The Fake Science of Sugar

How #fat and #cholesterol were substituted for sugar and turned #Americans into an #unhealthy #herd of waddling #land-whales.

A doctor explains how the groundwork for the #FoodPyramid #nonsense and the encouragement to reduce #fat consumption and increase #carbohydrate #consumption of the 1990s was laid by the #corruption of #scientistry in the 1960s.

In 1967, a single scientific study revealed the true #culprit of the #diabetes and #heart-disease #epidemic was #sugar. NOT saturated fat or cholesterol. So why wasn’t this information made common knowledge? They covered it all up. The sugar industry knew the results of these studies would tank sales and cost them billions. So the #SugarResearchFoundation paid three #Harvard #scientists $65,000 each to “prove” sugar was harmless. The scientists were some of the most respected nutrition experts in the world. Dr. #FrederickStare was the chairman of Harvard’s Department of Nutrition. Dr. #MarkHegsted was a scientific advisor for the USDA. Dr. #RobertGandy was a pioneer in dietary research.

The scientists dismissed multiple long-term studies. The first study proved sugar caused deadly #arterial #plaques. This was ignored. Another showed heart disease skyrocketed on a #high-carb #diet. The scientists dismissed it, claiming “these diets are rarely consumed.” The consequences of this scientific manipulation are horrifying. The truth about sugar and its effects on obesity, diabetes, and heart disease remained in the dark for years. Well-meaning doctors prescribed their patients #low-fat, high-carb diets for decades. These #dietary suggestions are to blame for the #obesity #crisis in America.

The #USDA urged Americans to trade #butter for #margarine. Margarine is now accepted as an artery-clogging #poison. And another massive shift was to “healthy” low-fat foods loaded with hidden sugars. As a result, U.S sugar consumption tripled. So did #BigSugar profits. And not surprisingly, so did type 2 diabetes and blood sugar issues. In 1980, only 1 in 50 Americans had a blood sugar problem. Today, that number is up to 1 in 3. High blood sugar kills roughly 3.2 million people per year.

In other words, as with #immigration and #third-world #overpopulation, the seeds of the castastrophic crises we are experiencing across the West were planted in a very small period of time between 1960 and 1967.

During the mid-20th century, Borlaug led the introduction of these high-yielding varieties combined with modern agricultural production techniques to Mexico, Pakistan, and India. As a result, Mexico became a net exporter of wheat by 1963. Between 1965 and 1970, wheat yields nearly doubled in Pakistan and India, greatly improving the food security in those nations. These collective increases in yield have been labeled the Green Revolution, and Borlaug is often credited with saving over a billion people worldwide from starvation. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 in recognition of his contributions to world peace through increasing food supply.

Add the names of Frederick Stare, Mark Hegsted, and Robert Gandy to the infamous list that includes #NormanBorlaug, #PhilipHart, and #EmmanuelCellar of men whose objectives and actions contributed the most to the downfall of the West and its transformation into #ClownWorld.

#Germany: Study Shows Chemical Banned in 2013 Increasingly Found in Children

"[B]etween 2017 and 2021, the proportion of samples [from kindergarten children] contaminated with MnHeP increased from 26% to 61%."

These #government people do nothing but talk about #global-warming.
They don’t talk about the #poisonous #chemicals in the #environment, which are entering the bodies of all #humans.

Gript:

Germany’s Federal Environment Agency (UBA) is sounding the alarm after finding high levels in humans of a #banned #plasticiser—a chemical added to a material to make it more flexible and less brittle. The presence of the harmful substance, linked to male #infertility and higher risks of #diabetes and #obesity, was discovered as part of the ongoing 6th German environmental study on health.

UBA toxicologist Marika Kolossa said to Die Welt that the metabolite MnHexP had been found in 28 percent of urine samples so far.

A breakdown product of the plasticizer di-n-hexyl phthalate (DnHexP), MnHexP, has been strictly regulated since 2013 and is largely #prohibited in the #EuropeanUnion. It was first discovered in humans in 2023... continue

Recently, inositols, especially myo-inositol and inositol hexakisphosphate, also known as phytic acid or IP6, with their biological activities received much attention for their role in multiple health beneficial effects. Although their roles in cancer treatment and prevention have been extensively reported, interestingly, they may also have distinctive properties in energy metabolism and metabolic disorders. We review inositols and inositol phosphate metabolism in mammalian cells to establish their biological activities and highlight their potential roles in energy metabolism. These molecules are known to decrease insulin resistance, increase insulin sensitivity, and have diverse properties with importance from cell signaling to metabolism. Evidence showed that inositol phosphates might enhance the browning of white adipocytes and directly improve insulin sensitivity through adipocytes. In addition, inositol pyrophosphates containing high-energy phosphate bonds are considered in increasing cellular energetics.

Withings Launches Smart Scale That Helps With Diabetes Management

Greean background with top view of a matte black smart scale with a display showing 82 Normal.
Using add-on health modules that are available by prescription, the scale is able to track biomarkers that are usually only available in a clinical setting. The diabetes module monitors Electrochemical Skin Conductance, which allows it to detect signs of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathies that can lead to diabetic foot ulcers. Peripheral neuropathies are one of the most common diabetic complications, according to Withings, and as of now, are checked for only at annual doctor visits.

Whilst Google’s Fitbit scales seem to be stagnating and struggling with software support issues (and have been withdrawn from 30 countries), it does look like Withings is expanding their functionality. Nothing is going to last forever, and one always has to be aware that cloud-based functionality can disappear or become more expensive over time.

For many the convenience of a connected scale is that it records your weight over time. Maybe we just need a smartphone app that you take a photo every time of the weight reading, and it uploads that automatically to your favourite health app?

MIT Scientists create a living medical device that is made from human cells that secrete insulin, and may replace injections someday

Bild/Foto
MIT scientists might be one step closer to making insulin injections a thing of the past. In a new study this week, they’ve shown that it’s possible to implant a medical device inside mice that produces its own supply of insulin for up to a month. More research will be needed before this technology would be widely available to use in humans, however.

The team’s device features a membrane that creates oxygen by splitting apart nearby water molecules—in theory, allowing for an indefinite supply of oxygen. The device can also be powered wirelessly with a small amount of voltage, which might only require a small patch to be worn on the skin.

"Kellogg’s is waging a war here over Tigre Toño and Sam el Tucán.

A 2019 policy requires companies that make unhealthy foods to include warning labels on the front of any boxes they sell in Mexico to educate consumers about things like excess sugar and fat. Any food with a warning label — like Kellogg’s Fruit Loops or its Frosted Flakes, which typically contain more than 37 grams of added sugar in a 100-gram serving — is also banned from including a mascot on its packaging."
