TikTok is pushing Saudi Shit posters live with restrictions on being able to block them.

It seems like TikTok censorship is mostly because of Saudi investment and push rather than Israeli one.

Now that even fediverse is limiting and blocking accounts posting the truth about Israeli war crimes, do we have any way to reach the public, other than small private circle of followers?

We have reached a new level of corporate censorship and populist complicity in covering up and hiding the heneous crimes of netanyahu's regime in Gaza, occupied west ban, #Syria, #Lebanon, #Yemen and #Iraq.

World Wide Web Foundation to close, as Berners-Lee shifts focus to Solid Protocol to take on centralised social media

Man with thinning hair sitting ina chair on a podium holding a microphone in his right hand.
In a surprising announcement, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, founder of the web, and Rosemary Leith, co-founder of the World Wide Web Foundation, revealed that the organization is ceasing operations. The decision comes after 16 years of advocating for a safe, trusted, open web.

However, Berners-Lee is not giving up on the Foundation’s goals; instead, he’s just redirected his efforts to the Solid Protocol.

From where they sit, the top threat to users’ rights is dominant, centralised social media platforms, such as Facebook, X, and Reddit. This dominance has led to the commoditization of user data and a concentration of power that’s contrary to Berners-Lee’s original vision of the web.

I’ve mentioned before that I was very concerned about some great ideas that came out of the Solid Protocol, but the momentum was dismally slow. There was a proof of concept and then not a lot heard. So this move is probably a very good thing to get some momentum and help shake things up.

Big businesses running a centralised social media platform, some selling the data, others exploiting it for their own gains, some giving into political interferences, etc is just not good for end users (the public).

On the other hand, decentralised platforms need to work cohesively, profiles need to survive hosting changes, users need to be found (if they wish to be), and they need to interconnect. This is what the Solid Protocol was tackling.

So, I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with this going forward.

a fake ID account on TikTok posting pro Israeli propaganda photoshopped UN chief Antonio Guterres with a Lebanese Hezbollah headband at UN press conference titled "Hezbollah's latest member".

She is part of the massive propaganda campaign by pro Israeli and accounts, bots, paid influencers to discredit UN chief because he didn't mention Iran when he condemned "escalation" in the region without mentioning Iran.

“Anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran’s heinous attack on Israel does not deserve to step foot on Israeli soil,” said Katz in a statement. “This is an anti-Israel Secretary-General who lends support to terrorists, rapists, and murderers.”

A bit o #TrumpVIrus consistency here... (expect the most irrational & impulsive assault on #truth) ...

Meanwhile, in this world of #socialmedia and #Fediverse #news sources...
Something new on #Mastodon, for news-o-holics. Flipboard has now landed with a bevy of official news org's, from PBS and NPR, to Vanity Fair, RollCall, AP and more. Thinking I'm about to drown in new stories, but it's my own fault if I follow it all.

I think a great thing for the Federation movement, especially with many people 'following' somewhere other than on "X".

Now on Mastodon, FYI (1/2):

African Stream has been banned by Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. We were censored after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made false, unsubstantiated claims against us on Friday. To be clear, contrary to the accusations, African Stream does not receive any funding from any state.

We will shorty release a full statement regarding our work, our funding and these accusations. We are currently consulting our legal team to figure out how best to move forward.

We thank all of our loyal followers and encourage those who want to hear our pan-African perspectives to join our Patreon and Telegram. (We are also still on TikTok and X - for now!)

Texts, social media a 'minefield' for couples divorcing: lawyer

As people's lives and relationships have increasingly shifted online over more than a decade, digital records such as text messages, emails and Instagram posts have become a mainstay of divorce and family cases, to the point where Ontario courts have had to impose limits on how much can be filed, experts say.
