If one party in a two-party system is no longer interested in #democracy, then it's over đ§
It is already clear that if #Trump is not re-elected, the shouting about #election #fraud will start again. If he is re-elected, democracy is over anyway.
The good #news is there will be no civil #war because the Republicans have all the weapons.

âFor historians,â the brief said, âcontemporary evidence from the decision-makers who sponsored, backed and voted for the 14th amendment ⊠demonstrates that decision-makers crafted section three to cover the president and to create an enduring check on insurrection, requiring no additional action from #Congress.â
On Monday the supreme court disagreed, saying in an unsigned opinion: âWe conclude that states may disqualify persons holding or attempting to hold state office. But states have no power under the #constitution to enforce section three with respect to federal offices, especially the presidency.â
This makes it one of those democracies where there are draconian punishments for minor crimes that overcrowd the prisons, but those who attempt a #coup have nothing to fear.

yesterday Iran had it's 12th parliamentary election since the revolution with only 24% of eligible voters participated in the election.
It's one of the lowest turnout in the past 16 years.
The election is usually not very popular because only candidate pre approved by the election comitee can participate in the process and their win can't be validated unless they are post approved by the group of unelected clergymen assigned by the regime's "spiritual leader".

Perhaps you would be kind enough to allow me to declare a few theses on the #geopolitics of the U.S.
1) If #Ukraine loses the war, it would be a step backwards towards a liberal #world order. Autocracies would be on the rise and #China could feel empowered to invade #Taiwan.
2) If the #West had not supported Ukraine, the #war would already be over. It seems immoral to only half-heartedly #support Ukraine and thereby prolong the suffering for #power games.
3) If #Biden now denies Ukraine #military support for tactical #election maneuvers and fails to deliver urgently needed #ammunition, then his office is more important to him than the well-being of the world and the #future of #freedom.
4) If Biden were to supply the ammunition and thus lose the election, not only would #Trump win but #democracy would be damaged.
5) Geopolitics is a cynical #dilemma that costs many lives.

Freedom of speech is a great good and part of the #constitution. But you should think about what you say and consider the #consequences. What the Republicans want is to say absolutely everything without any consequences. But that's not how #communication works. The brain can be used and not every analogy is valid. If #Musk now pays everyone to go to court, the American justice system will probably come to a standstill.

The way the starts are aligned right now, if we lose no states in the #senate (aside from WV which we will lose, the best we can do in the senate is gain 11 seats at the end of the 2028 #election. That's being generous and treating NC, OH, LA, KS, IA and TX as purple states. The #filibuster has to go or this complete stalemate will never end. At our luckiest in 2024 we will keep the senate with the VP acting as the tie breaker. That's only if we lose WV and swap out Sinema with a real democrat. NC is the state most likely to flip. OH, KS, LA and IA have surprised us here and there with their senators and governors, and TX demographics are shifting slowly but not organizing enough to the latino vote, too many who do are ones motivated to vote for Trump. America's political system is complete broken and getting worse as 17% of Americans control 50% of the senate and that percentage keeps dropping. every year.
