It was the season of Llaf in Mirror land.

Crushed brown leaves, indistinguishable from the mud they inhabited, pulled themselves together. Slowly, they unfurled, stretched, became whole. Tans, reds and yellows flowed from their veins, colouring the magical carpet beneath the trees.

The leaves rose with the strong winds, sorting themselves by shape. And they flew, one by one, to their respective trees. Once attached to twig and branch, green slowly filled them. In return, they gave up their reds and yellows, sending them to the sun to increase its warmth.

Soon green filled the trees and the air was brighter. It would soon be Remmus.

Dr. Neal interviewed by Mel Hopper Koppelman, episode 4: The Sacred Dance of the Seasons
“We aren’t like nature, we are nature”. In this episode Edward Neal and Mel Hopper discuss how the Neijing describes seasonal patterns and changes in relation to our bodies’ natural patterns. What does it mean to breathe with the seasons? When we learn to live with the seasons we learn to go with the flow of life.

Happy Autumn Solstice - 22SEP22

Many are hoping still for some pleasant weather but the solstice will do solstice. Some worship it, some dread it. Seasons change.

Now this here... It is about to be perfectly aligned, exactly.
Just like this symmetrical date. Happy Solstice Autumn 22.
22AUT22

This from a few weeks earlier, in the rain. Look straight up the middle; that is where the sun would be rising if you could see it!

Well, autumn lovers are in luck, as your solstice is arriving on Platform B.

Meanwhile, if you'll excuse me, I must be on my way....

My Central Park Spot

Here is an image from a few days ago, following our "cyclone bomb"/blizzard snow storm in New York.
This little covered bench on the water - I guess technically a pergola - has been my 'power spot' nearly forever.

Now a bit desolate-looking covered in snow, you cannot see it but under the snow at its edge is the Central Park Lake, and when I first came across this sight it was summer, and a couple had stopped there with their rowboat. I took a photo in 1980 (before 'social media') but eventually it got seen by someone who wanted it as a book cover. That is this same spot, in spring:

Central Park Rowboat

The book is titled "One Day's Perfect Weather: More Twice Told Tales" - short stories by Daniel Stern (SMU Press). And it was.

I walk often in Central Park and this is but one little alcove in a huge expanse of trails and lake, castles, playgrounds, zoo & more.
But this spot always brings me a smile. So, thirty-five years later, graduating from Kodachrome to digital, I revisited the same spot, in autumn this time:

CP Boat 2 - Autumn

Finally, another 7 years and another season later... this winter visit. Photo is from this week (Feb 2022), but for post's sake, let's say it's

Sometime(s) in Winter
