Huge harvest of fresh vegetables/herbs from 4 small pots on the balcony.
The aroma is just amazingm. 3 types of #Basil, #parsley, #chives, #dill, #spinach and #radish leaves.
Going to make a paste of it like my mother used to do l, similar to #Pesto, but with peppers and garlic added since these basils are different than the Italian ones used in Pesto.
Then some baking to eat fresh bread with the paste and Bulgarian feta cheese!

Hydroponic cucumber has lots of flowers and a few tiny cucumbers as well.
Wil be fun comparing the taste of them compared to those I grow in sacks.

The balcony is turning into a food forest.
Finally getting the soil i ordered coming tomorrow, which means many more pots of cucumbers and tomato plants and bigger network of wires to let them grow up into the air.
Time to start planning what to do with the ever increasing amount of vegetables!

People called it crazy and laughable when i planted my cherry tomatoes directly in the bag of soil i bought!
2 months later, and several kilos of comatose later, one of them has passed 2m in height, despite my attempt to keep it low.
I have over 300 flowers on each plant and there seems to be no end to how much longer it keeps growing.
6L of water per day using a 2L milk bottle with a small hole in it to slowly feed the plant with water and occasionally giving some organic liquid fertilizer has done magic to my tomatoes again.
Super cheap (15 euro for 2, 50 liter bags of soil) and 6 euro for metal beams and wires to hold them up and together is all that i spent.
When i have a yard, the watering system will be controlled by a raspberry pi zero and some cheap electronics from AliExpress so i don't need to water them 3 times a day.
Great investment and trial to grow organic tomatoes on my balcony. They also cool down the place during the heatwaves and attract a lot of bees.

Took some time but the whole balcony is green!
Really upset that Castorama has not delivered 2 orders i put in to buy more soil to make my green cover of the balcony using different cucumbers and beans
The seedlings are growing and hav no place for them to be planted.
Today will make 2 hydroponic cucumbers using dutch bucket powered by 3 small solar panels.
Really happy about my progress. Not bought any tomatoes for 2 months and eating cucumbers almost every day as snack or with salad.

Today's snack!
Nothing is more satisfying than visiting the balcony and picking up some delicious crunchy cucumber and eat it as snack instead of lunch.

I am not going to risk it, have bought a bunch of small solar panels enough to power.a USB based air pump while the sun is shining and will start it in an isolated 15L paint bucket instead of the 5L one i used for the tomato
Have aot of work before it is ready, clean, wash and sterilize all the buckets, make a solid holder for 2 small 12V solar panels, add the voltage regulator and acould of left over super caps to make sure I have a little storage.
Make a small box and make it sun, rain and water proof. I may end up going to the dollar store and buy some containers and paint them and cover them with aluminum foil before painting a an uv protective later.
I'm hoping to get a lot of small cucumbers to picke. Will set up 4 system with 4 different solutions to document their diffences and the amount of vegies i get from each (can be difficult because I'm rapidly running out of space on my already crowded balcony.
Let the experience begin!

Tiny Tim tomato seeds saved for future and sharing.
Using paper towel makes it dry fast and clean. It also makes it possible to mail it all over the world using normal envelopes.
The system is fool proof and i have been doing it since 2018.
I will make a few more of these to save and take with me to Ghana. It will be fun to introduce a new tomato to schools and orphanages and to help them grow their own tomatoes in the kitchen and classrooms.

Eurêka!
I have been trying to find a vegetable that we had in Iran and was a MUST have item when eating kebab.
Google search and asking people pushed me towards Thai Basil. But after spending lots of money, buying both plants and seeds and trying them out, i could never find the strong smell and taste of Reyuan (ریحان) to satisfy my craving.
So last time i was in Paris, i bought all types of seeds they had and when I came here, started to grow them.
To my surprise, after the initial disappointment that only a handful of the seeds germinated and it didn't smell or taste much at fist, this morning i took the top of one 9f the branches to let 8r spread and almost jumped up of excitement.
Eureka!
I finally found what I've been looking for so long. It is a bit on a stronger side of the ones3qe had back in south of Iran, but the smell is amazing and soooo lovely.
Closing my eyes, i could smell the fresh Kebab on the bread, with lots of vegetables in the side. And the memories of walking to the best kebab place in our neighborhood buying 2 screwers for each person in the house and walking back trying hard not to nibble on the juicy bread soakesld in kebab juice, on the way back.
So here is the result of my successful exploration. Tukamaria vegetable seeds. Good for soaking in water and drinking when you have a cold. But also great for growing and eating with sandwich.
The leaves also have a fantastic effect of rasing the itchiness of mosquitoe bites.
So you can guess what I'm going to do in the afternoon!

Ordered 6 bags of soil to grow different cucumbers, some more pepper and beans for the fall season.
It's making tue balcony cooler during the hot days of summer.
I am using about 16L of water t times per day. About half of it from gray water.

Exciting days, my dwarf cherry tomatoes are all blooming.
Every one of the seeds that germinated, has now grown into beautiful little tomato plants and starting to have lots of flowers.
Here is some info for those who want to know more about the variety.
