#Ardra is the brightest star in the #Orion #constellation. It is also known as the Star of Sorrow and the Star of Oppression. Symbolized by #teardrop, Ardra natives are tested intensely, and their life lessons are hard-learned.
Their hardships hold testimony to their success, which comes during later stages of life. The presiding deity – #Rudra and the ruling planet – #Rahu brings confusion and chaos to the lives of people born under the star.
But they also bring in intense hunger for knowledge and lose themselves in quests to quench their thirst for knowledge.
They are bold and are straightforward. The natives are highly sensitive, and more than often, emotions cloud their judgments, making them think from the heart rather than the mind.

United Nations Special Rapporteur Visits Northern #Alberta

TREATY 6 (EDMONTON)—Representatives from Treaty 8, Treaty 6, and Keepers of the #Water will meet the #UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, Pedro Arrojo-Agudo, during his visit to Canada. Arrojo-Agudo is visiting April 8 - 19 to discuss safe drinking water and sanitation. Alberta is facing a drought in 2024, and the extraction industry still has the right to much of the water that is left.

“Keepers of the Water will attend this meeting to share the serious concerns related to Water, such as the proposal to dump the toxic tailings into the Athabasca River and other industrial contamination concerns, as well as the immense water use by Industry and how that will impact this entire society as we are in a drought.”

Hospital admissions for waterborne diseases in England up 60%, report shows

The analysis follows widespread anger after record sewage spills were revealed this week. Environment Agency data showed that raw #sewage was discharged for more than 3.6m hours into rivers and seas last year – a 129% increase on the previous 12 months.

Increased raw sewage in rivers means there is a higher risk of infections, campaigners argue, as people are more likely to come into contact with the #bacteria in human waste.

March 2024

Last week I walked into the Landry Room on my floor to drop off some things to be recycled. I turned the light on - and saw that the ceiling had crashed - it was all over the floor, the recycle bin, and two garbage cans.

HOME
On March 3, 2024, at my expense, I had the living room ceiling and wall (pillar) repaired due to a water leak above my apartment.
On March 16, I noticed a stream of water coming down the same wall, and flooding the floor. The ceiling also looks like it's being soaked with water again.
If the water wasn't toxic, I'd make a little container Water Pond below the streaming leak. Water Lilies, plants, rocks...some goldfish....

We need to talk about water – and the fact that the world is running out of it

The Guardian

On a planet getting hotter and drier by the year, governments are wilfully ignoring a looming crisis. (...)

(Text continues underneath the photo.)

Illustration: Eleanor Shakespeare/The Guardian

To keep pace with the global demand for food, crop production needs to grow by at least 50% by 2050. (...)

A paper published in 2017 estimated that to match crop production to expected demand, water use for irrigation would have to increase by 146% by the middle of this century. One minor problem. Water is already maxed out.

In general, the dry parts of the world are becoming drier, partly through reduced rainfall; partly through declining river flow as mountain ice and snow retreats; and partly through rising temperatures causing increased evaporation and increased transpiration by plants. (...)

Already, agriculture accounts for 90% of the world’s freshwater use. We have pumped so much out of the ground that we’ve changed the Earth’s spin. The water required to meet growing food demand simply does not exist.

That 2017 paper should have sent everyone scrambling. But as usual, it was ignored by policymakers and the media. (...)

Above all, we need to change our diets. Those of us with dietary choice (in other words, the richer half of the world’s population) should seek to minimise the water footprint of our food. With apologies for harping on about it, this is yet another reason to switch to an animal-free diet, which reduces both total crop demand and, in most cases, water use. (...)

This is yet another of those massive neglected issues, any one of which could be fatal to peace and prosperity on a habitable planet. Somehow, we need to recover our focus.

Time's nearly up for Thames Water. So let's bring it into public ownership - permanently

#ThamesWater, Britain's largest water monopoly, has been lobbying Ofwat to increase your bills, pay more dividends to its overseas investors, and try to squirm out of its way of paying fines for dumping #sewage illegally.
