State’s ‘slow and agonizing’ execution of Kenneth Smith using an untested method labeled as cruel by experts and advocates
Alabama faced widespread condemnation after the state executed Kenneth Eugene Smith on Thursday evening using nitrogen gas, the first time the practice has been used in the United States to kill someone.
Smith’s execution by “nitrogen hypoxia” took around 22 minutes, according to media witnesses, who were led into a viewing room at the William C Holman correctional facility in Atmore shortly before 8 pm local time.
Smith was fitted with a face mask. He used sign language to say “I love you” to witnesses in the viewing room, and in his final statement he said: “Tonight, Alabama caused humanity to take a step backward.”
After the nitrogen gas began flowing, Smith convulsed on the gurney for several minutes. The state had previously said the nitrogen gas would cause Smith to lose consciousness in seconds and die within minutes, according to the Associated Press.
“I’ve been to four previous executions and I’ve never seen a condemned inmate thrash in the way that Kenneth Smith reacted to the nitrogen gas,” Lee Hedgepeth, a journalist who witnessed the execution, told the BBC’s Newsday programme.
Jeff Hood, Smith’s spiritual adviser, was in the death chamber when Smith was killed. In a tearful television interview with CNN, he said Smith “popped up on the gurney over and over and over again. He shook the whole gurney”.
“I have never, ever seen anything like that,” he said. “That was torture.”

حکم اعدام ایوب کریمی، زندانی عقیدتی اهل مهاباد و پدر دو فرزند پس از تحمل ١۴ سال حبس، سحرگاه امروز ۸ آذر ۴۰۲ در زندان قزلحصار کرج اجرا شد.
طی هفته‌های گذشته، قاسم آبسته یکی از هم‌پرونده‌های ایوب کریمی نیز در زندان اعدام شد و پنج هم‌پرونده‌ای دیگر آنان نیز در معرض خطر اجرای حکم اعدام قرار دارند.

Mostafa Karim Beighi. Was one of the victims of 2019 uprising in Iran who was killed by the IRI security police.
His parents never gave up fighting to clear the name of their child and demand justice for the person or those responsible for his murder. And in a post on Instagram, he wrote:
these are hard days to be a father, they kill your son, and when father demand justice, they put him in prison without any charges.
The post is in support of Mashallah Karami father of Mohammad Mehdi Karami, one of those executed by the regime after last year's protest.

When the #bubonic #plague struck #Geneva in 1530, everything was ready. They even opened a whole #hospital for the plague victims. With #doctors, #paramedics and #nurses. The traders contributed, the magistrate gave grants every month. The patients always gave money, and if one of them died alone, all the goods went to the hospital.
But then a #disaster happened: the plague was dying out, while the #subsidies depended on the number of patients. There was no question of right and wrong for the Geneva hospital staff in 1530. If the plague produces money, then the plague is good. And then the doctors got organized.
At first, they just #poisoned #patients to raise the #mortality #statistics, but they quickly realized that the statistics didn’t have to be just about mortality, but about mortality from plague. So they began to cut the #boils from the bodies of the dead, dry them, grind them in a mortar and give them to other patients as #medicine. Then they started #dusting clothes, handkerchiefs and garters. But somehow the plague continued to abate. Apparently, the dried #buboes didn’t work well. #Doctors went into town and #spread bubonic powder on door handles at night, selecting those homes where they could then profit. As an eyewitness wrote on these events, “this remained hidden for some time, but the devil is more concerned with increasing the number of sins than with hiding them.”
In short, one of the doctors became so impudent and lazy that he decided not to wander the city at night, but simply threw a bundle of dust into the crowd during the day. The stench rose to the sky and one of the girls, who by a lucky chance had recently come out of that hospital, recognized what that smell was.
The doctor was tied up and placed in the good hands of competent “craftsmen.” They tried to get as much information from him as possible. However, the #execution lasted several days. The #ingenious #hypocrites were tied to poles on wagons and carried around the city. At each intersection the executioners used red-hot tongs to tear off pieces of meat. They were then taken to the public square, #beheaded and #quartered, and the pieces were taken to all the districts of Geneva.
The only exception was the hospital director’s son, who did not take part in the trial but blurted out that he knew how to make potions and how to prepare the powder without fear of contamination. He was simply beheaded “to prevent the spread of evil”.
Apparently the Geneva doctors didn’t initially understand that excess mortality statistics would give them away either.
It is said that #Bonivard’s work is not well-regarded by historians. I have no doubt that is the case. But that does not mean that it does not provide a faithful and true account of the events it relates. What historians believe to be credible is often a very false and unreliable metric. The abhorrent behavior of the sixteenth-century Geneva doctors is much easier to believe in the immediate aftermath of the #Covid #pandemic and the #mass #vaxxassinations of their twenty-first-century counterparts.
And it’s interesting to see how the hospital bureaucrats were in on the murderous Geneva scheme too.
In addition, Western propaganda has come out with so many egregious #lies, that anything they claim has to be viewed critically.
Just Google “Russia” and “war crimes”— you will get no less than 130,000,000 results. Now look at this list. You will see multiple entries, using almost identical phrasing, indicating the same sources.
Now Google “UAF war crimes”. 234,000 results.
Yet, while there is almost no hard #evidence of Russian war crimes, there is more than enough of UAF crimes. 15,000 dead in Eastern Ukraine testify to that. Not to mention the well-documented shelling of civilian sites, in addition to random #atrocities such as #rape and #murder and, of course, numerous Ukrainian videos of the #mutilation and #execution of POWs.
“ #Bucha massacre”? A miniscule 1,160,000 results. Yet all the photos showed fresh bodies who apparently remained fresh for 3 weeks. Those chicken cutlets in my fridge go bad in about a week. But they don’t have white arm bands, indicating they are Russian chickens.
We must assume the laws of Nature are different for Russians. Not to mention basic psychology.
The Western #Media would have us believe the Russians are self-destructive. Massacring their own. Blowing up their own pipelines. Attacking their own nuclear power plants, shelling their own hospitals, schools, and shopping centers.
Again, this is not to say that individual Russians or Wagnerites have NOT done some bad stuff— just as American and Brit soldiers did in WWII — just not on the same scale as the UkroNazis. Don’t #believe what you read uncritically.

As recently as 2018, Alabama was forced to halt the execution of Doyle Hamm after execution staff punctured his body at least 11 times in his ankles, legs, and groin, apparently even piercing his bladder over a three-hour period. Hamm’s attorney, Bernard Harcourt, was there that evening, demanding an explanation for the long delay and preparing a legal offensive for the morning. Hamm’s case has since become emblematic of the grotesque reality of lethal #injection, compared with its putatively sterile, professional public-facing aesthetics. Lethal injections largely happen, quite literally, behind a curtain; what observers do see looks vaguely surgical; what they don’t looks like a war #crime.
