Somehow it has never been as difficult to make a record as it is today. Times are so mixed up you can't just make light music that everyone feels comfortable with. There is no time to feel good. I fluctuate between anarcho-punk and southern civil war songs ... something to burn down the world. But that doesn't help either. But it will be something like that, the working title is "in a world of compromise".
Some songs are already in the can "moral panic", "torture", "lefthand side of god", "Hack the world", "Mama tried", "Step into the sun (you deserve to be killed)" ... nothing about love so far, not even about unfulfilled... #music #recording #undeadsyncopators

Whether the masses were hitting the #dancefloor or the demolition night, there's no question that disco was one of the sonic signifiers of the 1970s. In this week's episode of What's That Sound, Noam and Jessica explore how to best recreate the sound of disco #drums, channeling multiple classic recordings by the likes of #DonnaSummer, The #BeeGees, and Chic—that means airtight, dry and controlled sounds with lots of separation between each element of the kit.

Masterpiece of Iranian architecture: 17th century ceiling of the Music Hall within Ali Qapu Palace, Isfahan Iran. The ceiling, decorated with muqarnas, has a double walled design featuring acoustic niches to absorb echoes, allowing audiences to hear the musicians clearly without distortion.

The hall was used by the musicians when a European guy in 18th century was invited by the king to capture the music with his vax recording device to capture and "burn" the songs on a large collection of vax cylinders.

The recordings surfaced about 30 years ago but they said that they were bought by a private buyer who outbid the Iranian national heritage representative by 300%. The story died out ever since, but it was referred to "sedaye soukhte" (the burned sounds) collection in various circles inside and outside Iran.

There is no way of finding any clear or reliable source about the story to verify it's authenticity. It might have just been one of those urban legends or con-men stories.

The place is absolutely mind blowing, every section of it is unique and beautifully crafted and adapted to the curves of the arches and different angels. I remember the first time I visited the place when I was 12 or 13, I pend over an hour with my foldable binoculars trying to identify each piece and count how many they were. I had headache the whole afternoon after that.
I repeated the same just a few months before I left Iran but that time with a much better set of binoculars and with 2 other friends who were as crazy as I was about the architecture.

I wish to go back one day and show it to my kids.

EasyEffects for Linux - An open source audio effects application for recording audio

This application used to be called PulseEffects but it was renamed to EasyEffects after we started to use GTK4 and replaced GStreamer by native PipeWire filters.

This is really useful for cleaning up audio when doing recordings for videos. Yes OBS Studio has many of these built-in, but if you are using third party screen recorders like say SimpleScreenRecorder, they have no audio input processing, and this is where EasyEffects is really useful. There are a good 23 effects, but some like auto gain, compressor, equalizer, and noise reduction will be most useful.

I installed from AUR for Arch Linux, but there is also a Flatpak install that should install on most Linux distros.

See GitHub - wwmm/easyeffects: Limiter, compressor, convolver, equalizer and auto volume and many other plugins for PipeWire applications

Sort of interesting music/LP trivia history, wrapped in a click-bait looking, "Your vinyl album may be worth big money". But it's not a slide show, no clicking through required. And some interesting details of the album cover histories.

Most Valuable Vinyl Records

I have 4 of these, but alas, none are the exact (first-edition) version.

How vinyl is pressed

Wanna make (or break) some records?

  1. Artist records performance --- to digital or analogue audio tape.
  2. Recording is mixed and engineered, cut to laquer-coated aluminium disk.
  3. Lacquer is silver and nickle electroplated to form master.
  4. Stampers are pressed from master, 2,000 psi at 300°F.
  5. Warm vinyl "biscuit" is sandwiched between lables and pressed in mold from stamper.

Freshly-pressed records are cooled, trimmed, stacked, checked, assembled into sleeves & jackets, wrapped, and shipped.

Every vinyl recording is already at least a fifth-generation copy.
