In the age of digital communication, needing to sign important documents online has become increasingly common, but it’s not necessarily the easiest process.
For an iPhone you can just use the standard Photos app to open it, hit Edit, click the Markup button, and add signature. Useful that you can also move it around.
I see on my Samsung Galaxy phone I can similarly use the Samsung Notes app and just a PDF with the S Pen. The selection tool will also allow me to select and move that signature around or resize it.
Both phones will allow you to sign, or complete, a document offline and no 3rd party apps needed.

Highlights include many tools for converting units, a bunch of system integrations for checking things like whether a particular Bluetooth device or Wi-Fi device is connected, and a bunch of features for working with images and lists. The application works for both mobile devices, including the iPhone and iPad, as well as Macs. A few of the actions only work on one or the other but the vast majority work on all devices.

But what if you could update the device while it's still in the box? That's the latest plan cooked up by Apple, which is close to rolling out a system that will let Apple Stores wirelessly update new iPhones while they're still in their boxes. The new system is called "Presto."

Begin dit jaar startte Waag Futurelab samen met partners met het Mobifree-project. De missie is even ambitieus als fundamenteel: Europese inwoners en organisaties voorzien van een grotere keuze in en toegang tot mensgerichte en ethische mobiele software. Danny Lämmerhirt leidt dit traject voor Waag. Hij legt uit waarom juist die mobiele software zo cruciaal is, hoe die nu wordt gedomineerd door twee grote spelers en waarom we moeten investeren in alternatieven.

In Mobifree wordt gesproken over het ‘mobiele ecosysteem’. Dat klinkt als iets heel groots. Wat moeten we hieronder verstaan? ‘Het mobiele ecosysteem is inderdaad een uitgebreide verzameling van samenwerkende onderdelen op je smartphone. Het gaat hierbij om zowel je apps, de telefoon zelf (hardware), het besturingssysteem, de verbindingen met de cloud, de firmware, de interfaces waardoor apps en andere code met elkaar communiceren, en alle datastromen tussen deze onderdelen. In Mobifree kijken we naar al deze lagen van het mobiele ecosysteem. Nu worden belangrijke delen van het systeem gecontroleerd door Apple en Google, wat leidt tot allerlei ongewenste afhankelijkheden en problemen. Ons doel is een alternatief te bieden.’ (...)
Elk mobiel ecosysteem is een combinatie van verschillende onderdelen: denk aan je besturingssysteem (iOS/Android), je apps (Whatsapp/Google Maps), je cloud-dienst (Drive/iCloud), je internetbrowser (Chrome/Safari) en je toestel (bijvoorbeeld Samsung of Huawei phones/iPhone). ... oder zumindest kontrollieren ob alle aktuellen Patche installiert wurden. Das betrifft fast alle Smartphones und Desktop Rechner stellt der IT-Sicherheitsforscher Marc Newlin fest, der sich nach dem Entdecken des Fehlers in Android Geräten auch auf anderen Plattformen umgesehen hat.
Auch dort hat er festgestellt, dass sich ohne Authentifizierung auf den Geräten Tastenanschläge einschleusen lassen. Damit können Angreifer Nachrichten weiterleiten, Apps installieren, beliebige Befehle ausführen - also praktisch das Gerät übernehmen.
Jede/r kann zum False Positive werden
Dieser Vorfall macht auch wieder deutlich, wie gefährlich Gesetze für die Betroffenen werden können, die die Unschuldsvermutung umkehren, denn wie beweise ich, dass ich etwas nicht getan habe, wenn es von oder auf meinem Gerät passiert ist?
Ursache noch unklar
Der IT-Sicherheitsforscher wird seine Erkenntnisse demnächst öffentlich vorstellen. Bis dahin ist es noch unklar, ob der Fehler grundsätzlich im Bluetooth Protokoll steckt oder ob es lediglich Fehler in den Implementierungen sind. Heise.de vermutet die "Schuld" auf beiden Seiten und führt eine Reihe von Patches für die verschiedenen Betriebssysteme auf, die mehr Sicherheit bringen können. Diese werden jedoch auf einigen Architekturen nicht standardmäßig bei Updates installiert. Bei den neuesten macOS- und iOS-Updates ist die Lücke wohl geschlossen.
