Microsoft Teams - "Open with the desktop app" default setting - Microsoft Community

A colleague had the problem that he couldn't change this under windows.
The workaround here solved the problem:

Teams doesn't actually check the License, it checks the Office Installation Release ID.

    1. Change the registry value "HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration\ProductReleaseIds" to "O365ProPlusRetail"

   2. Restart Teams

     3. Go to Teams Settings -> Files -> Open in Desktop-App

    4. Wish the responsible Microsoft decision makers who made the decision to cut off Business Premium Users (SMEs) from this setting that their pizzas always fell on the topping side.

Solution to a common issue with ELF executables

Are you having difficulty executing a file on 64 bit Linux because the executable crashes yelling it cannot find itself?

$ ls
cat.jpg executable* secret.txt
$ ./executable -argument param -argument2  param
./executable: file not found

This is not an existential issue of your filesystem, instead your system is missing the correct libc for the architecture of the software you are trying to execute.
You can verify it by executing:

$ file ./executable
exeutable: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib/ld-linux.so.2, for GNU/Linux 2.6.24, BuildID[sha1]=11e741041c519dd5aee726c7170d345a6abf542c, not stripped

Modern, standard 64 bits executables will have a binary interpreter under /lib64 (eg. /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2) and not /lib (eg. /lib/ld-linux.so.2); in addition, the file utility reports explicitly the architecture at the beginning of the output line.
Now you are sure the executable which cannot find itself requires another ELF interpreter!

SOLUTION: install libc6-i386 using apt and the issue will disappear instantly!

Turning the digital crown around makes the Apple Watch more comfortable to wear, especially for left-handers

Bild/Foto
Did you know you can switch the orientation of your Apple Watch, so the digital crown faces a different direction? While most people with an Apple Watch wear it with the digital crown located on the upper right side next to the display, there’s a way to turn the button around.

Typically, if you wear your Watch on your right arm, or you just often bump the crown by mistake, this may be something you want to consider.

Unter Android 12 lässt sich das WiFi-Interface über das Quick-Settings-Menü nur über mehrere Schritte an- bzw. ausschalten. Wer den alten Quick-Button wieder haben möchte.
1. Debug Modus aktivieren
2. Über adb die folgenden zwei Befehle absetzen:

settings put global settings_provider_model false

settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles “wifi, cell,$(settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles)”

Multi-Column Streams in diaspora, Tumblr, Mastodon, Facebook, and MeWe

I've now added a new MeWe Multi-Column userstyle, and refined Mastodon to support non-advanced web interface mode.

1) click userstyle here: https://userstyles.world/user/isaackuo

2) click on green GET STYLUS button to install Stylus plugin

3) click on blue INSTALL button to install the userstyle

For diaspora and Mastodon, edit the userstyle to add your pod to the URL domains it applies to (click on S plugin icon, select Manage ... )

For Mastodon, try "advanced web interface" to see if it works better for you.

#diaspora #tumblr #mastodon #facebook #mewe #pluspora #tips #tip #diasporatips

If you have already used my Multi-Column userstyles, consider re-installing them from https://userstyles.world/user/isaackuo because that way you'll get automatic updates when I update them. For a while, I hadn't figured out how to get my updates to propagate properly, but I've figured it out now. I have to manually alter the version number before publishing the update.

G+ style Multi-Column Streams in diaspora, Tumblr, Mastodon, and Facebook

I've moved over my Multi-Column userstyles to the Stylus repository at userstylesDOTworld *

https://userstyles.world/user/isaackuo

I’ve put together CSS styles which provide multi-column Streams in various social media platforms. This has a huge effect on browsing speed. To use them, you:

1) Download Stylus plugin (Chrome, Firefox or Opera): https://add0n.com/stylus.html

2) Install desired Multi-Column styles from here: https://userstyles.world/user/isaackuo

Modify the domain it acts on if you’re using a different pod

Enjoy!

= = = = = ADDITIONAL NOTES = = = = =

diaspora is the most refined, with a lot of extra features like multicolumn comments, autoexpand all posts, font size customization, and other UI enhancements

Tumblr is also solid; it keeps the standard width of Tumblr posts and is responsive to width (2 or 3 or 5 columns)

Mastodon is maybe 95% good, depending on how you prefer to use Mastodon. It's designed for use with the "Advanced" view.

Facebook is a bit crude, but I'm proud that I was finally able to crack its CSS well enough

Of these platforms, the only ones I use significantly are diaspora, Tumblr, and Mastodon. Those will be the best supported, naturally.

Note, the old site is the repository for Stylish, which Stylus was forked from. Stylish reports site usage data back to the mothership, whereas Stylus does not. Old site is here: https://userstyles.org/users/773238

Using markdown editors for crafting posts on Diaspora, creating backups of your content.

When Google+ announced they were closing their consumer-facing version of their social network, I immediately found myself wanting to export a lot of my content. A lot of folks were in the same boat here. It made me realize I should have been backing up a lot of my G+ content from Day 1. Ah well, live and learn.

I use markdown editors for two reasons: 1) I can create a backup file of longer posts, and 2) I can craft and format a post outside of a browser--giving me extra space to catch errors and make tweaks before posting.

Once I'm finished crafting a longer post, I can simply copy/paste the final draft into the Diaspora editor, and then post for all ye lovelies.

What is a markdown editor?

A markdown editor is similar to a text editor, think Notepad but with a few extra features. A lot of editors have a side-by-side view; one side is where you write the markdown, and the other side is the preview or output.

Since you are creating a file (.md), you can save these files anywhere you want. I like to save them to a cloud drive, that way I can access and work on them across multiple devices and different editors. For example: If I have a markdown editor on my Android phone that syncs with Dropbox, I can open a file I started on my Windows laptop and pick up where I left off.

Here are a couple of markdown editors

I've tried a lot of different markdown editors, across several platforms--Windows, Android, Chrome OS. I like a lot of different ones for different reasons, but I wanted to share with you two apps I've found that are solid. If you want to find one for yourself, you can simply search "markdown editor" and have a field day. I recommend looking in the Microsoft Store, if you are on Windows 10, because a lot of good indie developers are making good apps there (including markdown editors).

Appy Text (Windows 10)

Appy Text is a little text and markdown editor that is very sleek. It has a nice distraction-free quality to it, which makes writing very pleasant. I've written first drafts of some of my fictional work in it, because of this. It has light/dark theme and other customization options. You can also use tabs, opening multiple files at once, which is really nice. Below is a screenshot. It's available from the Microsoft Store here.

Appy Text screenshot

Material Markdown (Chrome)

I've been writing this post in Material Markdown. It's a Chrome app (or are we calling them all extensions now?). It does run on Chrome OS and on Windows. While it may not have the "tabs" view for multitasking that Appy Text does, it has lots of other useful features. For one, it has a toolbar across the top, so you can simply highlight text and press "B" for "BOLD". This is good if you're new to markdown, it gives you a chance to learn the different options. That said, it supports tables, but Diaspora does not. It also uses a color code for the different formatting options--headers are teal, bold is yellow, etc. It also has a spell-checker, which will highlight words in red if it doesn't recognize it. In my experience, it's hit and miss. There were some words it should have recognized, but didn't, but still it caught some typos too. That said, the spell-checker can be turned off if you don't like it. Below is a screenshot. You can install Material Markdown from Chrome's web store here.

As soon as possible': Austria's Kurz on snap elections following leaked video scandal
The development follows a scandal that involved Austria’s Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache, who is a member of the Freedom Party (FPO) – a junior member of Kurz’s right-wing coalition. On Friday, the German newspapers Spiegel and Suddeutscher Zeitung broke a story centered around a leaked secret 2017 recording showing Strache and another high-ranking FPO member talking to a woman who was described as a “niece of a Russian oligarch.”

The politicians discussed the ways the woman could support their election campaign ahead of Austria’s 2017 general vote in exchange for future preferences in acquiring government contracts in the field of construction. They particularly discussed the possibility of her buying a majority share in an Austrian tabloid newspaper and using it as a platform to support the FPO.

Following the reports, Strache announced his resignation both from the post of vice-chancellor and the post of the FPO leader while calling the leak “political assignation.”

However, he did not dispute the video’s authenticity, arguing instead that it should be made public in full and adding that he maintained during that meeting at “everything must be within the law.”

The scandal rocked the Austrian society with thousands of people taking to the streets to demand snap elections. Some 5,000 protesters joined a spontaneous rally outside of the Chancellor’s Office in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

US Anti-Iran Moves Putting Europe’s Security in Danger’
A former Iranian diplomat says US President Donald Trump is endangering the future economic, political and security of Europe through its anti-Iran policies.
Mohsen Pakaein, a former ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan and Thailand, made the remarks in an interview with Shafaqna.

“The US’ action against Iran will intensify the arms race, especially in the nuclear field, and this will be the real problem for Europe’s future,” he noted.

“Indeed, Trump also questions Europe’s economic, political and security future by acting against Iran. It seems to me that in European countries there is a domestic pressure from the people and the elites against the leaders, and if they do not think of a solution, they may be faced with domestic dissatisfaction in their country.”

He said European countries, including France, want to deal with the Iranian people in a manner consistent with the arrogance of the United States and threat Iranians, but they have usually failed if they acted based on threat, intimidation, and psychological war.

Regarding the recent statement by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, who called Iran’s suspension of its commitments “bad reaction” and urged the Islamic Republic to show political maturity, he said, they want to deal with Iran with the threat approach, but it fails.

Pakaein also talked about the practical steps taken by France to preserve the JCPOA, saying the European countries, including France, have two approaches.

“One is an independent approach, and France as a result of hostilities towards Iran, adopts a tough stance against our country. But there is another stance within the framework of the European Union, which is set forth by Federica Mogherini. This is a more rational stance without much ado. I think we need to take seriously the European Union’s position on the issue. It is the European Union that has to make the final decision and within 60 days it should find a way to solve Iran’s problems.”

He further mentioned that usually, Europeans do not lift sanctions so as not to fulfil their commitments. To do so, in some way they limit their commitments about the nuclear deal, noted Pakaein.

“They claim we do not have an influence on European private companies and European banks, while this is not the case. We have seen when Europe’s interests are being jeopardised by the US in terms of the tariffs set by Washington against European products, the Europeans stand united. Both governments and private companies as well as banks take a stance against the United States and put in place a reciprocal policy against Washington,” the Iranian former diplomat said.
