There has been a lot of news recently about Z-Library and its problems, but the Imperial Library has always been better because it requires no registration. It's more private. It also claims 1479907 books. These books are in many different languages. English and German are popular, but I also see Italian and French.

Ne Leute, noch mal zur Klarstellung: Wer bei mir einen Follower-Request stellt und dann auf seiner Instanz meine Requests wegen Nutzung von #tor blockt...
Das wird nix mit uns.
Reply to an #abuse message I received of a #Tor exit that was used for #SSH bruteforce. Looks good, right?
Hello,
Thanks for your notifications! If needed and wanted I can restrict the access to .... networks, please let me know if .... wants this and which network resources I should block exit to!
Please also understand that this is an Tor Exit server and that SSH bruteforce is a common problem with other anonymizing services as well, but SSH bruteforce has to be mitigated at the destination host in such a way that SSH service is secured or login requests are blocked after a certain number of attempts.
Please find our general information below.
These machines are Tor exit nodes. Tor is an anonymization network and exit nodes proxy traffic for other hosts on the Internet. By design, it is impossible for us to identify those other hosts or communicate with their operators.
The traffic you see comes from within the Tor network and is not an indicator for an infection or software running on the Tor node itself.
We have the ability to disable proxying to specific IP address ranges (not AS numbers) and specific TCP ports, but this should be considered a last resort tactic. It does not prevent anyone from using Tor to send spam to a certain server or access a certain server or whatsoever; the traffic would just divert to another exit node. Access as described by you can not be prevented by such measures and there is no infection we could clean up.
We are happy to work with you to minimize the impact on your service or on your network or to install a filter that blocks access for all Tor Exit Nodes (e.g. using
https://www.torproject.org/projects/tordnsel.html.en).
I hope you will consider allowing our relay/node to remain in (unfiltered) operation, as it is extremely valuable for people who need to conceal their identities online, especially in countries where access to the Internet is restricted. For more information please see https://www.torproject.org/about/overview.html#overview
We do not run an email server on this machine, nor could emails be relayed via out server.
Also feel free to contact us directly via abuse (at) artikel5ev dot de.
Kind regards,
utzer

The Tor Project has a YouTube channel where they do "State of the Onion" videos. This is the first time I've ever seen any of the people behind The Tor Project. The "State of the Onion 2022" was about Iran and Russia. Those were the main countries censoring the internet for which people wanted Tor's anti-censorship capability.
They have a system called Snowflake that disguises Tor traffic as regular web browsing. They have a TorVPN under development, which will work just like a regular VPN except it uses the Tor protocol under the hood. Users consider censorship circumvention as a feature of VPNs and consider Tor as an anonymity tool, and Tor VPN will merge both of these. They are rewriting everything in Rust under the code name Arti, and a package called Onionmasq will enable UDP and congestion control. They talk about how they are trying to fight malicious relays. They're developing a network emulation system called Shadow. You can run any application against Shadow and your application won't know it's on a simulated network rather than a real network.
They say privacy on the internet has declined for the 12th year in a row.

https://goodereader.com/blog/e-book-news/z-library-domains-are-seized-and-pirate-book-site-is-dead
The pirate site is effectively dead right now, since all of their DNS servers have also been seized. It remains to be seen if they will go back online with new domains or if they will fade away into nothingness.
Thing is: .onion
domain names don't use DNS. The Tor network, itself, takes care of routing. The browser doesn't learn the site's IP address, and the site doesn't learn the browser's IP address.
With the Tor Browser, you can access Z-Library at this URL.

In related news: The Imperial Library of Trantor is having severe problems. Some weeks ago it went down. Then it returned, but with no books in its catalog (It had hundreds of thousands.) Today, the server is down again. The librarian there has a name that might be Russian, so Putin's government might be the problem. Here's the Imperial Library's URL.

Maybe its down because he's restoring his collection. Or maybe the truth is worse than that.
The Free Book Library on I2P is still up, but it hasn't added any new books since September 19, 2021.

WebAPI Blocker, as the name suggests, is designed to block desired JavaScript APIs. This can help to protect your privacy and prevent chances of data breach, hacking or fraud. The extension is easy to use as it has an ON|OFF button. Once you have switched the button ON, it will start to block unwanted APIs and vice versa. Adding APIs is also not a tough task; all you have to do is to type the name of the API you want to block in the designated space and then click the add button next to it. For the convenience of users, there are some commonly used APIs pre-listed in the extension.
requires to have some knowledge related to the functions of the API. If they have mistakenly blocked an API that is important to load a website, the performance of that particular website may be impacted. It may not load completely or become unresponsive. If such an issue occurs, check the APIs you have blocked, try unblocking them, refresh the tab, and check whether the website loads correctly or not. All in all, installing WebAPI Blocker extension could be a viable way to protect your privacy; however, it is important to be aware of the functions of important APIs.
