The Multicolored Diary: Favorite Folktales for the Year of the Rabbit

Today marks the lunar new year, beginning the Year of the Rabbit according to the Chinese zodiac. As usual, I have collected a list of folktales and legends that feature rabbits and hares. It was a fairly easy task, since these animals often take on the role of the trickster in cultures around the world. There is an abundance of stories - I decided to cherry-pick my all-time favorites.

I love the #Netherlands , but around new year I really wish I lived somewhere else. I come from a country where fireworks are centralized. Everyone comes together at a few designated places and professionals give amazing fireworks shows. Here, it seems like a war zone for 2 months. I just don't get why people like to literally burn their money or, even worse, turn it into sound bombs.

What's the most disappointing is the lack of empathy. Empathy for small children, for pets, for the elderly, for people that are escaping war zone, for the birds, for the environment... I mean, what goes through the head of people who throw their own fireworks. I just don't get it...
