Australian scientists develop pain-free blood sugar test for diabetics

This latest test works by embedding an enzyme that detects glucose into a transistor that can then transmit the presence of glucose, according to Paul Dastoor, Professor of Physics at the University of Newcastle in Australia, who led the team that created it.

Since the electronic materials in the transistor are inks, the test can be made through printing at a low cost, Dastoor said. The new test, Dastoor said, was created by chance as scientists were working on solar cells.

Australian scientists say they have developed the "holy grail" of blood sugar testing for diabetics, a non-invasive strip that checks glucose levels via saliva.

McMaster University Research: No lab required - New technology can diagnose infections in minutes using a handheld device similar to a blood-glucose monitor

Their proof-of-concept research, published today in the journal Nature Chemistry, specifically describes the test's effectiveness in diagnosing urinary tract infections from real clinical samples. The researchers are adapting the test to detect other forms of bacteria and for the rapid diagnosis of viruses, including COVID-19. They also plan to test its viability for detecting markers of cancer.

Existing practice typically requires sending samples to laboratories to be cultured (at quite a cost), a process that can take days. Providing immediate results to patients can reduce the spread of infection, improve patients' quality of life and simplify the work of busy clinicians.

The idea of visiting the doctor's office with symptoms of an illness and leaving with a scientifically confirmed diagnosis is much closer to reality because of new technology developed by researchers at McMaster University.

37 doctors of #Delhi's Sir Gangaram #Hospital found #Covid positive

Earlier this week, over 40 doctors of Lucknow's King George's #Medical #University were found infected with the #virus. Most of the doctors had already received both jabs of the #coronavirus #vaccine.

This is really bad #news because it suggests that the vaccine is not working on the Indian #mutation of the virus.

6 Months After Infection, 76% of COVID-19 Patients Are Still Suffering Symptoms

And this, my friends, is one of my top bullet points as to why I do NOT want to become infected with this shit.

I fear that as time goes by and the vaccine rolls out more broadly, folks will again become lax in their behaviors; partying in large crowds, no mask wearing, forgetting to wash hands, etc.

This could be a very bad scenario. How many "lock downs" and how much self-isolating can we expect to be required to deal with? Sadly, I'm pretty sure we'll still be in similar, possibly worse, straits around this time next year (2022).

Up to 60% of US health workers are refusing to get COVID-19 vaccines

This is very disturbing. I'd like to hear their reasoning for this. Unfortunately, this is NOT going to inspire the regular folks in the streets positively regarding getting themselves vaccinated promptly.
