to replace the washers, which were not stainless.
Measured at least twice and cut once. I only had to fuss with one piece, a support on the underside. I assumed it was a 2x4 and was happy to have found a cedar 2x4 to replace the regular pine one.
Made all the cuts, it had slots to lock into the steel frame. Didn't fit. The original board was 2x.3.5 mine was 2x3.75, Got out the plane and shaved off some thickness. Haven't done that for a while, almost fun.
After I got all the sides and bottom cut I was ready to drill holes and begin bolting. The washer and nu had countersinking in the original, so I did that. I had to hand adjust 32 bolt holes to fit the washer in the countersink hole. Got really good at it the last 16.
All I need to do now is staple some heavy landscaping cloth on the inside and fill it with my compost/composted manure/ top soil mix.
Then I can plant. I'm off to a bit of a late start because I have to pace myself, and there were several rainy cold weekends in the last month.
Hopefully this lasts another 12 years.

Just read a post on Facebook and a guy was so excited to have bought a Tiny Tim tomato plant half the size of the one in the picture for $29.

I usually grow between 20-40 of them each season. giving away a lot of them, maybe I should start selling them :)

It is amazing that I bought my first one in a discount section of a shop for 15 euro, it was the most expensive plant I have ever bought and I fell in love with it and been growing 100s of them since then.

Spent a lot of time in the balcony today. Cleaned up and got rid of some half dead plants, detaches and replanted strawberries from last year and added new compost into the pots.

I had 3 large strawberry plants growing from last year and I could see they were struggling.

Took them out and dividend then into 29 small strawberry plants and put them into 3 different planters with a lot of compost from the big bag I started last summer.

Another failed experiment. Cocktail tomatoe plant on the balcony, the Kratky system didn't work at all and mix of heavy rain and lack of attention got it killed.

Cleaning up the balcony to have one side for sitting and other side for gardening as my wife is coming back in a few months and demanded to have her half of the balcony "livable" bor like a jungle as it is today.

Probably have to give up my second 220L water container as well because there was a no way I can have 2 of them fitting in one side of the balcony.

This is what happens when you grow #mint ina hydroponic system.

Just like in soil, mint have a strong way of spreading and taking over what ever place is available.

This used to hold a #parsley seedling, next to the mint unit on the 3x5 hole #IKEA #Växer unit.

The parsley was killed long time ago and it's roots were chocked and taken over by the neighboring mint.

I'm cleaning up the unit indoor and getting rid of all the unhealthy units. This , I pulled to find over 40cm of roots growing towards the rest of the system.

I removed this unit and trimmed all the unnecessary roots. And I probably have to do major cleanup of the reservoir.

But for now, this guy needs a new home.
